Dwayne Buckle

Hello and good day to you. I noticed that you did a minor edit on the Dwayne Buckle article. I wrote the first version of the article because I had stumbled across the story of an independent film maker who was stabbed by what was being called “a roving gang of lesbians”. I was rather shocked to find wikipedia lacked an article about Dwayne Buckle and so wrote a stub hoping others with more sources would expand upon it. I was wondering what led you to the article and if you knew of this person before your edit. If you did any links you could send me that may produce additional info would be greatly appreciated. Also the article is in the middle of an AFD and it looks like the result will be a no consensus so if you would care to vote on the issue that would be appreciated as well. --The Emperor of Wikipedia 02:05, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

September WPOR Collaboration of the Week

First off, great job to all WikiProject Oregon folks for last week’s List of Oregon State Parks work. We pounded out six new state park articles: Sarah Helmick, Bald Peak, Bob Straub, Sumpter Valley Gold Dredge, Tumalo, and Peter Skene Ogden. Plus numerous other edits to improve the existing articles. As a reward, we are introducing the COTW award {{WPOR COTW award}}, and this time it goes to User:Woodstein52 for starting three of the articles.

Fall WPOR COTW

Welcome to autmun and the weekly COTW news. Great job to those who helped out with last week’s articles: Darlene Hooley & Thunderegg. Both made great improvements. This week, something a little different. With fall upon us, the photo ops are going to be harder to get, so we have a photo request fulfillment drive. Take a look at the requested pictures for Oregon category or the graphics subproject for what’s needed. Then go take a picture, or search online for a free picture to upload (US gov sites are great and there are links available from the above links). Week 1 October WP:ORE COTW

I know everyone has been waiting anxiously for this week’s COTW, so here they are: Barlow Road and Columbia River Plateau. Both are almost Start class, just some formatting and referencing, plus a little expansion and they will be there!

As to last week, it is difficult to track the items we were working on, but I know some pictures were added and at least three red links were removed from Oregon, so thank you to all those who participated. WPOR CoTW: Don Schollander & Conde McCullough

Greetings WPOR world. Last week was great with the Barlow Road seeing lots of improvement, maybe even B class. Columbia River Plateau also saw some improvement, maybe enough to bump it to Start. On with the countdown, another two Stubs in the High category, both happen to be people: Don Schollander a multi-gold medalist; and then world-renowned bridge architect and all-around swell guy Conde McCullough. Schollander needs sources more than anything, and McCullough needs more of a bio, plus maybe a nice chart for the bridges with type/year/location/length. Holiday COTW

New Year COTW from WP:ORE

Happy New Year to all the Oregon WikiProject People. A big round of applause for everyone last year, we got a lot done. A thank you to everyone who helped with the last Collaboration of the Week, I saw a large number of articles in the unassessed section and our total number of articles is over 5000 (we were around 4000 in June when the assessment program finished the initial run) so I know at one person was busy tagging. This week we are back to a High importance Stub article the one and only max security prison, first prison, and only one with a death row in the state, the Oregon State Penitentiary. Oregon GA COTW

Howdy to WikiProject Oregon members, time for another edition of the Collaboration of the Week. As you may have already noticed, our flagship article Oregon is up for the third time as we make a push to get WP:GA status before going for WP:FA. Since this will take some time to get where it needs to be, this will be the COTW for more than just a week. On another note, just a general good job/pat on the back to the project for a great 2007, the first full year of the project. We had 83 DYKs about Oregon, improved one article to FA, and went from around 4 GAs to 17 GAs. Clown COTW

Greetings once again to members of the best encyclopedia online about Oregon (aka WP:ORE)! Last week we improved Neil Goldschmidt to close to GA level, and moved the Wells Fargo Center from Stub to Start for the Collaboration of the Week. This week we’re clowning around with some bozo from Oregon, Pinto Colvig, and then in an attempt to garner another DYK, the rather stubby Cooper Spur. Wiki Loves Pride

You are invited! Wiki Loves Pride

You are invited to participate in Wiki Loves Pride, a global campaign to create and improve LGBT-related content at Wikipedia during the month of June, culminating with a multinational edit-a-thon on June 21. The project is being spearheaded by two organizers with roots in the Pacific Northwest. Meetups are being organized in some cities, or you can participate remotely. Wikimedia Commons will also be hosting an LGBT-related photo challenge. In Portland, there are two ways to contribute. One is a photography campaign called "Pride PDX", for pictures related to LGBT culture and history. Hi, I've reverted your recent edit at Wallykazam! because it looks to me that the summaries you added were copied or closely paraphrased from other sources. "When a magic word makes Gina Giant's new doll run away" can be found here. And your summary for Hopgoblin is almost verbatim with this (give or take a few words). Plot summaries must be written from scratch, preferably by someone who has seen the episode and can describe in their own words what happens in the story. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously and you run the risk of having your account indefinitely blocked if you submit copied or closely paraphrased content again. I see what you mean about my summaries being so similar and I apologize. I did not intentionally copy them; I did actually write them myself, having watched all the episodes multiple times with my kids. I've seen Amazon's summaries when I'm queuing up an episode on instant video for the kids, though, so I'm not surprised my summaries ended up so similar. Mostly I was trying to keep them very concise ... I'm sure I could write more original-sounding summaries if they were longer but I was wary of it being called "trivia" if I added much more. Do you have any advice in that regard?

Hi, thanks for the note, and I hope my comment above didn't come off too harsh. :) Contrary to what many people believe, we're not limited to single-sentence loglines. WP:TVPLOT encourages a length of 100-200 words. This doesn't mean we have to be overly wordy, but it may offer some flexibility in delivering the general arc of the story without running afoul of copyright issues. Also, we're not required to suppress spoilers, so providing a beginning, middle and end to the episodes is perfectly suitable. Hope that helps, and if not, lemme know.
