November Articles for creation backlog drive

Hello Reading Beans:

WikiProject Articles for creation is holding a month long Backlog Drive!
The goal of this drive is to reduce the backlog of unreviewed drafts to less than 2 months outstanding reviews from the current 4+ months. Bonus points will be given for reviewing drafts that have been waiting more than 30 days. The drive is running from 1 November 2023 through 30 November 2023.

You may find Category:AfC pending submissions by age or other categories and sorting helpful.

Barnstars will be given out as awards at the end of the drive.

There is a backlog of over 2300 pages, so start reviewing drafts. We're looking forward to your help! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:24, 31 October 2023 (UTC)

re: the nomination

hey! I hope i wasn't untoward – I'll mark the nomination as withdrawn, but i'm also happy to work with you to find a different hook, if you'd like. Feel free to ping :) theleekycauldron (talk • she/her) 04:48, 3 November 2023 (UTC)

@Theleekycauldron, I doubt if there’s an interesting facts about Igbo literature. So, no need to sweat it. Best, Reading Beans (talk) 04:58, 3 November 2023 (UTC)
That makes sense :) would you still be open to the hook running as-is? theleekycauldron (talk • she/her) 15:08, 3 November 2023 (UTC)
If it can run as it is then I’m fine with it. If it can’t, then, who am I? Best, Reading Beans (talk) 16:09, 3 November 2023 (UTC)
@Reading Beans Refer me to the nom page make I give you agba hook ;-) Vanderwaalforces (talk) 16:25, 3 November 2023 (UTC)

hanhan, I think say Vaticidalprophet don promote that one already na, the discussion is even closed. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 16:33, 3 November 2023 (UTC)
Yes. I had already moved on until I got a ping this morning. Apparently, someone thinks it needs to be closed as not promoted because it’s not "sweet" (aka interesting). Me sha no need stress atol! Reading Beans (talk) 16:41, 3 November 2023 (UTC)
wahala wahala, welp, it has been promoted. Is there anything that can be done to unpromote it? Vanderwaalforces (talk) 16:47, 3 November 2023 (UTC)
  • Yup! She can remove it from the queue if she deems it fit. The consensus was in favour of the hook I proposed and if you can suggest something that would tickle her fancy, it would be appreciated. Reading Beans (talk) 16:51, 3 November 2023 (UTC)
It's just very disappointing and I no wan tok/type wetin bin enta my mind. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 17:36, 3 November 2023 (UTC)

2018–2019 Gaza border protests

Thank you for taking the time to review the requested move at 2018–2019 Gaza border protests.

Please note that a counterargument was made regarding the quotes, when it was proven that a similar article, The Troubles, is in a similar situation, which the previous closing admin had agreed with after writing the closure notice, and also many other editors during the discussion.

I think that this counterargument, and the fact that 6 were supportive (basing our arguments on WP:POVNAME) vs 5 against, were not taken into consideration during the closure. Thank you for your reconsideration given this context. Makeandtoss (talk) 12:27, 7 November 2023 (UTC)

@Makeandtoss, I’ve gone through the discussion again and I’m sorry, I can’t open or relist the discussion. Your points are valid; the opposing points too are. The no consensus was the best thing to do. Perhaps, consider reconsider opening another discussion in few months time. Thank you for your works on Wikipedia. All the best, Reading Beans (talk) 12:39, 7 November 2023 (UTC)
Could you please refer to one counterargument made by editors on how The Troubles have been referred to in quotes by reliable sources? Makeandtoss (talk) 12:46, 7 November 2023 (UTC)
Can you perhaps, clarify? Best, Reading Beans (talk) 14:25, 7 November 2023 (UTC)
The argument which some opposing editors have made that the "Great March of Return" is referenced in quotes so that this is not a common name, to which I made a counterargument that "The Troubles" are also referred to in quotes in reliable sources; thus this is not a valid argument. This point has not been responded to, therefore, there are no justifications for not moving the article and abiding by WP:COMMONNAME. Makeandtoss (talk) 14:59, 7 November 2023 (UTC)
My closing comment explained this. I added no consensus because none of the arguments won; WP:POVNAME and COMMONNAME didn't "win". The Troubles are sometimes referred to in quotes and most times without quotes. Like, I did say, the closure was made in good faith. Perhaps, in the next few months, consensus could be changed. Best, Reading Beans (talk) 15:08, 7 November 2023 (UTC)
That is incorrect. As per the sources cited all for The Troubles of the references used quotes, while a large portion of the sources cited for the Great March of Return were not in quotes. Makeandtoss (talk) 13:30, 8 November 2023 (UTC)
Let the move review run its course smoothly, mhm? That’s the thing about consensus. But, what if, my close gets endorse? Will you accept it in good faith? Best, Reading Beans (talk) 13:46, 8 November 2023 (UTC)

