editHello, I'm Gtwfan52. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Miller Beach, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Information mentioning names, especially information that may be controversial, must be sourced to a reliable source like a newspaper or magazine. Your personal recollections or recollections of others are not usable as a source. Gtwfan52 (talk) 02:48, 30 November 2012 (UTC)

Hi! Welcome to Wikipedia
editI don't know if you are seeing the things that are getting posted on this page, but I hope you are. We are glad you have decided to join the legions of editors at Wikipedia, but I think it would be advisable for you to slow down a bit. You have been adding material to various articles connected with, I am guessing, some aspect of life in Gary, Indiana that you have personal knowledge of. The problem with that is that Wikipedia requires all info added to it to be verifiable from reliable sources. That means for the edit you did at Miller Beach, for example, if you can find where the Post-Tribune or the Chicago Sun-Times wrote about it, you can cite that and put your information back in. But if you are posting only from your personal recollections, that would be what we call here original research and not allowed. I would suggest that you take your personal knowledge and use that to guide you to finding sources for what you want to put in here. The 1st attempt at integration at (was it Lake Street or Wells Street?) the beach would be a valuable addition to the Miller Beach article. I am no where near Gary anymore, but I will be happy to help you with technical stuff here if I can. Just message me on my talk page or ask at the Teahouse (I am a host there). Welcome aboard. I hope you will let me help you find your way around! Gtwfan52 (talk) 03:27, 30 November 2012 (UTC)
Tolleston
editHi...I just wanted to let you know that I removed the two building related categories you added to the article on Tolleston. I realize you have added a lot of info to that article about the church, but the article is still an article about a neighborhood and as such does not belong in building related categories. It looks like you may have enough information to write a separate article about the church. If you would like to try to do that I will be happy to help you. Also, if you are still in the Gary area, you might want to contact some historical society and start the ball rolling to get the church designated for the list of historic places (see NRHP). That would put some amount of legal protection on it for the future to assure its preservation. Gtwfan52 (talk) 19:01, 30 November 2012 (UTC)
- Hello again. I have started a "sandbox" for you. On Wikipedia, a user sandbox is a place for you to play with editing so you can see what it does--hence the name, sandbox. A sandbox is also a place where you can work on an article until you feel it is ready to go in the encyclopedia. Your sandbox is not in the encyclopedia. It is in "userspace, the same "domain" as your talk page and your user page. I will start a userpage for you too. If you click on my name when you see it in blue it will link you to my userpage. A userpage is for you to tell your fellow editors about yourself. On mine, you will find many "userboxes" which tell you my interests, some things about me, and what I do on Wikipedia. I will start your userpage with a userbox saying you are interested in Indiana. You will also find "Barnstars" which are little awards that another editor can bestow on you for something they feel is pretty good work. You can access your sandbox here: User:SunDevilKnitter/sandbox. Your userpage is here: User:SunDevilKnitter. I would suggest you take a look at some articles on buildings not on the NRHP for some hints as to what you may need and want in an article on the church. My son is here all weekend and Sunday is pretty well taken up with church and a fundraiser some of us do to fund and supply a Christmas Basket charity here in our locale, so I probably won't have any time to work with you until Sunday night. I will possibly be asking you for a favor when we finish up the article on your church. I may ask you to get me some information on the First Unitarian Church in Hobart from either the Gary or Lake County Library. It is already on the NRHP and does not have an article. I'd like to remedy that, do something for my old home town. I live in a town of about 2500 people in the Styx in Idaho, and my local library is pretty lame. The newest reference book on computers is Windows 2000 for Dummies if that gives you a hint. Happy editing! Gtwfan52 (talk) 04:10, 1 December 2012 (UTC)
St. Augustine's
editHi! You said in your email that you have started an article on St. Augustine's. Where is it? I hope you didn't start it in the encyclopedia, because it will almost certainly get deleted if it is there before it is ready. Please leave me a link for it. Thanks. BTW, what you did to link in the Tolleston article is exactly right. It will turn blue when you get your article in. Gtwfan52 (talk) 15:18, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for December 31
editHi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of black fashion models, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Vogue and Glamour (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject. Now I understand why the page was not connected to anything else. Correct the mistake as you will. It's OK to remove this message. editHello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to St. Augustine's Episcopal Church (Gary, Indiana) may have broken the syntax by modifying 2 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

Speedy deletion nomination of Robert C. Wright (bishop)
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Robert C. Wright (bishop) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from https://www.episcopalatlanta.org/Content/The_New_Bishop_of_Atlanta.asp. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
