Orphaned non-free media (File:Xbox NXE avatar.png) edit

Thanks for uploading File:Xbox NXE avatar.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 07:47, 12 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

iPod (English Wikipedia) edit

Bonjour. I am contacting you regarding en:IPod on the English Wikipedia. You seem to be quite gifted with Photoshop and photography, and I praise many of your images, however I dislike what you have done to the iPod article. The imitation screenshots you placed on the screens of the iPods in the main picture don't really add to the image. I was hoping we could keep the old design with the blank screen. I see you reverted my previous edits, so to prevent an edit war, I've come to you to discuss the conflict. Au revoir, Sir Stig (d) Please respond to my home on the English Wikipedia here: en:User talk:Sir Stig Merci

Yes I can also make an black screen instead of the imitations, I think i'll have time for it tomorrow   Kyro (talk) 23:22, 22 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of File:IPod Touch 2.0.png edit

A tag has been placed on File:IPod Touch 2.0.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free image with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria.

If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the image can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{non-free fair use in|article name that the image is used in}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the image. If the image has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. I'm having a friendly discussion with User:Seraphimblade about File:Ipod Touch 1st Generation.JPG and File:IPod Touch 2.0.png, which claim fair use on the grounds that a photograph or rendering without the icons would not convey enough information to serve its purpose, and have been nominated for deletion. I think that the renderings IPod Touch 1G.svg are 2G are as good as we're going to get. Personally, I'm starting to favor deletion, but I wanted for everyone to get a chance to weigh in first. File permission problem with File:Aluminium MacBook.png edit

Thanks for uploading File:Aluminium MacBook.png. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stifle (talk) 18:57, 6 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
