M249 FAC
editGood luck next time! I know it can be a rough process at first -- I got turned down on my first FAC, too. Let me know when you resubmit. JKBrooks85 (talk) 10:16, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks, it is lol. I'll let you know then, first I have to fix it...--Pattont/c 16:56, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

- Same, however I don't know what good responding there will do. If he continues as he did before that discussion he will be desyssoped, if he mends his ways then brilliant.--Pattont/c 15:45, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
Thanks
editStalking? If you're helping me reply to someone, heck, no worries at all, your assistance is much appreciated. I tend to reply to new users on their own talk pages so that they'll see the asterisk and therefore my response, but you were very clear... I might just borrow some of that language. Thanks. editPersonal attack?
editRegarding this edit, I have reviewed the interaction and I still don't believe it was a "personal attack", particularly as, from my point of view, I was defending myself from his "personal attack". However, I gather you have a different opinion. I would be somewhat interested to know why you think what I wrote was a "personal attack", but this person has already wasted hours of my time that I'd prefer to have spent productively (e.g. like adding to the article he has frivolously and unjustifiably nominated as CSD A7). So, I will simply say:
Thank you for informing me of your opinion. Henceforth I will attempt to use words that nobody could possibly interpret as being a personal attack. Pdfpdf (talk) 13:52, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
- Calling someone's work "rubbish" and "absolute rubbish" is usually regarded as incivil. I'm sure you were just angry at having your article nominated for speedy deletion, but you still shouldn't do say stuff like that friend – it creates a nasty atmosphere and hinders cooperation.--Pattont/c 13:56, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
- I see your point. Undoubtedly saying "Rubbish" is less inflamatory than using four-letter versions of "excrement", but as you allude, is still not likely to "win friends and influence people". (Well, not in a positive manner ... )
- OK. Thanks. Cheers, Pdfpdf (talk) 15:41, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, basically. Thanks for your understanding.--Pattont/c 15:43, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
Stewards' election
editYou very kindly answered my question on the help page on the above, but you have not specified the mechanics, rather answered the question with itself. The question is HOW TO link the two accounts? Sorry if you think that this is elementary, but even something that appears evident can be missed. Regards LouisBB (talk) 14:44, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
- Oh right, simply copy the URl and link to it on the other wiki using an external link.--Pattont/c 14:47, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

ACC tool access request approved
editThank you for your interest in the account creation process. I have verified that you have signed the confidentiality agreement for nonpublic information and approved your request.
You may now access the interface here. Before you begin handling requests, please ensure you have read and understood the account creation guide and username policy to familiarize yourself with the process.
Please subscribe yourself to the private ACC mailing list following the instructions on that page. I also advise that you also join us on IRC #wikipedia-en-accounts connect where a bot informs us when new account requests come in and you can get real time advice on how to handle requests.
Please note failure to correctly assess requests will result in suspension of tool access. Account creation is not a race, and each one should be handled diligently and thoroughly. Releasing personally identifying information (such as IP and email addresses), whether intentionally or unintentionally, is treated very seriously and will generally result in immediate suspension.
Currently you are allowed to create up to six accounts per day, and you won't be able to create an account with a similar name to that of another user; these requests are marked as "Flagged user needed" on the interface. However, if you reach the limit frequently, you can request the account creator permission at Wikipedia:Requests for permissions/Account creator.
Please don't hesitate to get in touch with me if you have any questions. Thank you for participating in the account creation process. Again welcome! Stwalkerster [ talk ] 19:38, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
Welcome to Milhist!

A few features that you might find helpful:
- Our navigation box points to most of the useful pages within the project.

- The project has several departments, which handle article quality assessment, detailed article and content review, writing contests, article logistics, and other tasks.
- We have a number of task forces that focus on specific topics, nations, periods, and conflicts.
- We've developed a style guide that covers article structure and content, template use, categorization, and many other issues of interest.
- If you're looking for something to work on, there are many articles that need attention, as well as a number of review alerts and copy-editing alerts.

The Emily Post Institute AfD
editHi Patton123 - I closed the AfD as it seems you were using Google Ireland to search for references to the subject. I had given my vote as delete per your comment and Google link, but another editor voted Strong Keep because the number of refs on the main Google search site is much greater than the ones you were seeing. I also removed the AfD notice from the article. Hope you don't mind, but I felt it was the right thing to do. No wonder my Google searches were a little weird there for a while :) §FreeRangeFrog 07:59, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
- Sure friend, I now believe it should be kept, howevever I don't really think you should have speedily closed the afd as keep, the article isn't as "clearly notable" the same way Botswana or the M4 Sherman. Please refrain from doing so in cases like in future, because others may have wanted the article deleted.--Pattont/c 16:32, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
- I've checked again and it was set to search "the web" not "web pages from Ireland", so you were wrong to close it early, as it does't bring up different results unless you tell it to exclude non Irish webpages. I don't have access to google.com because it automatically redirects me to google Ireland.--Pattont/c 18:12, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
- Seriously? [1] §FreeRangeFrog 18:34, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
- [2] same results different order. I didn't look far enough down the page. I can't use google.com myself because I am redirected to google Ireland.--Pattont/c 18:38, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
- We might be seeing different things, I don't know. For example, this is one of many references found when doing a site search of cnn.com from Google. §FreeRangeFrog 19:11, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

