Hello Sandstein, this article has been recreated recently, since you have allowed recreation, I am not nominating it for G4. However, you may want to give a glance to the current version of the article. Thanks. Hitro talk 10:28, 1 September 2018 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Maria Sultan

First of all, sorry for turning up late. I'm considering a request for a deletion review, because I believe the "no consensus" was not justified. --Saqib (talk) 19:34, 31 August 2018 (UTC)

You'll need to tell me why if you expect any kind of useful reply. Sandstein 20:16, 31 August 2018 (UTC)
The only keep !vote was not able to demonstrate WP:N and provide significant coverage yet the page was kept. --Saqib (talk) 06:34, 1 September 2018 (UTC)
Well, yes, that's what happens when literally nobody agrees with a deletion nomination. Sandstein 11:11, 1 September 2018 (UTC)
I am surprised that merely one keep vote with no policy-based argument can rescue deletion of a page. --Saqib (talk) 13:25, 1 September 2018 (UTC)
You can still re-nominate the article and see if you can get more people to agree with you. Sandstein 13:27, 1 September 2018 (UTC)

Deletion of page "List of Top Prize Winners for Who Wants To Be a Millionaire"

Hi. I would like to log a complaint in the process of the deletion of the aforementioned list page. Pretty much, I feel the page was deleted without giving a chance by the people who edited the page a fair shake. The vote seemed to be railroading a page that has been heavily edited and ignoring the possibilities of letting the page continue to exist but with proper guidelines (like removing the trivia that made it up for deletion). The list may seem trivial but there were standards that were met for the page's first deletion vote and I would like it to be reconsidered undeleting or at least the recreation of the page so that it doesn't fall under LISTCRUFT (but I don't think the page failed that "test" the first time and each time it was contested, you swept it as "not making sense".) retched (talk) 15:43, 30 August 2018 (UTC)

The page List of Top Prize Winners for Who Wants To Be a Millionaire has never existed. Please link to the page you refer to. Sandstein 16:14, 30 August 2018 (UTC)
That would be this one: List of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? top prize winners retched (talk) 02:51, 31 August 2018 (UTC)
Everybody had a "fair shake" at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? top prize winners. The problem was that a lot of arguments simply made no sense, i.e. I cannot understand what they mean to convey. That's also the case with your message above. Sorry. Sandstein 20:18, 31 August 2018 (UTC)
I'm not sure about that. Because I digress, as it seems I'm in the minority in that case. I'll just edit the list onto the individual related pages instead. Thank you. retched (talk) 18:43, 3 September 2018 (UTC)

Reversing the deletion of the Curtis Jones Jr. Page

Hi Sandstein,

I'm reaching out to find out what I can do to reverse the deletion of the Curtis Jones, Jr. page. He is an active councilperson in the city of Philadelphjia and his page was recently deleted after an user tried to make updates that were more in line with Wikipedia's guidelines on content. Is there anyway we can get that content back so we can continue to the editing process. We are prepared to add more verified links and external information. Thank you.

Who do you mean by "we"? Sandstein 16:28, 29 August 2018 (UTC)

The people who were editing that page before you deleted it. His constituents in the 4th councilmanic district. 15:26, 6 September 2018 (UTC)Pagillett (talk)

Are you affiliated with Mr. Jones or his campaign? Sandstein 15:35, 6 September 2018 (UTC)

Double AE report

Hi Sandstein. I wanted to ask you if it's acceptable to made the EXACTLY SAME report twice if you don't like what the previous administrator ruled in the original report. How can you be sanctioned for the same incident if you were acquitted before? Could you please intervene? Thanks--יניב הורון (Yaniv) (talk) 20:22, 8 September 2018 (UTC)

We're not a court of law. In practice, admins will only remove AE reports or sanction complainants if the repeated complaints are considered disruptive. Sandstein 20:26, 8 September 2018 (UTC)
But this is exactly the same report than you closed previously.--יניב הורון (Yaniv) (talk) 20:36, 8 September 2018 (UTC)

It's about the grammar

This by Drmies. Sandstein said it correctly - “unlike me” is adverbial, no need for a reflective. 👵🏻 ✍🏻 🔤 📚 🤓 Atsme✍🏻📧 01:32, 17 September 2018 (UTC)

Policy question

Hi Sandstein,

I'm wondering if you can reflect on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Arbitration_Committee/Discretionary_sanctions#Dismissing_an_enforcement_request this for me with regard to an admin re-opening an AE. I have just been topic banned after my AE was reopened. Does this case finding apply to admins, not just editors as Drmies has suggested? If so does your edit summary inviting others to reopen the case override the finding? Thanks in advance, petrarchan47คุ 18:25, 19 September 2018 (UTC)

I am frankly not interested enough in the matter to figure this out, sorry. Sandstein 18:40, 19 September 2018 (UTC)
...Or, on reflection: The issue seems to be moot because I noted in my closure that I do not object to action by other admins. Sandstein 18:47, 19 September 2018 (UTC)
No worries, thanks for responding. petrarchan47คุ 21:03, 19 September 2018 (UTC)

