Licence Raj edit

I've fixed it. I just moved the subpage to the new title and added to VFD. =Nichalp «Talk»= 17:34, September 9, 2005 (UTC)

Bhutan edit

Thanks for voting on Bhutan. Any chance of a ka: stub on it? =Nichalp «Talk»= 10:15, September 10, 2005 (UTC)

Cool, thanks !
The first gallery, the Delhi one, goes on to the Rohtang valley in HP, I don't know how to contact the person. As for the second, I think he wouldn't mind uploading as GFDL, I'll try and contact him. Are you Karnataka based? I'm looking to improve Karnataka and Bangalore up to FA status. =Nichalp «Talk»= 16:38, September 10, 2005 (UTC)

Pamri its difficult to contact you without that link in the signature, I've to click in the history, or type the same in the search. Could you please link your username? 16:42, September 10, 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for the shortcut. We can start with any section, how about starting with the history, can you get some sources? I can help you for all except the culture, you and Sundar will be the best two people to write about it. =Nichalp «Talk»= 17:16, September 10, 2005 (UTC)

Bangalore edit

Wikipedia:WikiProject Indian cities has the structure of the cities. We have four cities, 3 state capitals as FA. We'll try and get the text ready first, and get the photos later. Sundar can get the pix if needed. =Nichalp «Talk»= 17:40, September 10, 2005 (UTC)

You can get the B/W images under PD if they were published before 1-1-'45. =Nichalp «Talk»= 17:46, September 10, 2005 (UTC)
How is Banglore going? =Nichalp «Talk»= 06:56, 26 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Thanks a ton !!! edit

Thanks a ton

Hi Pamri, thanks a ton for awarding me my first barnstar. I hope to work towards ensuring that this would not be my last. Gurubrahma 17:27, 22 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Did you know? has been updated. A fact from the article Patience Cooper, which you recently created, has been featured in that section on the Main Page. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

Deshastha Brahmin edit

Thanks for your note of congratulation. I will strive to keep the trust. As regards Deshastha Brahmins, I will have to do some study, but I will surely try to find out some information. --Bhadani 15:08, 24 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

You are most welcome. I could locate a link [1], but it is almost silent about them. Anyway, we both should continue trying. --Bhadani 15:21, 24 September 2005 (UTC)Reply
In your company, I am also getting some knowledge – after all we all here to seek and share knowledge. --Bhadani 17:13, 24 September 2005 (UTC)Reply
I have a journal article from Journal of Asian studies in PDF format which has some references to desasthas. Thought you would be interested. Let me know how can I send it --Vyzasatya 14:33, 30 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Thank you so much! edit

I just noticed that I received the "Barnstar" from you. I can't believe it. :D Thank you very, very much. :) --Plumcouch 01:12, 25 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

New stub types edit

Just so you know, new stubs types should be proposed at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Proposals before being created. They're also listed on Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Stub types once created, so other people know about them. I've added {{India-actor-stub}} to that list. --Mairi 17:05, 25 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

DN edit

Well, if the photo was first published before 1945 in India, yes it is in PD. I'll try and get your photo as soon as possible. user;Proto is also after me for another. =Nichalp «Talk»= 18:19, 29 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

You're lucky day today. I had some bank work in that area and I got you this: image:Dadabai Navroji statue Bombay.jpg =Nichalp «Talk»= 10:07, 1 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Congrats edit

Hi Pamri. I have a question. A red link in page means an article which that and other page(s)/article(s)have requested. How do I list the pages/articles which have made the request? e.g. I have just started the Indian Native States. On the requested articles page it showed 36 requesting links. I would have liked to check if they all referred to the same subject and not to something such as, say, "native red-indian tribes". Thanks. VivekM 02:15, 3 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Thanks very much. The "what links here" toolbox link worked (the links were from India); but the link at the begining of your message listed 4 pages none of them articles. Meanwhile, found that List of Indian Princely States exists. Have re-directed Indian Native States there. Thanks again. VivekM 03:56, 3 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

WikiProject edit

Good idea, but after having my fingers burned on statism and natural monopoly I basically gave up on economics articles. One reason Wikipedia is stronger on science and tech, I think, is because (a) there's more objective, fairly easily confirmable and useful facts; (b) POV is less of an issue; (c) people are less likely to feel qualified to weigh in on the basis of a tangential understanding of the subject. So thanks for inviting me, but as for the moment I don't have the time for serious editing anyway, I'll pass for now (but check in from time to time). Best wishes for the project. Thanks for welcoming me. --Madhev0 17:34, 7 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Kayani edit

Hello, Pamrai, thanks for the note. I must confess my ignorance of how Wikipedia works (I m an archaeologist writing a book on the Kayani and the Gakhar and since you did not have entries for either, I thought I would post) are you an editor or moderator or an advisor? What is a barnstar? Is it good?

