Michael Kennedy listing edit

I hope this is the proper way to send you a message. First of all, I am very grateful that you took the time to make many positive changes/additions to the Wikipedia listing regarding me, Michael Kennedy, the film and TV director guy. I admire and regularly use Wikipedia and I am in the "late stages" of my career and therefore I have an interest in the Wikipedia article on me being accurate and more complete. I unsuccessfully tried to make some corrections/additions a few months ago. I understand that was inappropriate. Since then I have been gathering citations to help someone else make improvements properly and I was seeking someone to update my listing for me. To my delight, you have done a lot already!! (much appreciated). Now, I have some further corrections/additions that I would like to see happen...not to worry, not too much and I can be very specific and clear; would you consider doing these for me? I have collected many citations for both material already mentioned and any new material so that will not be an issue. I appreciate you considering this assistance. cheers, MK. Little Bro Face (talk) 22:42, 17 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello @Little Bro Face:, and thank you for the feedback, always appreciated. Sure, if you have things to add and correct, as long as they are backed by something that's been published, anyone can add them, including me. For example, I am absolutely certain that your place of birth was correct in previous versions but I had to amend it as no third-party source backed the claim (annoying, I know, but on the other hand, keeping on the safe side). Can I suggest you list things you think should be changed on the article talk page for the sake of transparency? and then anyone, (including you and I) can add them. If it's removal of material, feel free! If dates and spelling are wrong, again, feel free to correct them. If no published source exists, however, it's generally not recommended (huge euphemism) to add things even if they are true....For example, the filming having taking place abroad are not sourced. And while I am sure they're factual, I see they are on your personal website, but no third-party source is presented, so I would not be surprised (nor shocked) if they are removed in the future. Which I think is fair, if frustrating. So, yes, indicate what you think should be changed on the Talk page of the article and I will have a look (add a ping with my username to notify me when you wish me to know you add something). Best wishes, hats off for your numerous achievements, and thanks again.-My, oh my! (Mushy Yank) 23:23, 17 January 2024 (UTC) (P.S.- If you wish and know how to upload a photograph of you (on set, or portrait), that you are sure you are authorised to use, it's one of the rare "autobiographical" actions (sorry for the jargon) that's uncontroversially accepted.) (P.P.S. I've just had a look at your personal talk page, and saw that you did try to upload a photo in the past, and that something went wrong. Maybe see with the user who sent you that message about the file you had sent, if you want to try again?)Reply

Hi Mushy Yank, can you please make a clipping The Toronto Star article and link that URL in the citation so it is accessible? Or at least provide the title of the article and so I can find it and make a clipping? Thanks for your work with finding sources, by the way. S0091 (talk) 20:23, 23 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

I found it so updated the url. I also found a source about the film being renamed and one stating it is was never released in theaters which explains why we were not able to find reviews during the 1989-1990-ish time frame. :) S0091 (talk) 14:56, 24 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Your opinion edit

Hello, Mushy Yank,

I came across Hemet, or the Landlady Don't Drink Tea because I review the Move log and it was just moved from Draft space to main space. It looks like a mediocre, low budget film that doesn't deserve a place in main space. But I see you review a lot of movies in AFD discussions so I was interested in your opinion of whether the article is acceptable or should be tagged for a deletion discussion. Let me know what you think. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 03:10, 26 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

It is very distracting to have the text on this page posted at an angle. Could you change it so that it looks like a regular user talk page? It's fine to do these tricks for your User page but talk pages are for communication and I think it is a distraction. I thought that I had done something wrong until I noticed other messages were also crooked. Liz Read! Talk! 03:13, 26 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Question edit

