Requested username:

Request reason:

Nihonjoe claims that the username 'is obviously profane, threatens, attacks or impersonates another person, or suggests that you do not intend to contribute positively to the encyclopedia' without any explanation of which of these reasons (profanity, threatening, attacking etc) he/she has objection to. None of these reasons is justifiable in blocking this username as it is clearly none of these things and certainly no more offensive than 'Nihonjoe' is as a username. I request immediate unblocking so that I may continue to contribute to the ongoing development of Wikipedia.

Accept reason:

Renamed. TonyBallioni (talk) 04:45, 1 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

I'm pinging Nihonjoe for clarification, but I know that "darkie" is a derogatory term for a black person in America. 331dot (talk) 08:36, 29 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

  • "Darkie" is also a derogatory term for a black person in the UK and in a number of other parts of the world. I can appreciate that the name Haydarkie could easily have been chosen innocently and not intended to convey "darkie" at all, but I think a rename would be be wise. While the inference of a racial undertone is wrong it appears the only recourse is to change the username. I understand I cannot change the username until I'm unblocked. Would Wikipedia please allow this process to move forward? Haydarkie (talk) 21:56, 29 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

If you type a new choice of username where it says "new username" in your request, I can rename your account. You may want to see if you new choice is available by using Special:CentralAuth. 331dot (talk) 22:05, 29 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
Thanks 331dot but all links to "new username" go to a page indicating the username is blocked. Is there another page that gives me detailed instructions as I haven't been able to find it? Haydarkie (talk) 22:13, 29 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
You need to edit your unblock request to remove the words "new username" and add your choice of name. 331dot (talk) 22:16, 29 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
If for some reason you are unable to do that, just type your choice of name here. 331dot (talk) 22:17, 29 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
No that didn't work. The proposed username is 'TaylorRhodes'. I think this should be more acceptable. Thanks 331dot Haydarkie (talk) 22:19, 29 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
Thanks 331dot. Message now appears 'User account "TaylorRhodes" is not registered.' Haydarkie (talk) 22:24, 29 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
I tried to move it, but the system says your choice is too similar to an existing name, so you will need to choose another. 331dot (talk) 22:35, 29 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
331dot, I've renamed. I'll explain more on your talk. TonyBallioni (talk) 04:44, 1 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Flag icons edit

Hello. You may have noticed that I have reverted your addition of flag icons to the infoboxes of several Australian military personnel. As noted at WP:INFOBOXFLAG, WP:ICON and WP:III, the use of flags and similar icons in infoboxes is strongly discouraged since they tend to crowd the limited space and add little to no value. Accordingly, it would be appreciated if you could cease adding flag icons to infoboxes. Many thanks, Abraham, B.S. (talk) 05:17, 18 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Veteran artists moved to draftspace edit

An article you recently created, Veteran artists, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. ~ Matthewrb Talk to me · Changes I've made 01:45, 28 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Richard Boyer (broadcaster), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Australian Imperial Force. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
