A friendly caution

edit

Hi there. I want to give you some clear, straight-forward advice: Using Wikipedia to push any given particular thing is likely to end badly. That is my personal opinion, not official Wikipedia policy, but I'm pretty sure my opinion is on the mark with this one. The Wikipedia community (myself included) really dislikes anyone using Wikipedia as a soapbox. It seems pretty obvious to me that you're pushing someone's "task manager" project. I've got nothing against that project -- honestly, I don't know it from a hole in the wall. But if you're here just to publicize that project, without considering the rest of Wikipedia, it's almost certainly going to end with the page deleted and your account blocked. If you're interested in contributing to Wikipedia as a community member, please feel free to reply here, and I'll try to help. —DragonHawk (talk|hist) 18:31, 18 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

I'm just trying to publicize my own program! Don't be mean about it. It's precious, and my parents appreciate the hard work I did on that page! Just don't delete it! — Preceding unsigned comment added by SMB Fan2010 (talkcontribs) 22:03, 18 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

My article is precious SMB Fan2010 (talk)

Decline reason:

I am declining your unblock request because it does not address the reason for your block, or because it is inadequate for other reasons. To be unblocked, you must convince the reviewing administrator(s) that

  • the block is not necessary to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, or
  • the block is no longer necessary because you
    1. understand what you have been blocked for,
    2. will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and
    3. will make useful contributions instead.

Please read the guide to appealing blocks for more information. 331dot (talk) 14:26, 19 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Task Manager (Zach, Inc.) moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, Task Manager (Zach, Inc.), is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 12:24, 19 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Trying to help

edit

Hello again.

Your account got blocked for refusing to work with others. Being blocked means you can only edit this talk page. If you can demonstrate a willingness to work with others, your account can be unblocked.

Blocking your account is not intended to be "mean". Wikipedia is like any other community, or group of friends, or team sport. If you do not work with the other people in the community, you cannot participate. If you had responded to the messages you were getting, people would likely have been willing to work with you. By ignoring what everyone was saying, you left the community with no choice but to block you.

You say you are just trying to publicize your own program. Self-promotion is very strongly frowned upon at Wikipedia. It is not enough that someone put in hard work, or is proud of something. Something can have value, but still not be appropriate for Wikipedia.

One requirement for inclusion as an article is coverage by neutral, third-party sources. In other words, if other people (like magazines or review sites) are talking about your program, that would be good. If your program isn't there yet, then there isn't enough to write an encyclopedia article about it.

Please feel free to edit this talk page, to ask questions. I'll help if I can, and if you put in the effort, too.