Hello, Pamrai, thanks for your comments and guidence! Pete

WikiProject Business and Economics edit

Sorry, but I have other things going on and am not on WP much these days. Thanks for the invitation and good luck. Maurreen (talk) 08:16, 9 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Hi Pamri, would be happy to help out - I've been mainly adding stuff to finance & European business entries; I'm not an economics expert unfortunately. Let me know how to go about this (first project etc..) - DocendoDiscimus 17:08, 10 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Sure, I can work on the Wikiproject....Is there a list of most needed articles? --Atlastawake 16:02, 11 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

I came here to thank you and, from what I see, you are a tireless contributor to our great project Wikipedia. I commend you, Pamri! Best, Satya Subramanian talk 12:33, 11 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

coercive monopoly edit

Hi. Since you participated in the AfD for coercive monopoly, you might be interested in the major rewrite I just did. I'm sure there will be considerable discussion ensuing (there's an RFC already), and a cool head such as yours would be useful. Rd232 11:58, 10 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Surprise!! edit

Click here!! Somehow, figured the te wikipedia and created the article. You may want to chk it out as my comp still doesn't display it properly. You may want to ask someother telugu fellow if it is ok. else, I'll give u the itrans version. Regards, --Gurubrahma 15:26, 13 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Nanavati edit

Hi Pamri, excellent work and it did sound like a thriller! I believe this would get to the fastest FA if we could get a photo of Nanavati btw, for the other case, it may be better to use inquiry rather than enquiry. I had plans to work on several cases that Ram Jethmalani worked on, but it has been on the backburner for one reason or the other. And my experience on te wikipedia is going great, thanks to you!! rgds., --Gurubrahma 16:01, 17 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

refreshing article edit

Your Nanavati article was quite refreshing. Keep the fizz flowing. Idleguy 09:09, 18 October 2005 (UTC)Reply
Did you know? has been updated. A fact from the article K. M. Nanavati vs. State of Maharashtra, which you recently created, has been featured in that section on the Main Page. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

inote edit

My apologies for disrupting the inote in K. M. Nanavati vs. State of Maharashtra - having not seen one before, I mistook it for an error. The article is excellent, by the way, and I shall nominate it to be the next featured case at Portal:Law.  BD2412 talk 03:20, 20 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

burden of proof edit

Yes, I suppose it was bad to delete my comment -- it was just that I began reading the details of the case myself and realized that I was wrong.

I do notice on searching that, at least in English law, many sources indicate that when a statute places the burden of proof on the accused to prove some fact, the standard of proof is typically not the criminal "beyond a reasonable doubt" but the weaker "on the balance of probabilities" applied in most civil cases. The High Court ruling does not appear to directly state which standard is meant for the accused, but the article may be incorrect on this point. Willhsmit 03:47, 20 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

case edit

Hmm, I've heard of the case once. We'd need to get pictures of the person, fair use will do. We have a Bombay High Court image and there is a Cowasjee Jehangir hall image available too. That emblem of India logo is inappropriate out there. Expand the lead, have it copyedited and it will be a FA. Yes, I'm mostly inactive theses days. =Nichalp «Talk»= 13:32, 20 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

I think the Supreme Court has a seal. have you tried searching for images in the .gov.in and .nic.in domains? =Nichalp «Talk»= 14:14, 20 October 2005 (UTC)Reply
Just the other day, on the front page of the ToI, I saw a statuette of a woman holding a pair of balanced scales in her hand. I think that is used to represent the SC. =Nichalp «Talk»= 09:43, 25 October 2005 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, it was something like that. =Nichalp «Talk»= 15:30, 26 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Nandita and other things edit

tnk u sooo much! I managed to update the 'tag' whatnots on the images. Now - how can I add P.C. Sorcar to list of notable indians and secondly how can I create a category 'Indian Magicians' to which I can ALSO add Sorcar! He is sacred with my Dad.. Autumnleaf 22:47, 24 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Pamri - you are so cool! Still not been able to figure things out. Meanwhile - I think I discovered another person to put into all those links - aladin ring any bells? Asian Age did a really good piece on him a few years back - he is more or less expat Indian as his mother is Assamese and his Dad ex-East Bengal; check his website. If you wouldn't mind - could BOTH these guys be put in the right lists and sections? THANKS (This is all copied from MY discussion page; what is the protocol?) Autumnleaf 17:29, 27 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

"Lady Justice" or the "Goddess of Justice" edit

The blindfolded lady holding the scales is simply referred to as "Lady Justice" or the "Goddess of Justice" (although it is based on the ancient Greek Themis). Cheers!  BD2412 talk 14:45, 26 October 2005 (UTC)Reply