IMDB
editI see you posted this on my talk page
I think you'll find that the internet movie database is not a reliable source as it is uses user-posted information. See Wikipedia:Citing IMDb. Only a very small amount of the info on it is regarded as reliable
Well, doesn't wikipedia use use user-posted information too? Saying Silence of the Lambs is a horror movie is like saying every other thriller film is also a horror movie. 201.68.136.107 (talk) 18:30, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
- Yes I know I'm just telling you that IMBd isn't a perfectly reliable source. I'm sure there are other sources out there.--Pattont/c 18:34, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
New page patrol
editThanks for the barnstar, I'm honoured. I have to admit, though, that I'm trying to limber up after some recent hand surgery and so I was trying to see how fast I could go, so it was a bit self-serving. But I do delete attack pages as fast as I possibly can. Anyway, thanks! Accounting4Taste:talk 20:16, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
AfD Google Searches
editHey, I just wanted to let you know that you are posting as deletion criteria Google searches done via Google Ireland. If you are going to post a Google Search as a rationale for deletion, you should use the normal English Google (for English-language, American-subject articles, anyway). I just wanted to let you know it is probably something you should address and that I am not trying to attack you when I bring it up at AfD. Hope you have a good day! SMSpivey (talk) 05:04, 11 February 2009 (UTC)
- No offence taken friend, though as stated above I don't have access to non-Irish google; it just redirects me to google.ie when I try to access it.--Pattont/c 16:31, 11 February 2009 (UTC)
- Aha, someone on IRC has shown me how to get to regualr google without being redirected; there's a link at the bottom :P.--Pattont/c 16:42, 11 February 2009 (UTC)

Hi. Why are you removing the category from a bunch of articles directly related to the subject of tanks? —Michael Z. 2009-02-15 18:05 z
- Plan to create a whole load of subcats (Category:Tank tactics and the like) and migrate them down to there. They don't belong in the top level cat. Some articles, such as the two on tank designers, don't belong in this cat tree section at all.--Pattont/c 18:08, 15 February 2009 (UTC)
- Okay, but don't subdivide them so finely that categories have only one or two articles. It's better to see ten or twenty articles in one category, then to have to hunt around and only be able to see a fraction of them at once. Cheers. —Michael Z. 2009-02-15 18:13 z
- I'll be careful not too. In fact I plan to split a few cats (Main battle tanks of country X etc)--Pattont/c 18:14, 15 February 2009 (UTC)

Promotions and Transfers
editThe Page has been meant for deletion. But I think the page can become one stop solution for the undermentioned purposes:
1.0 The advantages of Promotions and Transfers, 2.0 The research on the topic and 3.0 One stop page for every body to know the links to the pages which affects their lives for atleast one year. Sanjivkumarsharma (talk) 16:29, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

editIt's back, but it's a film by a NN independent film maker. Very little content as well. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 19:30, 16 February 2009 (UTC)
Hi
editThanks for your advice. Syjytg (talk) 16:31, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
Thank You!
editI've been reckless...
editThat's how it goes. I tend to follow my instincts, but scan the talk page and sometimes the edit history first.
You know, I've found that if I don't do anything stupid, then I can often ignore the guidelines and get away with a lot of drastic unilateral page moves and edits. But if I screw something up a little bit, then all hell can break loose. How to recognize when you're screwing up, well I'm still working on that... Much easier to follow the guidelines.
Cheers. —Michael Z. 2009-02-18 00:12 z
- Lol, I'd better be more careful in future anyways.--Pattont/c 00:14, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
Cobra FAC
editHi, I tried to figure out solutions to your requests in the Operation Cobra FAC and thus made the following: considering that I took Operation Epsom article as an example, in state of creating a comparison of forces section, I created the Operation Cobra order of battle article, which I think would make readers a clear view of the forces involved in the battle. Hope this solution would comply with your request, and if not, i'm willing to further discuss and see what else should be done. Best regards, --Eurocopter (talk) 08:18, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
- I still think you should include a summary section like in Operation Winter Storm and Operation Uranus.--Pattont/c 12:44, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
Removing comments
editRemoving comments which are writen by banned users after they are banned is allowed.--Rjecina (talk) 15:50, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
- In heat of "discussion" I have removed too much. Now this is changed. I have again removed comments of banned user NovaNova from this talk page.--Rjecina (talk) 16:08, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
- If user is using deleted data of banned user and he is from city of banned user will this be enough for checkuser ?--Rjecina (talk) 16:49, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
- No. Just because someone is from the same city as a banned user doesn't mean they are.-Pattont/c 19:26, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
