Hello and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first pages you edited was Draft:Center for Earth System Research and Sustainability, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that page.

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, club, organization, company, or website, I have blocked this account from editing. You are welcome to continue editing after you have chosen a new username that complies with Wikipedia's username policy.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable, regardless of the username that you choose. Additionally, if your contributions to Wikipedia form all or part of work for which you are, or expect to be, paid or compensated in any way, you must disclose who is paying you to edit here.

Please take a moment to either create a new account, or request a username change of your current account here. The new username that you choose must represent you as an individual person, and it must comply with Wikipedia's username policy.
  • To create a new account with a different username, simply log out of this account and then click here to make a new one.
  • If you prefer to change the username on this account, you may do so by adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page here: {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken or in use by another account. You can go here to search and see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is available to be taken.

Please also note that you are permitted to use a username that contains the name of a company or organization if it also identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87", but not "SEO Manager at XYZ Company".

Appeals: If your username does not represent a group, organization, website, or other entity described above, and if you believe that this block was incorrect or made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page here: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}

Thank you. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 13:43, 6 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

While German Wikipedia allows verified accounts that represent organizations, English Wikipedia does not. English Wikipedia's username policy states that an account is meant for an individual user, not to be shared with others, and cannot be named after a company, organization or group of people. An acceptable variation would be to combine an individual name with the organization's name (for example, "Karl at CEN Universität Hamburg"), as this would denote a specific individual. If you want to request an unblock, you will have to include a new proposed name using the {{unblock-un}} template. Please note that any change of username will apply across all language versions of Wikipedia.

Please also note that it is a conflict of interest to write about your own organization. Also, if you are employed by this organization or a paid third-party representative, then you are required to disclose this information per the mandatory policy on disclosure of paid editing. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 14:17, 6 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

The username now follows the rules of Wikipedia.

Accept reason:

Yeap, so I have lifted the block. Remember, you've been violating WP:COI (at least). Your very next edit must be to properly declare your conflict of interest. Then, we'll expect you refrain from any further inappropriate edits, including but not limited to WP:COI and WP:PROMO. Yamla (talk) 14:37, 26 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

I'm very sorry you ignored what I told you, above. As a result, I have had to block you indefinitely. --Yamla (talk) 11:43, 5 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I suspect this is a misunderstanding. I just added sources to a page that was still indicated as draft. I didn't know that I have to give this hint already. Can you tell me in which form I have to indicate this conflict of interest? When I save an edit? Many greetings! Niklas von CEN Universität Hamburg (talk) 13:55, 10 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
You did know because I told you while unblocking you. WP:COI gives the details. --Yamla (talk) 14:09, 10 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing because your account is being used only for advertising or promotion.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text at the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.
I am willing to unblock you if you agree to refrain from directly editing any article where you have a conflict of interest. You are still free to suggest edits on the article talk pages. Is that acceptable to you? You aren't obligated to accept, you can instead contest your block (see WP:GAB) and another admin will review your request. --Yamla (talk) 14:21, 10 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

I was blocked because I did not declare my conflict of interest when editing a page. An admin brought this offense to my attention. According to the guidelines, I should have declared it. I didn't realize at the time that I also had to state the notice when editing a draft. I have now set up the conflict of interest notice on my discussion page, and I promise to indicate a conflict of interest on future edits as well.

Decline reason:

No response to query below in six days. — Daniel Case (talk) 06:14, 17 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Disclosures of conflict of interest not placed on this page (your user talk page), but on your userpage (User:Niklas von CEN Universität Hamburg). As a courtesy, I have moved them there.

However, this raises another question. Are you an employee or a third-party representative who is being paid to edit on behalf of these organizations? If so, then you are considered to be a paid editor, which requires a higher standard of disclosure in accordance with English Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure policy. Please answer this question before making any further edits here. Thank you. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 20:58, 11 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi User:Drm310, sorry for the late reply. I am an employee and thus get paid to edit on behalf of this organization. Unfortunately I could not customize the userpage independently because I am blocked. --Niklas von CEN Universität Hamburg (talk) 13:13, 24 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