Move review for 2018–2019 Gaza border protests

An editor has asked for a Move review of 2018–2019 Gaza border protests. Because you closed the move discussion for this page, or otherwise were interested in the page, you might want to participate in the move review. Makeandtoss (talk) 13:31, 8 November 2023 (UTC)

On Michael Venus's RM closure

The discussion had Deleted to make way for page move as a target title, but it is a placeholder title, which the article should not be moved to. Was it done accidentally? – robertsky (talk) 12:54, 7 November 2023 (UTC)

Actually, no. But, I was supposed to tag it for deletion afterwards. Moving to the placeholder and tagging for deletion was (to me) a lot easier than pageswapping.
Thank you for cleaning up after me. Extreme carefulness is to be applied next time. Best, Reading Beans (talk) 14:24, 7 November 2023 (UTC)

Relisting

Hello. Could I ask why this RM was relisted when it was unanimously opposed by everyone that responded to it (rather than simply being closed)? Cheers, Number 57 14:50, 10 November 2023 (UTC)

The opposes were mostly repeating your oppose; this ofcourse was not disregarded but I relisted to see if policies will be cited or additional opposes. I would close the RM in the next seven days if nothing changes. I hope this helps. Best Reading Beans (talk) 15:02, 10 November 2023 (UTC)

DYK for Igbo literature

On 11 November 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Igbo literature, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that History of the Mission of the Evangelical Brothers in the Caribbean by C. G. A. Oldendorp was the first book to publish Igbo-language terms in 1777? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Igbo literature. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Igbo literature), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Welcome back from the break, User: Reading Beans. Hope your device is up and doing again. You're doing well. Once again welcome back. Ezra Cricket (talk) 12:10, 11 November 2023 (UTC)

Dumela (album)

Hello Reading Beans, I see you've marked the above mentioned article as reviewed but there are no cited sources to it as the first is a download link the second is "unaccessible". Question, on what grounds did the article meet notability? dxneo (talk) 08:13, 12 November 2023 (UTC)

It's a candidate for deletion. I had it on my tabs while doing a WP:BEFORE. Best, Reading Beans (talk) 08:55, 12 November 2023 (UTC)
on a second thought, I redirect to the page of the musician. You are free to revert and nominate for deletion if you wish. Best, Reading Beans (talk) 08:58, 12 November 2023 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Becky Okorie

The article Becky Okorie has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

non notable actress

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

Thanks for your contributions to article, Becky Okorie but there is no significant and independent coverage about the subject. Do add filmography and awards if possible. Thanks Styling Pen (talk) 11:52, 12 November 2023 (UTC)

Chincoteague

Hi! Would you consider undoing your close of the move discussion? While there are obviously more supports than opposes (mine), I'm not wholly convinced that you've correctly weighed the policy-based arguments – there's no clarity as to whether we should be considering the sources (which I think I've shown convincingly do not support a move), or be based on MOS:LIFE and other pages written by the MOS police. I'd hoped for the input of an experienced admin on that. Thanks, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 16:43, 13 November 2023 (UTC)

@Justlettersandnumbers, I’ve undone it. You can move it to the previous location. I'm not an experienced adminstrator. Best, Reading Beans (talk) 16:58, 13 November 2023 (UTC)
That's very good of you – I expect it'll anyway end as you closed it, by the way. It wouldn't be appropriate for me to move the page myself as I've both edited the page and participated in the discussion. Would you perhaps care to list it at WP:RM/TR? Many thanks, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 17:03, 13 November 2023 (UTC)
I've reverted myself. Best, Reading Beans (talk) 17:10, 13 November 2023 (UTC)
I just want to know though. Would you have accepted my judgement if I was an administrator? Seeing that the RM would likely end I had closed it. Best, Reading Beans (talk) 17:16, 13 November 2023 (UTC)

elections RM relist

Thanks for the relisting at Talk:May 1992 Yugoslavian parliamentary election. Do you happen to have any suggestions as to how to get people to participate in a consensus-building discussion, or to invite others to review it? Right now it's been more like a drive-by opposition, without much consideration of sources, policy, etc, but it still sounds lopsided. --Joy (talk) 16:20, 10 November 2023 (UTC)

@Joy, I believe notifying WikiProjects that this could interest is one of the ways (only I know in times like this) of getting more !votes in a way that isn't canvassing. I hope this helps. Best, Reading Beans (talk) 19:13, 10 November 2023 (UTC)
Thanks, I've done that now. --Joy (talk) 09:17, 13 November 2023 (UTC)

I noticed that you closed the discussion with a bland no consensus to move outcome. Regardless of the merits of that, can I ask you to at least try to examine for consensus to move to the alternative Federal Republic of Yugoslavia name? Several people in the discussion said that explicitly. --Joy (talk) 04:51, 17 November 2023 (UTC)

