Welcome!

edit

Hello, Shane VV ZA, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

Hello Jimfbleak. Can you make my Draft:All Things Motoring International article back into a saved draft? I will revise it and then resubmit with draft submission process. Please guide me on why my page is seen as not neutral and unambiguous marketing, what information do I need or what writing style is required? Thanks

If you have a conflict of interest, you must declare it. If you work directly or indirectly for an organisation, or otherwise are acting on its behalf, you are very strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. If you are paid directly or indirectly by the organisation you are writing about, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Shane VV ZA. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Shane VV ZA|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If you are being compensated, please provide the required disclosure. Note that editing with a COI is discouraged, but permitted as long as it is declared. Concealing a COI can lead to a block. Please do not edit further until you respond to this message. Also read the following regarding writing an article:

  • you must provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that it meets the notability guidelines. Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to the organisation or company, press releases, YouTube, IMDB, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, logs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what the company or organisation claims or interviewing its management. Note that references should be in-line so we can tellwhat fact each is supporting, and should not be bare urls
  • Your text was mostly unsourced and the only ref you did give was to a media company page where it's tagged "promosies", not an independent third-party source.
  • Without proper sources, it can't meet the notability criteria linked above
  • You must write in a non-promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic, with verifiable facts, not opinions or reviews.
We have the title in SHOUT CAPITALS (again), complete with a spamlink to their website and text like Well known...one of South Africa’s most recognized faces... has what it takes to warm the hearts of the motoring public... as a unique way... easy to watch and highly accessible... literally covers All Things Motoring.. We need real facts, not your opinions, clearly wrong on the last item anyway
  • There shouldn't be any url links in the article, only in the "References" or "External links" sections.
  • Especially spamlinks
  • You must not copy text from elsewhere. Copyrighted text is not allowed in Wikipedia, as outlined in this policy. That applies even to pages created by you or your organisation, unless they state clearly and explicitly that the text is public domain. We require that text posted here can be used, modified and distributed for any purpose, including commercial; text is considered to be copyright unless explicitly stated otherwise. There are ways to donate copyrighted text to Wikipedia, as described here; please note that simply asserting on the talk page that you are the owner of the copyright, or you have permission to use the text, isn't sufficient.
  • I didn't check.

Before attempting to write an article again, please make sure that the topic meets the notability criteria linked above, and check that you can find independent third party sources. Also read Your first article. You must reply to the COI query Jimfbleak - talk to me? 15:58, 28 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi Jimfbleak, thank you so much for your assistance in this endeavor, I have taken your feedback under advisement and would like to firstly state that I have no conflict of interest with this show, I am purely a fan of the show after watching it on DStv in South Africa for over a year now.
Before I continue to develop the article I would like to describe why I chose to create this page for this show that I really enjoy and understand to be extremely noteworthy in South Africa. What triggered me was an interview on the show with the world renowned television presenter Derek Watts - whose profile is on Wikipedia here - Derek Watts, who was famous for being on the show Carte Blanche (TV series) which is one of the most famous South African shows in it's History.
Derek Watts has recently passed away in South Africa and The All Things Motoring show did a tribute to him here where they showed their interview with the man at the 2023 Cape Town ePrix, seen here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ty7SGRX_j7s&t). In that interview Michael, the host of the show had such a heartwarming interaction with Derek and further cemented me as a fan.
I have been following and watching All Things Motoring for over a year and I really wanted to contribute to Wikipedia's content, starting with their show because of its mass appeal and beautiful storytelling about South African Icons like Derek Watts as well as many others. I would really appreciate your help and guidance on finding the correct manner in which to structure the article to have it approved. I have searched for publications but perhaps I need better ones to further that end.
The presence of the All Things Motoring show on DStv (Channel 189), which is the largest satellite television broadcaster in the country seen on Wikipedia here - DStv, as well as their interviews with massive celebrities like Derek Watts, as well as several others, I believed would be more than enough to prove their notability, but I understand that I need to format the article in the correct manner.
I would like to thank you so much for your rigor in developing authentic articles and look forward to revising the article so fans of the show can see unbiased information about the show when they are searching for it online.
Kind Regards,

You may have noticed that I made these changes Your reasons for writing about the show, or why you think it is notable are not really relevant. As a national programme, it's probably notable, but Wikipedia:Notability (television) requires coverage in independent third-party sources, which you did not provide. Two minor points, YouTube is not acceptable as a ref, and the article should be written with South African English spelling, not the American spelling you use in your messages Jimfbleak - talk to me? 12:50, 29 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
Hi Jimfbleak, please see new changes published for the article User:Shane VV ZA/All Things Motoring International, I believe I have found appropriate sources to backup the article's notability, please let me know if I need to change anything further to suit the criteria for to to be published. I made a few minor tweaks and fixed the ref. I don't know SA media well enough to know whether your sources are good enough, but otherwise seems OK. I suggest that you move the draft to Draft:All Things Motoring International and add {{subst:submit}} to attract a reviewer Jimfbleak - talk to me? 10:23, 19 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thanks so much, will do that! Appreciate the assitance. Shane VV ZA (talk) 10:54, 19 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
I have submitted it for review here - Draft:All Things Motoring International, please could you let me know if I have done this correctly, thanks! Shane VV ZA (talk) 14:13, 19 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