Syed Sohel Ryan has been created many times and deleted. He has starred in Lucky Lakshman (2022), Organic Mama Hybrid Alludu (2023), Mr. Pregnant (2023) and Bootcut Balaraju (2024). Similar to Faria Abdullah, he meets WP:NACTOR. What's the protocol? DareshMohan (talk) 07:42, 3 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello @DareshMohan:,
Yes, the logs show it was created by a banned user. But SSR is obviously notable. And if you have sources, I can't see the problem. If you want to see what was on the deleted page, you can ask an administrator to send you the deleted text to a page in your userspace (those willing to do so are listed here) and then, either take the draft to creation review or publish it yourself if you're confident he's notable (he does meet fairly WP:NACTOR), especially if the page differs from the deleted text. I confess I don't understand why there is this rule of deleting the content created by banned users (unless the said content is harmful). But the rule exists and it is implemented almost all the time. I also think that you can recreate the page from scratch but then, leaving a note on the TP and/or on the page of the user(s) who deleted it (or ping them in the note you are leaving on the recreated page saying you understand it was deleted but recreate the page about the actor because he's notable) might be a good idea. Hope that helps. Best.-My, oh my! (Mushy Yank) 10:21, 3 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Dr. Frankenstein (film) edit

Hello, Mushy Yank,

Do not redirect a main space page to Draft space. These pages are ordinarily deleted as CSD R2s. Also, do not write a "note" telling readers they shouldn't edit an article. If you don't want anyone editing an article, for some unknown reason, as for protection or move it to Draft space or User space if that is in line with the article creator's wishes. But don't post talk messages in the body of a main space article for any reason. And, again, I really dislike your tilted User talk page. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 17:34, 4 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Notable edit

Is Sharanya Pradeep notable? See [1] [2] [3]. She was nominated for Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress – Telugu 2 times although no source found to confirm. DareshMohan (talk) 23:43, 18 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

  • She played minor roles in many films but turned supporting characters recently in Ambajipeta Marriage Band and Bhamakalapam 2. Sharanya Pradeep, who plays Anupama’s loyal partner-in-crime Shilpa, makes for a delightful presence in particular, also bringing in many laughs with her remarks on the sheer absurdity of Anupama’s predispositions and plight [4]
  • giving her able company is Sharanya Pradeep, whose poker-faced one liners provide a lot of laughter [5]
  • Sharanya Pradeep also delivers a satisfactory performance and adds to the humour [6]
Hello@DareshMohan:, her role in Ambajipeta Marriage Band is clearly significant, as the South First article confirms, and her role in ‘Bhamakalapam 2’ also (see [7]). So I'd say she meets WP:NACTOR, yes.-My, oh my! (Mushy Yank) 23:54, 18 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Draft:Senbaga Thottam edit

I feel the draft is very much mainspace worthy, but Deb played spoilsport. I fear if I move the draft back to mainspace she will either delete it unilaterally or open an AfD that will end in her favour. The articles at AfC but noawadays AfC reviewers don't accept drafts until they are exceptionally large. What is your view on it? Is it mainspace worthy in its current shape? Kailash29792 (talk) 07:31, 5 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello Kailash29792, I am not sure why exactly it was moved to draft but it has been vastly improved indeed. If another review can be added, I think it's safe to move it back to Main.-My, oh my! (Mushy Yank) 07:47, 5 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
It was moved because Deb thought it had an "advertising" tone, something I valiantly sought to erase from the article. And no, sadly I can't find another review. That should not be an obstacle to bringing the article back to mainspace. Kailash29792 (talk) 09:21, 5 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
I can't find any trace of promotional tone (for a 1992 film....) but the edit summary "incorrectly moved by inexperienced contributor" is troubling. If you are an inexperienced user, then who are the experienced users on Wikipedia? The 128 ones who have more edits than you (and that does not include the author of the edit, fwiw), maybe? And "incorrectly", why? Anyway, maybe the film meets GNG as written. Do you think it has some specific role in the career of Selva, Rohini, Manobala or Balakumaran, for example? Best, (PS- Do you think you can improve that plot summary?-My, oh my! (Mushy Yank) 23:01, 6 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
I also took extreme offence to Deb calling me an "inexperienced contributor", but didn't cry out loud for that. Instead I sought to improve the article further and avoid further issues. Now that the article is better, is it worth moving straight to the mainspace? BTW, thanks for adding those extra sources. Kailash29792 (talk) 04:34, 7 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes, maybe you can try to move it as it may meet GNG; unless you are ready to wait 8 weeks for an uncertain outcome.....-My, oh my! (Mushy Yank) 08:52, 7 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
DareshMohan has already done it, and I hope Deb won't bother us regarding this again. Kailash29792 (talk) 08:57, 7 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the update.-My, oh my! (Mushy Yank) 09:48, 7 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Not using the more specific templates is intentional edit

