Welcome! edit

Hello, VarahaDas, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! Hi Skyerise,
thank you for your kind message. It is great to see that I can receive help from more experienced editors like you, I really appreciate that!
Although I am a beginner in the editing process, I am aware of the guidelines of Wikipedia as this is part of an internship that I do in my psychological master where we had a tutor explaining us about the editing on Wikipedia. It is true that I am personally inspired by the subject of this page, but I have given my best to write in an objective manner and only added facts from the sources of which you told me yesterday that those can be seen as reliable ones.
I would appreciate if you could proofread future drafts and thereby help me to contribute to this page in a neutral and objective way. I have checked the link that you have send me for that but I still don`t understand how I can send you my drafts for proofreading. Could you perhaps explain this?
Best regards VarahaDas (talk) 22:15, 26 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
Typically by posting the proposed addition or changed material on the article talk page, using the templates {{Blockquote}} and {{Reflist-talk}}. As I mentioned elsewhere, the primary RS's out there are the Times of India and AP News sites. The book sources I've added as further reading also have useful material. Be sure not to confuse the teacher with the organization. If the material is primarily about the organization, it doesn't go on the teacher's page, and vice versa. Number of ashrams for example, goes on the org page. Skyerise (talk) 22:22, 26 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
Hi Skyerise,
Thanks for your help. I have seen now that you have deleted my contributions and must say I am confused about that as I have only added information from the times of India and the AP News so far. Could you please explain? VarahaDas (talk) 13:10, 27 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
If you don't stop editing the article and instead propose changes on the talk page, like someone with an admitted conflict of interest is supposed to do, I will have to report your editing conflict at the conflict of interest noticeboard. Skyerise (talk) 12:00, 31 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
Hi Skyerise,
Could you please tell me why I am considered as someone with an admitted conflict of interest? I am in no way being paid or hired by Vishwananda or Bhakti Marga but I am editing in the context of my internship for my psychological master. If you wish so I can ask my mentor to contact you about that, she is working for Wikimedia and offered this internship to my university. As I said, it is true that I feel inspired by Vishwananda, but could you please tell me why that means that have a conflict of interest? Is someone who feels inspired by Nelson Mandela or by Christiane Ronaldo not allowed to edit their pages? If this is true then I wonder how Wikipedia is supposed to work as we all naturally edit on pages where we have a personal interest on, isn't it?
I will stop editing now and wait for your response for 40 hours. Should you not respond I will continue editing. Should you still want to report me I kindly ask you to contact me again before doing so as it is important for my internship that I can continue editing for the next two months.
Best regards VarahaDas (talk) 20:21, 31 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
The fact that you made this change right after the notification suggest that you are an initiate of the subject and that you felt the need to hide that fact. Skyerise (talk) 20:32, 31 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for sharing your perspective. For now I will then follow your first suggestion and only create drafts that I share for proofreading before adding it. Please know that my intention was to make the necessary adjustments based on the notification for clarity and accuracy on a page that was clearly negatively biased. I am thankful that you intervened for the page is much better now already. I value further constructive feedback and will always strive for transparency. Let's continue to work collaboratively. Best regards VarahaDas (talk) 21:09, 31 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi VarahaDas. I see you've created this draft three times: once in German at Draft:Spirituality & Psychotherapy, and twice in English at Draft:Spirituality in Psychotherapy and Draft:Spirituality and Religion in Psychotherapy. Can you explain why you keep making new copies of the page? Please pick just one to work on. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 18:54, 29 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
Hi Ivanvector,
I am sorry for that. This was because I changed my mind about the title of the article and since I did not find any option to change it, I had to create new drafts instead. If you spoke German, you would see that I did not really work on the other drafts but just copied content from other pages to use their structure. Along the process, I will of course change the content. I am now also certain about the title, so no need for further drafts ;) VarahaDas (talk) 04:44, 30 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
