What do ya know? edit

I'm listening to you right now Murderbike. Ungovernable ForceGot something to say? 05:57, 26 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

The song. Do you play in a band? And now I'm listening to "Of Chivilary and Romance in a Dumpster"...wait, now it's "Drugtown." Damn, the only complaint I have about This Bike Is A Pipe Bomb is their cd's are too short. Ungovernable ForceGot something to say? 06:08, 26 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
Now it's "Sixteen Tons." I just got this cd yesterday and I already had Front Seat Solidarity. Anyways, I swear the opening riff to this song sounds a lot like "Terminal Preppie" Ungovernable ForceGot something to say? 06:12, 26 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
Can't say that I do know the original. Is it by TBIAPB? My favorite song on this cd is "The Black Panther Song." Anyway, I noticed your edit to folk punk and obviously the name stuck out since I was listening to the song at the time. I'm about to put in oi polloi I think though. BTW, I properly capitalized your band's name for you since you asked about it on the talk page. Are you guys and/or gals going to be in CA anytime soon? Hee hee... edit

I love the new userbox. I have a button on my jacket that says "Against abortion? Have a vasectomy." Haven't followed it myself since I think I'm too young to make such a permanent decision on that front, but yeah. I also like the saying "If you can't trust me with a choice, how can you trust me with a child?" Anyway, I'll leave you alone for now. Ungovernable ForceGot something to say? 05:43, 27 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, I really love kids and on one level I want to have one of my own, but I really don't want to contribute to the population and I don't want to bring a new life into this depressing world so the whole adoption idea looks really good to me. I'm still several years away from that sort of thing though. As of now my only child is my dog. Ungovernable ForceGot something to say? 05:50, 27 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Your New Article edit

Not bad. Never heard of them so it was a learning experince. Just make sure you have citations for everything (although chances are it will never be much of a problem). Was Makhno a part of the group? Russian and Ukranian anarchist history is something I need to brush up on more. I recently got a book on Cuban anarchism though, but I have to finish The Culture of Make Believe by Derrick Jensen first. Luckily I'm on break till the 16th or so (I love college). Ungovernable ForceGot something to say? 06:23, 28 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

I knew Makhno is usually considered the main person associated with platformism which is why I asked since the text of the article didn't mention him and he was only in the see also section. As for the book, it looks like it's a broad overview. The chapters are based on time periods, the first being 1865-1898 and the last (minus the conclusion) is 1962-2001 (the post-"revolution" period I believe). I've always wanted to travel Latin America and I thought this book would be informative if I were to ever travel to Cuba. Ungovernable ForceGot something to say? 06:41, 28 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

re: vandals edit

Hey there, to answer your question, yes you do have to be an admin to block IP's even if they are persistently vandalizing a page. BUT, you can alert an admin when you see that a vandal has been persistently vandalizing pages by posting his IP address (in this case: 66.217.49.175) on WP:AIV and an admin will take care of the problem for you. I hope this answered your question in a way that was easy to follow; if not, contact me on my talk page and I would be more than glad to help you). Cheers! Wikipediarules2221 02:51, 2 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

I gave him a warning for now, but let me know if he keeps vandalizing the page. Wikipediarules2221 02:55, 2 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
When reverting edits, the "Undo" feature is fine if they only made one edit. Your recent revert of Equals sign undid the last vandal edit, but not the one before. I reverted back to the last good edit. wrp103 (Bill Pringle) 22:39, 25 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

DAB pages edit

Hi Murderbike, and thanks for your message. I think you'll find creating a disambiguation page is no different to a normal page. Typically it'll contain the phrase "(disambiguation)" following it, e.g. Apple (disambiguation). That's a good example - you'd then usually write "Apple can be:"... and add all your links to the various types of things an apple can be. Finally, you'd usually finish the page of with a {{dab}} or {{disambig}} template, which will automatically categorise the page as a disambiguation page. Hope this helps, if not, or indeed, if so, let me know how you get on! Cheers! Budgiekiller 20:28, 3 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Not a problem, looks like you got it spot on! Don't hesitate to get in touch again if you need anything else. Cheers! Budgiekiller 21:04, 3 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Re: Images edit

