Hi, you created Category:Hard science fiction a few days back and there's been some discussion in the category talk page you should probably contribute to. Specifically, what sort of inclusion criteria are there for a category like this? Category:Military science fiction is empirically defined; it is easy to identify science fiction stories where military conflict constitute major parts of the storylines. Re. the above: I have been using the criteria given in the article description, which match my understanding of the genre. Recently, I removed three entries (from the article), which you have been persistently adding back. So I will explain them here: from the criteria given in the article, Robinson fails immediately: he violates laws of physics on a regular basis and does not explore the technical implications of the modifications he invokes. Similarly, 2001 and 2010 fail because of things like the Star Child. The Andromeda Strain is awash with contradictions, such as an organism being able to replicate in vaccuum on a metal substrate while being subjected to an ion probe yet not being able to survive a slightly changed concentration of hydrogen ions in a fluid environment. Contact is at the edge: it invokes a lot of different ideas, but Sagan did explore them carefully. Michaelbusch 17:05, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

Europe 10,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