The reason I'm appealing for this is that another editor has already tried to use the verdict to influence two other discussions in Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2023 November 8 and Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2023 November 11, which means that this could well lead to an overall outcome that is contrary to what is actually said in this RM because that's how these things tend to go, nobody really wants to do the hard part of WP:DETCON. --Joy (talk) 04:55, 17 November 2023 (UTC)

Joy, I think you're trying to make me do what you want at this point. If you’re unsatisfied with my closer, please, open a move review. Best, Reading Beans (talk) 05:15, 17 November 2023 (UTC)
Sorry if it comes off that way, I'm just basically annoyed with the fact I wasn't able to really build a whole lot of consensus there. If you really think there's no way to extract even a slight amount of consensus about using the "Federal Republic of" prefix, I won't even bother filing a review. --Joy (talk) 06:07, 17 November 2023 (UTC)
Don’t be. Consensus changes with time. Perhaps if you open a new RM in the next few months for xxxx FR of Yugoslavia election, it may pan out well. For now, the several people in this current discussion didn't build that consensus we're looking for. And thank you for taking this in good faith. All the best! Your GA nomination of Ngwa people

The article Ngwa people you nominated as a good article has passed  ; see Talk:Ngwa people for comments about the article, and Talk:Ngwa people/GA1 for the nomination. Well done! If the article has never appeared on the Main Page as a "Did you know" item, and has not appeared within the last year either as "Today's featured article", or as a bold link under "In the news" or in the "On this day" prose section, you can nominate it within the next seven days to appear at DYK. Bolded names with dates listed at the bottom of the "On this day" column do not affect DYK eligibility.   Hello. This is a message to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions appeared to be constructive and have been appreciated. Please take some time to nominate yourself for adminship. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 10:38, 17 November 2023 (UTC)

@Ritchie333, thank you for your recommendations. If I am to run, it would be around December. How's that? Reading Beans (talk) 08:25, 18 November 2023 (UTC)
Okay, I'm a bit busy this week but expect an email at some point that explains in greater detail whether I think you'd pass RfA now (and if not, when) and further advice. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 16:58, 18 November 2023 (UTC)
No problem, Ritchie. Best, Reading Beans (talk) 19:10, 22 November 2023 (UTC)

Talk:Royal Charleroi S.C.

Erm, why did you close and move when there wasn't much of an input from people yet? Surely you should have left that longer. Some moves can be left for a long time. I suggest to you to revert what you've done. Regards. Govvy (talk) 09:55, 22 November 2023 (UTC)

There was consensus to move it to Royal Charleroi S.C.. It has been relisted after the 7 days period by Jenk24. Are you saying I should relist it for the second time when there's a consensus? Best, Reading Beans (talk) 19:09, 22 November 2023 (UTC)

Comic Book Resources → CBR Move Request Closed

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Comic_Book_Resources -- I don't believe this request should be closed. Comic Book Resources is not the name of the publication. While some people may still call it that out of habit, it's not the correct name, so it's not helpful to have it listed incorrectly. It should be CBR, CBR (Website) or CBR.com. Reaching out here as it looks like this was the last stop before the request was closed. Appreciate your reconsideration. JonArvedon (talk) 21:13, 27 November 2023 (UTC)

As the managing editor of the website, I think you should read WP:NATURAL and let consensus thrive. Best, Reading Beans (talk) 11:12, 30 November 2023 (UTC)

2023 Kerala bombing

Was this a mistake? Shouldn't this be a move? The Doom Patrol (talk) 15:19, 29 November 2023 (UTC)

What's happening?

You closed this discussion with a decision to not move the article, more than a week ago. I don't understand why you've now gone and changed your mind, with no rationale or discussion whatsoever. This seems out of process. The matter was finished, and the case to move wasn't made. Please self-revert back back to your original decision of not moved, as originally closed.  — Amakuru (talk) 22:13, 29 November 2023 (UTC)

I have not really been feeling too well for some days (as my contribution indicates). When I received the message from Doom Patrol, I thought I made a mistake in interpreting the consensus and had to change. I'll self-revert and please, revert the move made by the other user. Best, Reading Beans (talk) 10:44, 30 November 2023 (UTC)
Hi again, not a problem - I get confused myself sometimes! From my (admittedly biased) viewpoint I think you made the correct decision. The case was not made for a WP:COMMONNAME switch to the alternative title, despite the numbers of the !votes involved. Thanks for handling this, and wishing you a speedy recovery from your illness! Cheers  — Amakuru (talk) 13:06, 30 November 2023 (UTC)
I agree with you. Thanks so much for your wish. Reading Beans (talk) 16:30, 30 November 2023 (UTC)
