Notability of academic conferences
editHi. I see that you've created a few articles on academic conferences, and they've all been nominated for deletion. The key requirement for a subject to have an article on Wikipedia is "notability". This means that the topic "has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject" — check out the link for information about what counts as "significant", "reliable" and "independent".
Individual academic conferences (e.g., the 17th International Conference on Example Studies) are very rarely notable: outside that academic field, almost nobody talks about them. Except for maybe an article in the local newspaper mentioning that the Example Studies conference is coming to town (which isn't significant coverage), there's usually no coverage at all. Even within the field, academics are much more likely to talk about the papers presented at the conference than the conference itself and we have a guideline that "notability is not inherited": essentially, that says that a whole event doesn't become notable just because some notable person attended it. Even series of academic conferences (e.g., the whole sequence of International Conferences on Example Studies, numbers 1–17) are usually not notable, for the same reason: nobody outside the immediate field talks about them.
Only a very few conferences are notable. For example, the BBC recently carried an article about the American Physical Society's meetings and often has articles about the Lunar and Planetary Science Conference (but, again, they're mostly about the papers presented there). It's the same as with academic journals: ordinary people have heard of Science and Nature and nothing else because most journals receive no mainstream coverage.
