Sasural Genda Phool copyvio
Hi SS, thank you for the feedback earlier. I have a question. (Please note i am a new contributor) What are your copyright/plagiarism checking tools/websites? I uses some that I have and the "Sasural Genda Phool", plot summary came up negative for plagiarism, it however appears that it came up positive on a tool you are using. Please share. SP SplendidPerformance (talk) 07:02, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
- I don't use a tool, I check manually. A fair bit of content was copied from the serial's about us page while the rest was closely paraphrased. You can find more about our copyright policies and guidelines at WP:C. The same holds true for your edit on woodpecker, I haven't checked any other articles. The copyright page has links to tools, guidelines and rules; feel free to ask me any questions. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 07:17, 7 May 2012 (UTC)

LoL!! Really WTF! It's so bemusing when I see the addition of the image of an AC Volvo bus in Indian city articles. Indeed it was bemusing at first, now it is irritating.--Dwaipayan (talk) 04:31, 8 May 2012 (UTC)
- I know, I gave up on Chennai after a while, so many crappy pictures that add no value to the article. It's not like we have a shortage of pictures. Commons has a lot of good pictures for the big cities. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 04:35, 8 May 2012 (UTC)
Could you offer me your thoughts...
about this? Thanks, Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 06:52, 8 May 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for looking in. It seems to have stopped for now. We'll see what the morrow brings. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 09:11, 8 May 2012 (UTC)
After you reverted User:Arziyan at Pazhassi Raja (2009 film), interestingly, an IP:117.196.148.144 came by to revert you. I suspect its the same entity but not signed in. He has been reverted and warned. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 18:26, 8 May 2012 (UTC)

Happy Greeting
Hi, greetings from Mumbai. I occasionally come in wiki cos i like to be active in Wikimedia commons. I'll be if you take a quick look to my contribution at http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:ListFiles/Majorcaptain . Dear i am really happy that we found an Indian admin. who can really understand our article related feelings and emotions. With Whom we can interact with our local language also. Before meeting with you, we've to explain a lot of thing to a foreign admin, where we were asked to explain why you think article must be protected semi-protected and semi-protected all those stuff :D :D Even though we were failed to alarmed'em. Dear, eventually i request you to please be in contact by replying us. Once again hearty thanks to you Majorcaptain (talk) 18:15, 17 May 2012 (UTC)
- Hello, Please read our Copyright policies. If you upload copyright violations, people are bound to bring it up with you. Your talk page on Commons has more specific links for you to check. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 04:02, 18 May 2012 (UTC)
Hi, i had read not only Copyright policies prudentially but also having a better understanding now. people were really bound to bring it up with me. Thankfulness for you attention. Good luck and regards Majorcaptain (talk) 06:44, 18 May 2012 (UTC)
- Can you explain why you are using two accounts? Rpaigu (talk · contribs) and Majorcaptain (talk · contribs)? Also, are there any other accounts you are using and/or have used before? —SpacemanSpiff 07:54, 18 May 2012 (UTC)
- Ohh yes, i used alternative account. The first one i.e Rpaigu i used to edit only on Wikipedia. I have been editing Wikipedia for some time. If you go for edit history of user Rpaigu you'll find that that account has been used for just edit. none else. There is no personal reason for making two accounts. But anyways, the second one is used for uploading image files only. You can see that there is rarely any edits by Majorcaptain. you can distinguish very easily cos of having authority. Eventually i am unable to find reasons why you've questioned that. But rest assured there's nothing like i'd made alternate accounts for vandalizing, personal attacks, revenge or something. They're made for keeping The spacing between Wikipedia and commons. Even though, if it seems any offense, defect, imperfection, mistake or breaking wiki's policy. Please let me know and if exits, do help to overcome with the difficulty. Thank youMajorcaptain (talk) 15:20, 18 May 2012 (UTC)
- Please read WP:SOCK#LEGIT on legitimate uses of alternative accounts. Also, follow the process listed there on identifying alternate accounts. —SpacemanSpiff 15:50, 18 May 2012 (UTC)

Should a checkuser locate the ip of User:Sumit8158 the creator of the article? Ryan Vesey Review me! 19:30, 20 May 2012 (UTC)
- You could do that as a CU might be able to figure out the correct range, I can't seem to find the right tool on toolserver now to check the range contribs. —SpacemanSpiff 19:35, 20 May 2012 (UTC)
- Comments began again immediately Wikipedia talk:Articles for deletion/Shardul Pandey Ryan Vesey Review me! 21:20, 20 May 2012 (UTC)
- Looks like someone else has taken care of it. The range contribs tool appears to be down, I'll need to figure out if something else was created when I was gone walkabout. Eitherways, I think the disruption is contained for now, I think protection of the few pages is probably a better option than disallowing good IPs to contribute. Also appears that the IPs are unrelated to the original author, but very likely that of the person who uploaded the image. —SpacemanSpiff 06:24, 21 May 2012 (UTC)

