Does John Carter still want an IBAN with either of us?

Hey, I don't have the energy to trawl through the thousands upon thousands of words of pointless attacks he made on us to find the most recent place where he said he wants an IBAN with me, and I worry that even if I find one it might be a place where he also -- or exclusively -- requested an IBAN with you. Do you remember a specific page where he did so more recently than April 2015? It seems a whole bunch of people on ANI with no prior involvement in the problem are completely misreading my comments. I am trying to assume good faith, but lacking JC specifically saying now that he supports a mutual IBAN the burden is apparently on me to provide evidence that not only would an IBAN be beneficial to the project but that both John Carter and I support it. Hijiri 88 (やや) 02:10, 1 April 2016 (UTC)

@Hijiri88: I think he stated that he wanted an IBAN in October or November? But yes he has said so on more than one occasion but never pursued it. ミーラー強斗武 (StG88ぬ会話) 04:35, 1 April 2016 (UTC)

I don't have the fortitude to read it at the moment, but knowing him it's more of the same kind of crap he put us through for most of last year. To quote the awesome theme song from a terrible slasher film from the 1980s "He's back"... :-( Hijiri 88 (やや) 14:51, 4 April 2016 (UTC)

Citation needed?

In comparison, the main action conducted by the Arc Light operation, was much more significant than the secondary action of Air Cavalry operation in terms of time (5 days – November 15–19 versus 2 days – November 14–15), of space (the entire Chupong-Iadrang complex areas versus the LZ X-Ray), of units committed (the 3AC's B-52 fleet stationed at Guam versus the 1/7, 2/7 and 2/5 Air Cavalry Battalions), and of enemy forces attacked (3 NVA 32nd, 33rd and 66th Regiments versus 2 NVA 7th and 9th battalions).[citation needed]

I don't quite understand: isn't each of the quantity in terms of time, space, units committed, enemy forces attacked pertaining to Arc Light operation more significant that pertaining to the one of the Air Cavalry operation evident enough? Why is citation needed for the whole paragraph? Please advise. Thanks.Tnguyen4321 (talk) 08:27, 30 April 2016 (UTC)
@Tnguyen4321: Actually, the entire section is unreferenced. I just didn't want to spam "citation needed" tags. Do you have any reference that states that the bombing campign was the main action? Was the bombing campaign totally independent of AC operations? ミーラー強斗武 (StG88ぬ会話) 22:35, 30 April 2016 (UTC)
The bombing campaign is described by BG McChristian, J2 MACV in his report "[Intelligence Aspect of Plei Me/Chu Pong Campaign], in which it is written on page 6: "The Chu Pong base was known to exist well prior to the Pleime attack and J2 MACV had taken this area under study in September 1965 as a possible B-52 target" and it then shows the 1AC and 3AC Brigades preparing targets for B-52 strike scheduled for November 15 and 2AC Brigade conduction exploitation operation with the ARVN Airborne. The B-52 bombing campaign and the AC ground force operation are interconnected. The [Pleiku Campaign] reported by MG Kinnard focuses on the AC ground force supportive operation. Tnguyen4321 (talk) 23:41, 30 April 2016 (UTC)
@Tnguyen4321: So add those sources to the section and remove the tag. ミーラー強斗武 (StG88ぬ会話) 04:35, 1 May 2016 (UTC)

Help needed re Battle of Ia Drang

Hi, I need a favor from you pertaining the editing of Battle of Iadrang. You might be still aware of the edit warring between User:Dino nam and me, specifically his persistent abusive OR tagging. He recently re-added the bogus tags without consensus [1] as soon as his 48 hour blocking expired. I have been advised not do any reverting as not re-start an editing war. Would you please, as a neutral party, remove the tags in my stead as to restore the version prior to the editing war? Thank you.Tnguyen4321 (talk) 13:46, 6 June 2016 (UTC)

@Tnguyen4321: I can't be your proxy, but I will look at the situation and do what I think needs to be done. ミーラー強斗武 (StG88ぬ会話) 18:38, 6 June 2016 (UTC)
@Sturmgewehr88: Sorry but I don't agree with your latest editing, sir. The WP:NOR regulation have clearly stated: "Drawing conclusions not evident in the reference is original research regardless of the type of source." Therefore, tagging a material is probably still appropriate even when that material is cited from a source. In fact, the content in the article is out of context: it's the result of derivations by user:Tnguyen4321 himself, not something evidently showed in the source. It can't either be WP:BLUE, as they're complex military concepts and analysis, not a common sense.
p/s: For clarification of identification, I'm user:Dino nam. 117.6.88.137 (talk) 03:16, 7 June 2016 (UTC)
@Dino nam: Three things: first, you don't have to use the {{re}} template on another user's talk page, as they're automatically notified already. Two, Tnguyen4321 has provided sources that state South Vietnam's involvement in the campaign; I have added a dispute tag which is much more appropriate. Finally (and most importantly), you should have logged in and responded to my message on your talk page (you're allowed to do that), and logging out and coming here or anywhere as an IP is block evasion. I will try to help you and @Tnguyen4321: sort out the problems with the article, but you both must follow Wikipedia's policies and guidelines both in spirit and letter. ミーラー強斗武 (StG88ぬ会話) 04:24, 7 June 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for your fair intervention. Tnguyen4321 (talk) 14:17, 7 June 2016 (UTC)