Gee, wish I could help you there. I don't know and don't care to know much about the whole image thing. Sarge Baldy might be a good person to ask, he's an anarchist and an admin here, so he'll probably know more about all that legal stuff. I had a hard enough time trying to prove the Food Not Bombs logo was public domain. I actually ended up talking to one of the founders of Food Not Bombs on the phone to get that whole thing clarified. I think if you have an image of his work though it could be considedered fair use. Also, that external link isn't working, at least not for me. Ungovernable ForceGot something to say? 06:21, 4 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Who did you piss off? edit

Seriously. Your page is getting vandalized more than mine ever was when I was as new as you. If you want I have a section on my userpage that shows some of the vandalism I've gotten. It's all so stupid. Ungovernable ForceGot something to say? 06:38, 7 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, doing recent page patrolling tends to get your page vandalized a bit. There was vandalism on my page where the person kept replacing my page with the classic Che image with a slash through it and it said "this is what happens to traitors" or something, but the image was deleted so you can't really see it anymore. It was pretty funny. Ungovernable ForceGot something to say? 06:05, 8 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

political art / etc edit

Hi Murderbike - I'm coming to your page via the CFD on Category:Subversive artists. Subversive is a bit hard to define, but I agree that political art is an important category and have been working on various subcats to include political art in appropriate subcats -- political fiction, and so on. What do you think of the general hierarchy tree Category:Political art and Category:Political artists under which the various subcats of political (environmental, feminist, anarchist, Marxist, etc.) and art (literature, fiction, poetry, music, art, etc.) would be housed? --lquilter 21:25, 8 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Alemdjrodo Kangni and other foreign-language articles edit

There's a tag - {{db-notenglish}} - for articles that aren't in English and already exist on another Wikipedia project (probably the fr wikipedia in this case). [1] comes up with a "page not found", so it's probably not there. So a good procedure is this:

  1. Place {{notenglish}} on the article.
  2. Follow the instructions in the notenglish tag to put the article here.

WP:PNT is watched by numerous editors with language skills and it'll either be translated or, if appropriate, tagged for speedy. Articles remaining untranslated for seven days will be deleted. C.h.u.n.k. 666 edit

hello, it seems a shame to me that the chunk article got deleted, altho it may well have deserved to have been deleted by not proving its notability under wikistandards. i dont know, because i didnt see it. anyhoo, i would like to create the article again, seeing as i can provide refs to prove the group's notability. i have contacted the admin who deleted it here and i will be interested to take it up after a week's wikibreak. i will leave the same message for Quackking. cheers, Mujinga 04:09, 13 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

ok! do you still have a copy of the page somewhere? i also asked the admin who deleted it if i could see it. and was the article a stub? because if it was, under undeletion guidelines it can be simply begun again, whereas if if was a full article, going by the book, its better to apply to get it undeleted first, then clean it up.
how do you know chunk btw? i was traded some zines with sara from portland following a carbusters conference in prague a few years back. they're a funny read.
what ref.s did you use? here are the ref.s i found just now, which i think easily prove chunk's notability:

Mujinga 04:22, 13 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

funny you should mention anarchopedia, i was just browsing it meself - and its not really an "alternative view of wikipedia" like the other links, so i'm glad you found it.
i checked your contributions but i guess a deleted page is taken out of the records. it can still be accessed by admins though. how large was the article when it was deleted - was it kinda stub sized?
i'm off now, have a nice weekend! Mujinga 04:39, 13 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Eh, no I'm reading "The Culture of Make Believe." I'm about 3/4 done with it and it's so wonderful. One of the best books I've read, but definitely contributing to my occasional misanthropy as well. Which is funny because I just started listening to Dystopia right as I got your message. I do want to get some more by Derrick ASAP. I'm also thinking I might try to find him since he lives in some forest on the Northern Cali coast, and I'm going to tranfer to Humboldt State University this fall most likely. I'm thinking he might be near there. Hey there. edit

