Hey

Linking and overlinking

edit

Hello! I see you've been creating wikilinks in articles, which is often a good thing, as Wikipedia relies on articles being linked to each other. But when done too much it can be more distracting then helpful. Please see WP:OVERLINKING and let me know if you have any questions. Largoplazo (talk) 21:11, 3 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm Sumanuil. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Aṣa have been undone because they did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse or the Help desk. Thanks. - Sumanuil.   Please do not use styles that are nonstandard, unusual, inappropriate or difficult to understand in articles, as you did in Julian Assange. There is a Manual of Style, and edits should not deliberately go against it without special reason. As noted above, please see MOS:OVERLINK and MOS:LINKONCE. A biography does not need the country of Sweden to be hyperlinked three times in succession, or even once. Belbury (talk) 19:12, 4 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Belbury, would you please remove your warning? The warning is redundant and the increased warning level is unfair, as the user's edits were in good faith and in unawareness of the guideline, and as the user has made no edits since I cautioned them about overlinking, above 22 hours earlier. Largoplazo (talk) 21:06, 4 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
Sure, and with apologies. There have been a few users making the same kinds of edits on related articles, perhaps as a class project, I must have mixed two of them up and thought this was from today. --Belbury (talk) 22:07, 4 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