I've just made some recent editing on Battle of Ia Drang. Please see if the info I've put into the box is OK. I'm afraid that Tnguyen4321 is going to engage in edit warring again, and it's useless to discuss with such a stubborn person on the talk page. Thanks. Dino nam (talk) 21:29, 21 June 2016 (UTC)

Removing RfC re Battle of Ia Drang

I think you were too hasty in closing the RfC after just a few comments. You should allow more times for other comments that really shows a balance judgment. But well, I don't want be accused of giving the appearance of wanting to beating a horse's carcass, by having a different sentence that is not "synthesis, pointless, and not neutral". Thanks for your "not so fair" intervention anyway. Tnguyen4321 (talk) 18:10, 12 June 2016 (UTC)

@Tnguyen4321: Do you really think the result would have been different had I waited 30 days? Out of the four uninvolved comments, one only mentioned that there was poor grammar, and the other three all said that the sentence went against WP:SYNTH, WP:RELEVANCE, and WP:N. I'm completely sure that had I left the RfC open, there would just be more comments saying the same thing. I am in fact trying to be fair. I do not approve of the vandalism/edit warring and sockpuppetry of Dino nam, but I equally do not approve the synthesis and misinterpreting of sources that you have done. You have done a good job building up the article, but you still have to follow Wikipedia policies and guidelines. ミーラー強斗武 (StG88ぬ会話) 18:39, 12 June 2016 (UTC)
It might or not make any difference, but the silence majority usually takes time to react, especially in the case of SYNTH, OR which are pretty complex notions to understand fully and easily interpreted as one sees fit. But anyway I have moved on beyond disputable notions by providing reliable and verifiable sources. I am abiding to Wikipedia policy, am I not? Tnguyen4321 (talk) 18:49, 12 June 2016 (UTC)

Names and political divisions are not retroactive

English is your first language, right? One more time: "Tsuboya ware...is a type of Japanese pottery". "Is". Present tense. It is produced. In Naha. Today. Naha is politically and geographically part of Okinawa prefecture by standard nomenclature. By your logic, you would say that "Channel catfish is a kind of fish found in Louisiana Territory". Given your efforts to tie yourself into knots over basic grammar to make your argument, I'd say the POV pushing is, at the very least, not one-sided. --Calton | Talk 15:46, 24 September 2016 (UTC)

As for the second example, "Ryukyu Islands" makes perfect sense as a description, because they and Kyushu are geographic regions; it doesn't make sense to name a geographic region encompassing multiple prefectures and then name a separate prefecture without any geographic context.

Equally ridiculous. According to you, it's a group of schools in Kyushu and ONE school on Okinawa, so using EITHER an entire region or prefecture to set boundaries for a single member makes no sense. It would like saying, in the days when the Atlanta Braves were still in the National League West, that "the National League West consists of teams in the Western and Southeastern U.S." NATURAL English prose would say "Western U.S. and Atlanta" or "Five teams west of the MIssissippi and one in Atlanta". --Calton | Talk 16:11, 24 September 2016 (UTC)

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 03:03, 21 October 2016 (UTC)

Invitation from Wikipedia Asian Month 2016

Thanks for partipating Wikipedia Asian Month last year, and I hope you enjoy it. Last year, more than 7,000 articles contribute to Wikipedia in 43 languages in Wikipedia Asian Month, making us one of the largest event on Wikipedia. We will organize this event again in upcoming November, and would like to invite you join us again.

This year, we are lowering down the standards that you only need to create 4 (Four) articles to receive a postcard (new design), and articles only need to be more than 3,000 bytes and 300 words. We are also improving our postcard sending process, e.g. making the postcards right now, and collecting the address after the event ends without waiting other languges.

Wikipedians who create the most articles on each Wikipedia will be honored as "Wikipedia Asian Ambassadors". We will send you both digital copy, and a paper copy of the Ambassador certificate.

Thank you for considering! --AddisWang (talk)