I feel that an indef ban is too harsh here. Something like 3 months should have been enough to give this editor a chance to mitigate his behavior and become more experienced in the ways of Wikipedia. Debresser (talk) 07:16, 20 September 2018 (UTC)

Especially since this was opened just today. I for one received a notice about this complaint just 10 minutes ago. Also note that no other admins have yet have time to express their opinion, and in view of the seriousness of this forum, admins at WP:AE should preferably make consensus decisions. Debresser (talk) 07:19, 20 September 2018 (UTC)

Your view is noted, but I disagree. AE actions are unilateral and do not require discussion or consensus by either admins or other users. Discussion and consensus are, however, a factor if there is an appeal. Sandstein 10:18, 20 September 2018 (UTC)

Proposal at AE

Sandstein, I would like to mentor Yaniv. I have made a statement at AE outlining terms, and I note that the AE has not yet been closed on the page. I would request that you allow this proposal to stand on the record, and to see if it is an acceptable alternative that the community can consider. Simon Adler (talk) 14:01, 20 September 2018 (UTC)
Sorry, not accepted. I do not know you and do not have the time to supervise any such arrangement. In any case, it is my view that people who want to edit controversial topic areas such as WP:AC/DS topics need to be competent enough to be able to do so on their own. Sandstein 14:08, 20 September 2018 (UTC)

Appeal based on mentoring

Noted, in which case I would request that you would consider an appeal based on my proposal, which Yaniv should himself of course make. Would you be amenable to that? I do not 'know' you either, which does not appear to be a relevant point. It could be handed over to another admin could it not, if they were amenable in any case. Simon Adler (talk) 14:09, 20 September 2018 (UTC)
As you write, any appeal must be made by the sanctioned user themselves, and I will express an opinion based on the content of any such appeal. Sandstein 14:12, 20 September 2018 (UTC)

Appeal

Please note that I have appealed my topic ban from the Arab-Israeli conflict here: Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Enforcement#Arbitration enforcement action appeal by פֿינצטערניש פֿינצטערניש (talk) 13:35, 22 September 2018 (UTC)

Is there a remedy available to me to dispute this decision or file a formal complaint?

Hello. Your name was offered by Drmies as some who might know the answer to this question per the discussion here. I would be grateful if you can point me in the right direction. Veritycheck✔️ (talk) 13:21, 22 September 2018 (UTC)

There is no procedure that I am aware of that allows an appeal against a decision not to sanction a user, other than perhaps a request for arbitration. Sandstein 13:39, 22 September 2018 (UTC)
Can you point me to a link where I can initiate the process? This is a first for me. Veritycheck✔️ (talk) 13:45, 22 September 2018 (UTC)
I'd rather not, because it will be almost certainly unsuccessful and a waste of time for everybody involved. Sandstein 13:50, 22 September 2018 (UTC)

Arbitration

You are involved in a recently filed request for arbitration. Please review the request at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case# Admin Drmies conduct and, if you wish to do so, enter your statement and any other material you wish to submit to the Arbitration Committee. As threaded discussion is not permitted on most arbitration pages, please ensure that you make all comments in your own section only. Additionally, the guide to arbitration and the Arbitration Committee's procedures may be of use.

Thanks, Veritycheck✔️ (talk) 22:04, 22 September 2018 (UTC)

Quick question

Hi, Sandstein - do all administrators participate in arbitration enforcement or is it an appointment by ArbCom? Thanks in advance, Atsme✍🏻📧 12:40, 24 September 2018 (UTC)

Neither. Each admin chooses whether and how much they want to work at AE, just as in other admin areas such as AfD and 3RR. Sandstein 12:55, 24 September 2018 (UTC)
😊 Thank you. Atsme✍🏻📧 13:18, 24 September 2018 (UTC)

Draft:Prakash Neupane

I think now prakash neupane has good references and he is notable to get on wikipedia. So, Can we recreate Draft:Prakash_Neupane ?? which was previously deleted by you? 27.34.68.202 (talk) 12:28, 27 September 2018 (UTC)

What are the references? Sandstein 12:34, 27 September 2018 (UTC)

[[2]] [[3]] [[4]] [[5]] [[6]]

And there is one interview in national television of Nepal [[7]] and next one on radio: [[8]] Ps: I have just mentioned new one have not mention old references which you can check from deleted article. I think it's enough to be on en wiki for Nepali reputed artist. 27.34.68.202 (talk) 12:41, 27 September 2018 (UTC)

Please write a draft stub and go to WP:AFC with it. Sandstein 12:55, 27 September 2018 (UTC)
  • Can i use old notable references too along with new one? 27.34.68.202 (talk) 13:02, 27 September 2018 (UTC)
I recommend not because these references were already considered in the previous AfDs. Sandstein 13:47, 27 September 2018 (UTC)
  • Sorry i just checked your recommendation now after putting it but i have not included all the old references but i have included only some national paper references. Please if you could review and send it to main page than it would be great. Thanks 27.34.68.202 (talk) 13:59, 27 September 2018 (UTC)
Sorry, not interested. Sandstein 14:05, 27 September 2018 (UTC)
Sandstein, I just declined the submission and as per their message on my talk page, I feel they are evading their block and in that case, G5 applies. GSS (talk|c|em) 15:25, 27 September 2018 (UTC)
