Verifiability, and reliable sources

edit

Hello, and welcome! Before you add material on controversial topics such as stalking, could you please first read WP:V and WP:RS, about what kinds of sources are regarded under Wikipedia's policies as suitable for supporting assertions in articles? -- The Anome (talk) 18:58, 24 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Could you also please read the multiple discussions of this topic at Talk:Stalking? -- The Anome (talk) 19:05, 24 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Since talk pages are not intended to be a place to draft articles, I've now moved your article draft to User:Paulc2/Gang Stalking. To see what to do next, please see Wikipedia:So you made a userspace draft. -- The Anome (talk) 19:16, 24 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

April 2011

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, but when you add or change content, as you did to the article Pantheon, Rome, please cite a reliable source for the content of your edit. This helps maintain our policy of verifiability. See Wikipedia:Citing sources for how to cite sources, and the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Old Moonraker (talk) 12:55, 26 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

May I echo the point made by User:Anome? Please find the time to look at WP:RS and, especially, WP:SPS. Best. --Old Moonraker (talk) 14:11, 26 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Gang Stalking Lawsuit

edit

The article Gang Stalking Lawsuit has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No indication of notability

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. IRT Gang Stalking Lawsuit intro

edit

Greetings, your "introduction" is not what a lede is, and is actually unnecessary because you can simply link to the term gang stalking. An intro or "lede" establishes the basic who/what/when/where/why of a topic, and you can note this at the start of pretty much any decent Wikipedia article. Suggest you read WP:LEDE for format ideas. Further, none of your sources except for the legal documents are WP:Reliable sources. Again, a requirement of Notability is some level of third-party substantive coverage from reputable academic or new outlets. MatthewVanitas (talk) 17:11, 7 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Took another look: most of your content at that article has nothing to do with the Lawsuit, and is just general information about gang stalking. This is WP:COATRACK and really not workable. Further, the very title of the page appears to be WP:Original research, unless you have evidence that court documents or the legitimate media generally refer to it as "the Gang Stalking Lawsuit". Moving page to "Gang Stalking"

edit

I have court documents, but if you want to move the page to "Gang Stalking" with just a section on the lawsuit, that's fine with me. As long as "Gang Stalking" get's its own page separate from the general "stalking" page. Paulc2 (talk) 19:51, 7 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Court documents at WP:Primary sources, so insufficient for a standalong article, but can possibly be added as part of another article. The only issue would be whether discussing this one case at Stalking would be WP:Undue weight, since there are no citations demonstrating that this legal case has any notability or is receiving any third-party coverage. So far as having a separate Gang stalking page, again note the massive amount of discussion at Talk:Stalking on the matter; there simply isn't a body of reputable evidence proving that this is actually "a thing". Nobody is denying that sometimes stalkers and bullies work in groups, the issue is that there is no documenation that the "Gang stalking victim" community is other than a smattering of people undergoing group bullying/harassment, and then a much larger body of people with mental issues convinced that folks are walking on their roof at night and shooting laser beams through their ceiling. The credibility just isn't there, and then it goes into a feedback cycle where "enthusiasts" of the topic insist that Wikipedia and the rest of the world is conspiring to silence them. It's been a frustrating issue, and leads to tons of anonymous IPs and new account coming in to blatantly advocate for a cause rather than dispassionately cover a topic. WP:Articles for deletion is a week or so behind schedule, but once they get to Gang Stalking Lawsuit it will be deleted if there is no third-party coverage of this specific case. And content not specific to this particular case does not belong in this specific of an article. MatthewVanitas (talk) 20:02, 7 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
