Proposed deletion of Joseph Patrick Dwyer edit

The article Joseph Patrick Dwyer has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Nothing against this person or their contributions but this appears to be a case of WP:BIO1E. Lacks citations to significant coverage in reliable sources.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. RadioFan (talk) 11:06, 26 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Deletion nomination of File:Onering inscription.png edit

blanked page

Hi Rockoprem, this is a message from an automated bot, regarding File:Onering inscription.png. You blanked the page and, since you are its sole author, FrescoBot has interpreted it as a request for deletion of the page and asked administrators to satisfy the requests per speedy deletion criterion G7. Next time you want a page that you've created deleted, you can explicitly request the deletion by inserting the text {{db-author}}. If you didn't want the page deleted, please remove the {{db-author}} tag from the page and undo your blanking or put some content in the page. Admins are able to recover deleted pages. Please do not contact the bot operator for issues not related with bot's behaviour. To opt out of these bot messages, add {{bots|deny=FrescoBot}} somewhere on your talk page. -- FrescoBot (msg) 05:58, 24 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

File:Onering inscription.png missing description details edit

Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as File:Onering inscription.png is missing a description and/or other details on its image description page. If possible, please add this information. This will help other editors to make better use of the image, and it will be more informative for readers.

If the information is not provided, the image may eventually be proposed for deletion, a situation which is not desirable, and which can easily be avoided.

If you have any questions please see Help:Image page. Thank you. – Athaenara 09:10, 25 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

File source and copyright licensing problem with File:Onering inscription.png edit

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Onering inscription.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 10:28, 25 April 2010 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 10:28, 25 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

About Deepika Padukone's page edit

Sorry to break this to you Rockoprem, but in the state of Karnataka, Konkani is written with the Kannada script, in fact, all major public examinations in the Konkani language in Karnataka can be written in the Kannada script there. Refer to the Konkani language article. Signed, kotakkasut 17:58, 19 August 2010 (UTC).Reply

Also refer to Katrina Kaif and Jay Sean pages, see the style of their names written in their native tongue. kotakkasut 18:01, 19 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Yes, I am well aware of that. Infact, it is quite rare that a language has multiple scripts. Officially, according to the Govt. of India, the script is Devanagri for Konkani (Refer to a ₨ 10 note and wiki!). So, keeping in mind the situation and the trend followed on other wiki biography pages, I reverted your edit. Rockoprem (talk) 18:09, 19 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Lol, it's nice to know you too Rockoprem! BTW, sorry if I was being harsh to you aite... =) kotakkasut 05:51, 23 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

I noticed. edit

Why did you warn me? I'm pretty sure that you're just supposed to tag it whenever. Sorry anyways. Endofskull (talk) 18:51, 19 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Well, you're supposed to tag, alright! But, just check the time of creation of the article... (the article was then just 5 minutes old!!). Also, have a look at the talk page of the article.. some editors (including me), leave a message there! Rockoprem (talk) 18:55, 19 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Which article? And please don't yell at me, I feel bad enough for getting a red flag. :( Endofskull (talk) 19:16, 19 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
This article... and No! I never yelled at you! Words like "kindly" , "request" & "please" do not count as rude or yelling! They may have a tinge of satire, though..!! THIS IS YELLING!! This is not!! ..and if you feel like leaving wiki (as you had previously posted & deleted!).. please do so and post those messages on your wiki page! I have to get back to editing now.. Have fun exploring wikipedia! :) Peace! Rockoprem (talk) 19:25, 19 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
You made that... I didn't know you made that article! You really need to be referencing before publishing. Or you could just tag it as under construction. Sorry for the confusion. Endofskull (talk) 19:47, 19 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use File:Ananth_kumar.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Ananth_kumar.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Melesse (talk) 01:33, 20 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

If you look at the reference given there, about BJP being Hindu Nationalist and the IP 117.197.56.143 running around and having a gala time! Else, we must completely remove that line and reference!

You may well be right. I'm not familiar with this issue, and it appeared at first look that the original source was good. I'll revert back if you would prefer me to do it. Jusdafax 16:51, 23 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Reviewer permission edit

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

For the guideline on reviewing, see Wikipedia:Reviewing. Being granted reviewer rights doesn't change how you can edit articles even with pending changes. The general help page on pending changes can be found here, and the general policy for the trial can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 15:45, 23 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image File:Conkyubuntu.png edit

Thanks for uploading File:Conkyubuntu.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

PLEASE NOTE:

  • I am a bot, and will therefore not be able to answer your questions.
  • I will remove the request for deletion if the file is used in an article once again.
  • If you receive this notice after the image is deleted, and you want to restore the image, click here to file an un-delete request.

Ram Gopal Varma and vandalism accusations edit

You've just reverted some edits to Ram Gopal Varma by User:203.109.117.147 and dropped {{uw-vandal3}} on that IP's talk page, which had received no earlier warnings. While I agree the edits were unconstructive, I'm not convinced they were made in bad-faith. What caused you to believe they were vandalism, and jump straight to a level-3 warning? me_and (talk) 12:40, 27 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Yes, I agree level-3 warning was a bit harsh. But, I have been reverting quite a lot of such edits lately and most of the time, I see no real contributions from random IPs. Of course, there are some articles with sensible IP edits and I think before warning them! Thanks for the notification, anyway! ROCKOPREMtalk 12:51, 27 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
I know the feeling only too well. Still, however frustrating it is, I'm still going to gently point you at WP:AGF. That said, I'll also thank you for keeping an eye on things and reverting unconstructive edits. It's a bloody thankless task sometimes, so thanks. me_and (talk) 13:56, 27 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
Well, thank you too! However, in my last 10 rollbacks, I could include an AGF just about once or so! In fact, presently I am following a troller.. ROCKOPREMtalk 13:59, 27 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for File:Conkyubuntu.png edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Conkyubuntu.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 11:30, 7 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

File copyright problem with File:Rama Bijapurkar.jpg edit

Thank you for uploading File:Rama Bijapurkar.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright and licensing status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can verify that it has an acceptable license status and a verifiable source. Please add this information by editing the image description page. You may refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads.

Barkha Dutt edit

Hi, I am just curious as to why you converted prose at Barkha Dutt into a list? There are currently a couple of active threads on the article talk page, one of which touches on an award issue. As I understand things, lists are deprecated: if it can be done in prose then we do it in prose. Am I misunderstanding? - Sitush (talk) 08:26, 23 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi Sitush! I didn't know that lists were deprecated. Could you please give me some link to wiki-manual of style or a village pump discussion? I only converted the prose in the awards section because list of awards are usually listed. I would be happy to revert back my edits if it doesn't conform with the norms. ROCKOPREMtalk 08:44, 23 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
I think that WP:EMBED probably covers it but, as always with MOS, it is just a guideline and is inevitably subjective. I am not suggesting that you revert but was curious regarding your rationale. There are far more awkward issues relating to that article than how we format things :) Sitush (talk) 08:58, 23 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
True! Thanks for that link! I also went through a couple of other articles to compare and have reverted my edits. I had made those edits because I felt that a list of awards were easier to read as a list rather than a prose. But I guess it is just a matter of taste! ROCKOPREMtalk 09:08, 23 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
It sure is! I think that when the awards are disparate then prose works but when they are, for example, Olympic/World Champs/Commonwealth Games/Asian Games medals then lists are probably better because there is often not much in the way of words that can be added & things can get repetitive very quickly. Does that make any sort of sense? - Sitush (talk) 09:52, 23 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
