Thank you kindly edit

Thanks for the nifty award - a true barnstar! I'm honored to be the first recipient.

Ironically, I've been thinking that we should give some kind of recognition to User:Vaoverland - when I went on my "spree", I was impressed with how many VA related articles he contributed to. So, this is the perfect award, though I may wait a little to savor my status as the sole recipient...--Kubigula (talk) 02:52, 27 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

If you think Vaoverland earned it, I'll be happy to drop one over, or your welcome to drop one over on his talk page. And do have bad news, you're actually the second person to receive it. The first went to User:Plange, she's the one who setup everything for the WPVa...but er, second is the best, isn't that how the rhyme goes? :) ~ (The Rebel At) ~ 10:30, 27 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
Ah well, at least I got to think I was the first for a few hours. As for Vaoverland, I think it would be nice for you to give it to him, as I've already complimented him a couple of times. The guy's a machine - I'd be willing to be he's written more VA content than any three of the rest of us combined.--Kubigula (talk) 03:04, 28 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

I also wanted to drop by and thank you for the barn star award! It looks fantastic. I just wanted to add my two cents and help out with an area I know a little bit about. Thanks again! Chrisfortier 13:08, 7 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

You're welcome, in my opinion, earned it. At kubigula's suggestion, I'm off to place on one Vaoverland's talk. ~ (The Rebel At) ~ 21:18, 7 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Merger proposed: John C. Colling → Dixie Mission edit

It has been proposed to merge the content of John C. Colling into Dixie Mission. Since you have previously edited one of these articles, I thought you might be interested. You're welcome to participate in the discussion if you like. --B. Wolterding 12:59, 28 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

DC Meetup notice edit

Greetings. There is going to be a Washington DC Wikipedia meetup on next Saturday, July 21st at 5pm in DC. Since you are listed in Category:Wikipedians_in_Virginia, I thought I'd invite you to come. I'm sorry about the short notice for the meeting. Hopefully we'll do somewhat better in that regard next time. If you can't come but want to make sure that you are informed of future meetings be sure to list yourself under "but let me know about future events", and if you don't want to get any future direct notices \(like this one\), you can list yourself under "I'm not interested in attending any others either" on the DC meetup page.--Gmaxwell 22:08, 14 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

United States Capitol dome edit

This looks excellent. Surely something here worth submitting to Template talk:Did you know. --Aude (talk) 20:06, 15 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Though, I notice you are uploading pictures. Would it be possible for you to upload them to Wikimedia Commons - http://commons.wikimedia.org/Special:Upload - so we can keep pictures organized and all together? --Aude (talk) 20:08, 15 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, Aude. I was considering dropping it over in DYK, I'll definitely do it now. As for Wikimedia Commons, I probably don't have time to re-upload all the images I've put up, but I can certainly do all future ones there, and when I do have the time, go back do ones I've done before. ~ (The Rebel At) ~ 21:07, 15 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

New Article Improvment page for WP:VIRGINIA edit

Seeing as our old Collaborations page at WP:VIRGINIA had no activity in the past year it was decided to replace it with a new Article Improvement/Request Help page that would allow members to list articles in need of attention. Its also a place to request help for an article taht you are working on to see if any other members would like to volunteer and help out. Thanks. T Rex | talk 01:13, 4 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Uofarklawlogo.gif edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Uofarklawlogo.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Uofarklawlogo.gif) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Uofarklawlogo.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 06:21, 24 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Unspecified source for Image:WPVA.png edit

Thanks for uploading Image:WPVA.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 00:54, 23 January 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Calliopejen1 (talk) 00:54, 23 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Wahs.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Wahs.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 03:16, 12 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Main page nomination for Manzanar edit

With the 39th Annual Manzanar Pilgrimage coming up on April 26, I have nominated Manzanar to be on Wikipedia's main page on that date. Please add your support for that at Today's featured article requests -- Gmatsuda (talk)

The nomination was removed intially because there can only be five nominations on that page, but it's back, so if you are so incllined, please offer your support. Thanks! -- Gmatsuda (talk) 21:06, 4 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Spiegel Grove / Rutherford B. Hayes estate photo edit

Hi RebelAt -- I visited the Spiegel Grove article to add some information. I notice you uploaded and included a picture of Rutherford B. Hayes and Lucy Hayes on the porch of the house, back in July of 2006. The picture is nice and adds to the article, in fact in my edits I at first moved it up to show early in the article. But unfortunately I believe the photo is copyrighted and should be deleted from wikipedia. Your stated justification back then, that the photo is stated to be available for research purposes, is inadequate justification to upload it and assert that a Creative Commons license applies, in my view. Perhaps that would be your own view now, too.

Please discuss at Image talk:Hayeshouse.jpg. If you now agree that the photo should be deleted, I suppose it would be most helpful if you would delete it yourself or make a request for deletion yourself. doncram (talk) 19:00, 9 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your replies, and for being gracious about it. I have now put in a deletion request for it. In the article, there is now an external link to the photo though. Also, f.y.i., I did try looking at Historic American Buildings Survey for any other old picture of the house, but find that they only have measured drawings of the house (which I added as another external link). doncram (talk) 22:06, 9 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
P.S. I notice your picture above of Montpelier in Virginia in 2006. I am currently working on List of National Historic Landmarks in Ohio (which includes Spiegel Grove), but expect to move on soon to edit List of National Historic Landmarks in Virginia, because those are 2 of the last state NHL lists needing development. Hmm... I see that Montpelier is in fact an NHL and your pic of Montpelier is already included in the VA NHL list-article, great. There are lots of other National Historic Landmarks on those lists that do need photos, too. Keep up the good work. :) doncram (talk) 22:06, 9 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Virginia NHLs edit

Thanks for tip about there being two Christ Church (Alexandria, Virginia) articles. I just quickly merged the material from the other version that I had created, into the previous existing one, and setup a redirect to it. And thanks for posting the nice pic to the List of National Historic Landmarks in Virginia. I wonder if there are other red-links in that list which should be redirected to pre-existing articles.

There's plenty of other development and cleanup needed there, too, and actually i have just invited several people that have worked with me before to join in. I find it a lot more enjoyable when there are others contributing, too, and I'm glad to learn that you might be part of that. Please do stay involved there! Thanks again, doncram (talk) 01:14, 10 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hey i wondered where you had gone. The List of NHLs in VA has come along pretty far. Hope u don't mind i browsed your recent contributions and found your Canehill sandbox, to which i added an NRHP infobox.

Also, in that info from the NRIS there is mention of a Canehill MRA (Multiple Resource Assessment or something like that). Here is the URL, it appears to be a good source for some info about the College, as well as much more in the Canehill commnity: http://www.nr.nps.gov/multiples/64000023.pdf.