I was just on Force's talkpage, and I clicked through to here to see your barnstar - which you totally deserve - and I noticed the Civil War userbox I designed. It's nice to see people borrowing my stuff. You read comics? No one I know does, but I'm a secret fan, and Green Arrow is undeniably awesome - he was turned into an anarchist in the 70s, and I have a couple of issues from his run with Green Lantern (basically a cop) where he talks about the evils of capitalism, racism, etc. It was a great run.
Anyway, you need help with anything, feel free to ask me for help as well. Good work. ~Switch t 16:10, 19 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

The run started with Green Lantern vol. 2 #76 and ran through to #89, but it's normally called Green Lantern/Green Arrow. From what I've read and heard, most of the issues dealt with racism and other bigotry, but covered other topics as well, with varying degrees of radicality. Cheers. ~Switch t 08:03, 21 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
I know, he's been through a lot of changes in politics since he was redesigned, especially during the decline in public interest in political affairs since the 70s. Going from an anarchist to a mayor is a fair jump, but there have been examples before (I think there was a French president who was an anarchist in his youth?). There was an issue recently which compared Green Arrow to Anarky in terms of politics even. ~ Switch () 12:01, 27 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Re: it's/its edit

There's a lot I don't know about grammar, too. :) I'm not sure why it's the convention, but a good rule of thumb is to use "its" whenever you don't mean "it is" or "it has", probably for the same reason you don't see words like "our's", "her's" and "their's". There's also a (pretty short) article on it at Its. Ylem 18:25, 21 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

WOW you need a barnstar for your sensitivity on that issue! heheh, I and I used to think... dont let me go down that road - I used to live in the area where it is based and fortunately (or unfortunately if you looked at my archive - ...) I had an isbn issue with about 50 articles on the west coast of tas - and have only just resolved the issue of sorts- must have the best referenced stubs for the whole of tasmania as a result of a mis-typed isbn in one of the books I have been using. The article we are talking about is originallly a self written history by davey himself (I once acted in a king lear that he produced and direct in Perth in the... 1970's....) so the task has been to get it encycolpediac in tone and get rid of the tone that he put it in. I left tasmania in the late 1970's and I suspect that the the theatre companies and plays mentioned might not have articles - most editors in tassie (so few anyway) are not my vintage - so they probably dont know they even existed. Hey if you have the add point (I must say I get it too...) I'll get out of your way till some time later, cheers from very hot Perth, western australia - and hthanks for the heads up! History of Vojvodina edit

Please learn something about history of the region before your blind reverts. That paragraph was added by Hungarian nationalist and have nothing to do with reality. See now your own edit: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=History_of_Vojvodina&diff=103991886&oldid=103991790 Please tell me what tensions exist between native Serbian population and hundreds of thousands of resettled ethnic Serbian refugees? If you cannot say this, then refrain from those unilateral actions in the future, ok? PANONIAN (talk) 02:56, 29 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Well, my comment was for that user (I know him very well), and believe me, he and his "friends" do not edit Vojvodina related articles with good faith. PANONIAN (talk) 03:00, 29 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Just FYI, ( I feel compelled to defend my character here...) I'm a "she" not a "he", I'm not a Hungarian "nationalist", and my edit WAS in fact made in good faith. I consider the current situation in Vojvodina important enough to warrant at least a few sentences, I wasn't trying to push any sort of stupid Greater Hungarian POV nonsense. I apologize for any factual errors I may have made, they were unintentional.K. Lásztocska 04:18, 29 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Perhaps I confused you with some other user and I apologize if I done this, but anyway, that does not change the nature of source that you used for your edit. PANONIAN (talk) 17:06, 29 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ok, I will explain one by one:

  • "Recently Vojvodina has suffered increasing ethnic strife, which has intensified since the national elections of 2003. The disparity between the native population and hundreds of thousands of resettled ethnic Serbian refugees from the most recent Balkan wars"

Let see, what is wrong here? First, was it ethnic strife in Vojvodina? There were allegations of some leaders of Hungarian minority (note that 26 different nations live in Vojvodina and that only leaders of Hungarian minority claim this) that Serbs attacking Hungarians in Vojvodina. There were certain individual clashes between certain people (but mostly connected with mafia like in any other country) and there is no proof that such clashes were ethnically motivated. Furthermore, the delegation of European Union also came to investigate this and their conclusion was that there were only some isolated cases of ethnic clashes and Vojvodina in general is peaceful place. One more thing: the sentence that I quoted claim that there is "disparity between the native population and Serbian refugees". You should note that most of the native population are also Serbs and this sentence imply that they are not.

  • "Harassment and attacks on Jews, Roma and ethnic Hungarians are frequently reported"

Roma and Jews themselves do not claim that somebody attacking them. It is again some leaders of Hungarian minority who claim this. But why? They have one political goal and it is this: Hungarian Regional Autonomy. And how can they achieve this? They believe that they can achieve this if they convince world that they are endangered in Serbia. But if they did not managed to convince European investigators, I do not see why Wikipedia should have this mission - this is an encyclopaedia, not political forum or something like that.

This web site is example of Greater Hungarian nationalism and is not reliable source at all. I will give you one example, among others, the site have this title: "Hand Grenade Explodes Outside Home of Ethnic Hungarian Leader in Vojvodina, Serbia". I read about that grenade and it did not exploded even near house of this leader - it exploded in his street several blocks away and his neighbour was the target (which was confirmed by the police), but no matter of that, this leader claimed that he was the target - a nice example of forged story. If yoo want to know more, just ask. PANONIAN (talk) 03:31, 29 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Regarding other conflicts in former Yugoslavia, I do not think that there is one article about this - there are many such articles, so if you want to read them you can start here: Yugoslav wars. However, I do not like much those articles because most of them are POV and are a subject of heavy revert wars. I much more like to work on "normal" geographical and historical articles related to former Yugoslavia and I am trying as much as possible to keep this POV out of those articles - there is really problem with people who want to push their POV into those articles and I might in the future ask for some change of Wikipedia policy with this, i.e. as an example, if somebody have negative attitude towards Kazakhstan, he should be prevented from such negative writting about Kazakhstan - this is not place for people to heal their personal frustrations. Hah! Exactly! I always find shitty articles give me an excuse to read up on the subject, though unfortunately, I don't think there's too much info available in the US on Swedish anarchism. Alas, glad there's Anarcho-Swedes around! Hey, if you have time, could you weigh in here: Template_talk:AnarchismOpenTask#new_section and here: Template_talk:Anarchism#Removal_of_USA_from_regions? Thanks! Murderbike 00:22, 21 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
Well, use that time to exercise some propaganda of the deed? One thing we're doing here in Visby is arranging an "Alternative Politician's Week" as a response to the yearly parlamentarian propaganda event "Politican's Week in Almedalen" in Visby every summer. Still going strong after five years we're housing speakers, groups and networks that in turn speak, hold workshops on, or whatever on a diverse array of subjects. A lot to think of there! If you're ever dropping by Sweden, coming to Gotland in the beginning of july might be a fun idea. ;)
I'll look into the talk pages. Jobjörn (Talk ° contribs) 00:43, 21 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hah! I actually just got out of jail, so that may be a bad idea. but i do some mellower stuff with a group called Books to Prisoners, sending well, books to prisoners, and I try to use the excuse that my band does benefits for a lot of projects that I don't have the time to participate in myself. I'm thinking of coming back to Europe later this year actually, unless other things come up. I visited a friend in Linkoping last time. It was nice, but the city seems kind of boring. I'd love to check out other parts of the country. Murderbike 02:07, 21 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Haha, jail? What was it for, something that would result in jail in most Western countries or something that only the US would throw you there for?
Anarchists in Linköping? I know some. May I inquire as to whom you were visiting? :) Jobjörn (Talk ° contribs) 14:42, 21 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Template talk:Protected Areas of Washington edit