Majorcaptain
I noticed your message on this users talk page. I am pretty sure that he is using 3 other account names, but did not know if that was a big problem. If you intend to pursue sock allegations, I can list the other accounts. BollyJeff | talk 18:58, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
- I knew of one: Rpaigu, don't know the others. This is especially in violation of SOCK#LEGIT as he's uploading copyvios using different accounts, so the collective warnings don't come on one account. Maybe there's something else that I've missed? Also, there's been some funky business around film personality articles of late with a flurry of GA noms. I'm not entirely sure what to make of this!—SpacemanSpiff 19:10, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, that's one. The other accounts that I suspect of being the same are the newer Dindriyena (who received an award from Rpaigu), and the older Mumbaifreaks. All of these edit same/similar articles in similar ways. BollyJeff | talk 19:49, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
- Well, I was thinking along those lines too, after I came across an odd GA nom/review on Rekha. I left a note on the talk page of Dindriyena too. I'll see what I can do on this one. —SpacemanSpiff 19:59, 21 May 2012 (UTC)

Dubious sources
I've started the list of dubious sources, currently at User:Sitush/Indic publications of dubious merit. I'll trawl my contributions for others and maybe at some point move it into the India project space. The issues relating to dubiety extend into areas other than mirrors etc, as time will show. Feel free to add to it. - Sitush (talk) 18:53, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
- I'll add to it soon. I remember Fences&Windows had a list which included a few India related books/links too. I'll see if I can find that. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 01:21, 23 May 2012 (UTC)

Hey dog
Thanks for the note. Keep me posted. BTW, it's nice to have you back on a regular basis; the place isn't the same without you. And now that you're an admin, I don't mind if you go back to having nekkid women here above this edit box, though the dog is nice. Drmies (talk) 19:21, 23 May 2012 (UTC)
- Not really back on a regular basis, I'm hoping to be active for a few weeks at a stretch at least, let's see how it goes. Ha, no, I'm atoning for those earlier sins and trying to reduce misogyny in cricket coverage! Want to take a shot at List of centuries in women's ODI cricket? cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 19:32, 23 May 2012 (UTC)

Indentation question
Hi, Spiff! If you wouldn't think the request improper, I wonder whether you might have a brief look at a wp:indent question at ANI? (link/snapshot) I just posted to Blade of the Northern Lights' talk page about it, since he'd blocked the IP user in question, just beneath a message you'd left at his page. That reminded me that you'd taken part in the RfC at the talk page for the indentation essay, early this month. Since that was so, I thought you might have a relevant interest in the thread. Many thanks, --OhioStandard (talk) 19:44, 30 May 2012 (UTC) that's one gorgeous canine, btw
- Sorry, I don't recall participating in that RfC and I don't see it in my contribution history either, it's not an overlap with my editing interests. I looked through that discussion and I'm quite sure I wouldn't have anything of value to add there. The dog isn't mine -- just a picture from Commons, although he looks a lot like mine, just thinner! cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 19:56, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
- Well, that was careless of me. The RfC was here, and the user I was thinking of was SpinningSpark. Sorry, my bad. --OhioStandard (talk) 20:12, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
- No worries, the signature looks quite similar! cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 20:20, 30 May 2012 (UTC)

Article elsewhere
Can we have articles like User:Gurpreet Singh (Actor)? The subject has article at Gurpreet Singh (Actor). §§AnimeshKulkarni (talk) 20:08, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
- Technically it's ok, although frowned upon. It's equivalent to a user page, there was one lengthy discussion sometime back at ANI or someplace about another editor doing the same after their self-promo article got deleted and it was left as is. Just no non-free images etc. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 20:19, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
- Okay! & no BLP issues also i suppose? At least contentious ones? There isn't any i guess. All the my-wife-beats-me is sourced. But is ditto copied from a newspaper article. §§AnimeshKulkarni (talk) 20:33, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
- !!I didn't read the page when I responded! Now, I first removed the copyvio, then realized that there's no user by that name, so deleted it under U2 condition. Well, the wife beats me crap shouldn't be there even if sourced as (a) it's a copyvio, (b) it's not a statement of fact that's printed but an interview snippet. I'm assuming that you think this person is notable? Because his reformat of the dab page went to AfD already? cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 20:43, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
- Okay! I didn't realize that there had been a AfD for the dab page of that title. But i think the person is notable per WP:ENTERTAINER. But i wont vote for keeping it in case of an AfD. §§AnimeshKulkarni (talk) 13:00, 31 May 2012 (UTC)

Problematic Hindi contributor
I think that we may have discussed this before, but the efforts of Krantmlverma are of increasing concern to me. Please could you review User talk:Krantmlverma#Your disruptive contributions. I appreciate that you may already be involved, noting as I have your recent image-related templates on that page. - Sitush (talk) 23:52, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
- I'm not involved in this case, only been cleaning up copyright messes. However, he hasn't contributed on the article side since May 24 except adding one reference to The Hindu, so I would just ignore the talk page messages etc and wait to see if his article contributions change to a level that's acceptable. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 11:48, 31 May 2012 (UTC)

Harbhajan Singh
Can you tidy Harbhajan Singh? Or are you aware of someone who can? The thing seems to be falling to pieces under the weight of crap contributions and there is no way that it qualifies as a featured article as it now stands. - Sitush (talk) 15:42, 31 May 2012 (UTC)
- Of course this has to happen just after Nev1 was run out of the project! Since YellowMonkey was run out, Nev1 has been helping keep some of these high profile ones clean, but he's gone walkabout too. I'll see what I can do, but if you post at WT:CRIC it might have better results. Some of the people there have a single minded devotion to keeping things clean, which is very good. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 16:16, 31 May 2012 (UTC)