You've complained about multiple occasions about my not applying subject-specific notability tags on articles where such guidelines may apply. This is intentional, as in these cases I have specifically been raising concerns regarding the article meeting GNG, the guideline which is explained on the default template. The specific SNG templates are appropriate only where the concerns are specifically relating to an SNG. signed, Rosguill talk 01:02, 7 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello to you too. Maybe your concern is with GNG requirements, but adding the SGN guideline specification puts the pages on the radar of contributors who watch the specific category(ies) (and I don't mean myself only, as you can see with the latest example) and are willing to improve/edit the said pages (thus avoiding Afds in general). Up to you, then-My, oh my! (Mushy Yank) 08:52, 7 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
With that in mind, the issue could perhaps be resolved with a change to the template's coding so that the topical sorting is a separate parameter from the control over the guideline advice that gets displayed.signed, Rosguill talk 14:16, 7 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Excellent idea. That would be a perfect solution in my view. Thank you.-My, oh my! (Mushy Yank) 14:37, 7 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Kailash29792: It gets annoying every time a Tamil film gets multiple reviews and has no article. We can't be creating articles forever right? J.Baby [16] [17] and Guardian [18] [19]. My solution: get articles with a review from The Times of India and Cinema Express to get autocreated as a stub with the info Guardian is a Tamil film.

All reviews of J.Baby: [20] [21] [22] [23]. DareshMohan (talk) 01:27, 10 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

AI isn't that advanced... yet. Maybe it's just because many good/prolific editors like Secret of success, Johannes003 and Veera Dheera Sooran are no longer active, and there haven't been many replacements for them. But J.Baby can be created straight in the mainspace with reviews. Kailash29792 (talk) 02:49, 10 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hello both, indeed AI is not that advanced. I'll see when I have more time, Best,-My, oh my! (Mushy Yank) 09:27, 10 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Guardian (2024 film)---microstub published; same for J Baby. Feel free to expand when you have time as I only focused on the Reception sections so as to make sure we don't get the usual tags and/or draftifcations etc.

Source check edit

Is Kapil Kapilan notable? He only has 2 sources on the Internet [24] [25] -- both of which are interviews. He has sung 60-ish songs [26]. He won a Kerala State Film Award for Best Singer for a low-key film. DareshMohan (talk) 20:14, 10 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello, DareshMohan, the sources are based on interviews but what the journalist writes is imv enough to create a short stub. Indeed if we consider the award significant (and I think the fact that all recipients are notable is an indication (although not a proof) it may be), KK might meet ANYBIO: "The person has received a well-known and significant award or honor"; also if his songs are considered an important part of the films they are used in, that might have him also meet WP:NCREATIVE "The person has created or played a major role in co-creating a significant or well-known work or collective body of work. In addition, such work must have been the primary subject of multiple independent periodical articles or reviews" (if you consider the song to be an important part of the films, which they sometimes clearly are). In other words, I personally think he is notable but that could be challenged (but given the number of songs and the awards, it would be sad). Hope this helps. Best, -My, oh my! (Mushy Yank) 22:10, 10 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
my main question is this, should i just list like a few of his hit songs? Using [27] is 100% original research.
You could use this or these articles and/or any database to prove the songs are his/his participations to the films (only for verification), or you can wait until he receives more coverage. -My, oh my! (Mushy Yank) 22:38, 10 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello DareshMohan, and thanks for the feedback. I've had a rapid look. Moon Nila has 1 lead role in a notable film and various other significant roles in productions without a page here; but the fact that she has received coverage for her 9 roles in the same series and some awards might contribute to her notability. It's not absolutely clear that she meets WP:NACTOR but maybe GNG, though. It might be challenged and a blue-linked film/series would help. Still a bit busy, so maybe I missed things. Best!-My, oh my!