Suggestion there for your consideration. --Duk 17:43, 4 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

There must be a way to have it default to collapsed (like Template:Railway lines in New South Wales). Maybe I'll tinker with it later when I have time if you don't figure it out first :) --Duk 17:50, 4 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Template: Protected Areas of Washington edit

Regarding your request for comment on my talk page: The template looks goods and I like that you defaulted it to collapsed due to the large size. I made the following corrections: (1) fixed the red link on State Forests by linking to List of Washington state forests, and (2) the link to Illinois Department of Natural Resources was changed to Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission. -- Zyxw 06:27, 5 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Triangle Lake, Oregon edit

Thanks for uploading the pic. Are you an OCF person by chance? Just guessing from your interests. I've seen your name around some of the DIY bicycle articles (some of which unfortunately are a little thin on notability). I'm not all that punk rock, but I've never owned a car either. Anyway, do you have any other Oregon images? Happy editing and biking! Katr67 19:04, 5 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Re: renaming images edit

Hi - I just saw your question regarding renaming an uploaded photo: you did exactly what was needed, namely upload a new version with the correct name :) In any future cases, you can mark the incorrect version with {{badname|name of new version.jpg}} and it'll get deleted. Thanks for contributing and kind regards from Commons Deadstar 07:44, 8 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Jerome Historic Park & area photos edit

Thanks for the photo! Looks nice. Cheers, Pete Tillman 17:09, 13 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Since you asked: Photos of the old parts of Cottonwood and Clarkdale would be great. Maybe some of the Bradshaws if you go up in the mountains -- I noticed you have it on your "to-write" list. I plan to write up Walker soon (S of Prescott) so a photo or two there would be a good spur. And/or Palace Station (Senator Hwy) if yougo that far. Cool place. If you go up or across Mingus Mtn, that's another photo opportunity, as would be the Woodchute Wilderness, N of Potato Patch campground at the summit -- another one on my to-write list. Granite Mountain Wilderness also needs photos, and an article.
I just wrote a short article on Cherry, Arizona (between Dewey and I-17) so photos of Cherry would be a plus. Also I don't believe we have any photos for Humboldt or Mayer. Or Dewey, though what you'd find to photograph there, I don't know.
Hope you have fun in Prescott --we used to live there, in the Granite Dells (another photo opp!]. Thanks, Pete Tillman 17:39, 13 June 2007 (UTC) (Rimrock/Verde Vly)Reply

Opposition to US Foreign Policy edit

Sure, no problem, mate. You need anything done in particular? Or just a general backing up kind of thing? I haven't really paid attention to the article to be honest since I agree'd that it [the article] carried anti-communist sentiments [Which I think I removed, but I can't remember]. Although I have noticed Ultramarine has given the article a fair amount of stick in the discussion page. Scarian 19:43, 15 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

FYI edit

thanks for your recent contributions on the policy article we really need more reasonable people here, anyhow regarding your recent contributions just wanted to let you know that there are certain editors who have very narrow POV's and have been POV pushing for years now and do not act in good faith also they will spend most of their time on WP and force good faith editors into never ending discussions which only serve to wear them down these editors often can not be reasoned with as they treat WP as an adverserial arena where they, having a lot of free time will always beat any good faithed editor into giving up and moving on, i have found the best way to stop such editors is not to enter into discussion with them but instead simply revert the damage they cause while drawing the attention of more and more people to their behaviour. hope I was of some help.  ;) Esmehwp 19:55, 15 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

further FYI edit

if you wish you may look through my recent contributions and those of other editors I think the information there will be insightful...

Also just wanted to say it takes a lot of wisdom and courage to be a male feminist kudos
