Help me! edit

I'm trying to edit the page Paul Godfrey (Lyricist) but my edits keep reverting back to edits made by mrX

I'd like to change the title of the page to Paul Godfrey (Morcheeba) as this more accurately describes who he is or at least Paul Godfrey (DJ-Producer/Lyricist)

The information I am adding is also getting deleted before i've had a chance to add citations and references e.g the films and tv shows his music has been in get deleted before I can add a reference

Samfov (talk) 16:03, 23 September 2016 (UTC) SamfovReply

Paul Godfrey (Morcheeba) would not be a suitable article title as per our policy on article titles. Person + profession is the recommended style guide, i.e. Paul Godfre (musician) or Paul Godfre (lyricist). The reason for this is that rarely will people change core professions and rarely have conflicts. Godfre for example also founded the band First Down. It's not worthwhile to change the article title every time they start a more notable band over the course of someone's entire career. It creates work and destroys links each time the article is moved. It's likely that Mr.X has reverted other changes you have made because you are a relatively new editor and unfamiliar with our policies and guidelines. I suggest you spend time learning about them before making live changes to the encyclopedia. Mkdwtalk 18:57, 23 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hello Samfov, in your vote to Keep perhaps you missed this note at the end of the 'Criteria for musicians and ensembles':
"Note that members of notable bands are redirected to the band's article, not given individual articles, unless they have demonstrated individual notability for activity independent of the band, such as solo releases. Singers and musicians who are only notable for participating in a reality television series may be redirected to an article about the series, until they have demonstrated that they are independently notable."

My emphasis added to highlight what applies here IMO. You may want to add something to the Morcheeba article instead. Gab4gab (talk) 13:56, 27 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:Paul Godfrey Studio Shot 2016.jpeg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Paul Godfrey Studio Shot 2016.jpeg, which you've attributed to Paul Godfrey. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 12:49, 1 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

File source and copyright licensing problem with File:Paul Godfrey Studio Shot 2016.jpeg edit

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Paul Godfrey Studio Shot 2016.jpeg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.

If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.

Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next seven days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. (ESkog)(Talk) 14:30, 15 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Draft first edit

Thank you for your recent contributions. Getting started creating new articles on Wikipedia can be tricky, and you might like to try creating a draft of your article in draftspace or in your userspace first, which you can then ask for feedback on if necessary, with less risk of deletion. Do make sure you also read help available to you, including Your First Article and the Tutorial. You might also like to try the Article Wizard, which has an option to create a draft version.
