Speedy deletion nomination of User:Roicomllc

edit

A tag has been placed on your user page, User:Roicomllc, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be advertising which only promotes or publicises someone or something. Promotional editing of any kind is not permitted, whether it be promotion of a person, company, product, group, service, belief, or anything else. This is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages — user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources or advertising space. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Contested deletion

edit

This page is not unambiguously promotional, because we are just providing basic information on who manages the user account. It is operated by a small PR firm in Sacramento, CA. There is no blatant promotion of products, services, links to services, etc. It simply states, "ROICOMLLC is operated by Michael Babowal, the president and CEO of ROICOM Consulting, LLC, dba, Interstate PR, a boutique public relations firm in Sacramento, CA." Fact is not promotion. Promotion would be, saying, "ROICOMLLC is operated by Michael Babowal, the president and CEO of ROICOM Consulting, LLC, dba, Interstate PR, one of the top public relations firms in Sacramento, CA. Interstate PR handles all needs of clients, including Wikipedia page creation. More information can be found at www.interstatepr.net."

There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing. Additionally, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for your contributions to Wikipedia, you must disclose who is paying you to edit.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In that reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block. To do so, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason for thinking that the block was an error, and publish the page. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 19:02, 18 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Novice User - Got Blocked without ANY HELP

Requested username:

Request reason:

I am a user who doesn't use Wikipedia to create or edit often, and trying to do things right; however, instead of getting assistance, all I got was technical responses that made no sense to me and was blocked immediately without an explanation, which I understood, of my errors and suggestions on how to fix those errors. I was trying my best to fix errors, apparently unsuccessfully, and was immediately blocked during my attempts. The two pages that I have tried to create are both for non-profit organizations, which I volunteer my time for. I have never been paid to create a Wikipedia article, nor do I ever plan to be paid to create a Wikipedia article. As such, I am not familiar with Wikipedia's communication system, and it is not intuitive to me, so seeking help has been difficult. I created my account with ROICOMLLC because that is a user name that I tend to use, I was not aware this is a violation. I also use the user name mbabowal often, and am more than happy to switch to that user name. As you can see by my actions or lack thereof, I am not using Wikipedia for promotion of my business. I've been in business for 10 years and have tried to create 2 articles - neither about my business. On my most recent article, draft:River City Chili Cook-Off, I have tried my hardest to fix errors and make changes as quickly as possible when people leave feedback. Please forgive me for not fully understanding what information should be included in the User Page. I respectfully hope that this block, is removed, my user name changed to mbabowal. Thank you.

Decline reason:

Your choice of new username seems acceptable.(note that usernames cannot be that of a business per the username policy) However, you indicated on your user page that your company is a public relations firm. Even if you are volunteering your services in this case, you still must comply with the paid editing policy. Please also review the conflict of interest policy. You aren't going to be unblocked to edit about anything related to your conflict of interest(paid or unpaid). If you want to edit about other subjects for which you have no conflict of interest, please tell what those might be along with your agreement to refrain from conflict of interest edits. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 21:07, 18 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Conflict of Interest Rules

edit

Seriously? I looked at the conflict of interest rules. It merely states that I need to state that I am a connected contributor. I’m happy to do that. I firmly believe you are being highly unreasonable.

Please reconsider. Roicomllc (talk) 21:23, 18 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Merely stating your connection does not give you a license to edit within your conflict of interest. You can make edit requests or use Articles for Creation, but you shouldn't make direct edits. You might (emphasis on might) later be permitted to make indirect edit requests or use Articles for Creation, but only if you want to be a general, individual Wikipedia contributor. If all you want to do is edit within your COI, this is the end of the road for your Wikipedia career. You are free to make a new unblock request to attempt to convince a different administrator to unblock you, if you wish. 331dot (talk) 21:36, 18 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
