Speedy deletion nomination of List of coolest dinosaurs edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on List of coolest dinosaurs requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about something invented/coined/discovered by the article's creator or someone they know personally, and it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. April 2018 edit

This is your only warning; if you create an inappropriate page again, as you did at List of the best dinosaurs, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. power~enwiki (π, ν) 04:00, 17 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

I dont think thats fair Im just trying to start and article that I can work on and other people can work on it too. Why doesnt anyone listeing to me??? — Preceding unsigned comment added by TrexEthan (talkcontribs) 04:08, April 17, 2018 (UTC)

Wikipedia does not publish original research, or editor's opinions. See WP:OR. A list of which dinosaurs you consider the best is not an appropriate article. Meters (talk) 04:09, 17 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

But I don't know why their so mean here... I didn't go to college yet or write books or anything so I don't know as much as you but I'm trying to be good at it because one day I want to write books about dinosaurs- Ethan

Hey, Ethan! I'm one of the admins who decided to delete one of your pages. I'm sorry that we seem mean; that's not what we intend. It's just that Wikipedia isn't a toy or a game; it's a serious project, with serious rules. We have rules about what kinds of pages we can and can't have, and unfortunately your pages didn't obey them.
It's not the end of the world, though! This doesn't mean that you'll never get to edit Wikipedia or write about dinosaurs. We appreciate the effort! It just means that maybe it's not the right time yet. It takes time to be good at editing Wikipedia, just like it takes time to be good at writing. You don't really even have to go to college to edit Wikipedia. You just need to give it a bit more time, I think; maybe a few more years. We'll still be here, so there's no rush, and the dinosaurs aren't going anywhere. Writ Keeper  04:25, 17 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

April 2018 edit

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), such as at Wikipedia:Teahouse, please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button (  in the enhanced toolbar, or   if you use the old "classic" toolbar) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. Drm310 🍁 (talk) 16:23, 19 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Advice for younger editors edit

I might be mistaken, but I think that you might be a younger person who could benefit from Wikipedia's guidance for younger editors. Anyone is welcome to edit here, but as you've discovered, there are rules. In addition to explaining more about how to contribute to Wikipedia, this guidance page has some important advice on how to protect your privacy. I encourage you to have a look at it, and hopefully you will learn more about how you can edit constructively. Best of luck to you. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 16:39, 19 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

I will add advice for any editors - Wikipedia is not a place for your opinions (best dinosaurs), or for information you know to be true but cannot be confirmed by an independent published reference. Articles get deleted and additions reverted all the time. I suggest you search for facts that are missing from an article, find references for those facts, add that. You can practice in your own sandbox first, to make sure you are doing the referencing right. David notMD (talk) 11:19, 20 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
No one gets to add pictures they drew. It is possible to add photographs, but getting a good photograph of a dinosaur is difficult. David notMD (talk) 10:17, 23 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

You were told this back in April. Please do something about it. --David Biddulph (talk) 23:47, 12 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi David Biddulph I will leave Wikipedia if you want me to... I really didn’t mean to upset you I just forgot like I always do and I promise I will get better. Please just don’t do anything mean, I swear I will leave you alone. I’m sorry again TrexEthan (talk) 00:19, 13 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

David Biddulph this is pretty clearly a kid and it's an easy thing to forget early on; I know I forgot it and I was 30 at the time. No need to be so blunt. › Mortee talk 01:02, 13 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Your thread has been archived edit

Hi TrexEthan! You created a thread called How do I put my pictures in the dinosaur articles? at Wikipedia:Teahouse, but it has been archived because there was no discussion for a few days. You can still find the archived discussion here. If you have any additional questions that weren't answered then, please create a new thread.
