Speedy deletion nomination of Inky Mail

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Inky Mail, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Jackmcbarn (talk) 17:33, 29 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button (  or  ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 19:31, 29 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Jackmcbarn (talk) 15:24, 1 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

what did you mean by don't remove the old templates or something like that?

When you edited the page, you took off the template that said why it was declined the first time. You have to leave it there, because it's what has the Resubmit button. Jackmcbarn (talk) 18:01, 14 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

oh okay, thanks for fixing that for me!

Also I have another question. Does my article still sound too promotional? That's what the editor told me but I tried to make it as neutral sounding as possible

another question--if the word "you" is included in a quote, it's still okay to include that right? I was told to take out all the "you's" but this one's included in a quote

You still talk too much about features and not enough about anything else. For good examples on how not to sound promotional, look at the articles for Eudora and Foxmail. Jackmcbarn (talk) 18:50, 14 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

The company is still very small, and there's nothing else to talk about except the features. I'm not promoting the product but talking about what it does. How can I even talk about the product if I can't talk about the features? That's what makes it different than all the other mail clients.

I'm going to do some cleanup to it, then I'll see if I have more ideas for you. Jackmcbarn (talk) 19:00, 14 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
I've moved the article to Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Inky (email client). Old links will still work for now. I made several improvements and also left a comment on the page saying what you still need to do. Jackmcbarn (talk) 19:23, 14 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

I believe I fixed everything that you told me to, and I took out one of the quotes. It's difficult to take out the quotes because they create credibility for the product. Let me know how it sounds.

So I retract my last statement, I have NOW hopefully fixed everything! Could you take a look at it and let me know?

I've done some more cleanup. I think it's good enough now, but I don't have time to finalize the submission right now. If somebody else doesn't get to it in the next few days, I'll take care of it for you. Also, I noticed you changed some of the references after I reformatted them. This broke them, and they had to be changed back. Jackmcbarn (talk) 03:37, 16 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Where did my features section go? Did you delete that part?

Yes. The features are talked about enough in the main text. Having it will keep the article from getting accepted. Jackmcbarn (talk) 03:53, 17 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
I've accepted the article. It's now at Inky (email client). Be careful of adding new material to it, because if it becomes too promotional now, it may be deleted. Jackmcbarn (talk) 04:07, 17 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
Please stop adding the features list. It makes it too spammy and will likely result in the article's deletion. Jackmcbarn (talk) 03:25, 21 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Is your AfC done?

Is Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Inky Mail ready to be reviewed? If it is, you need to submit it using the template on it. Jackmcbarn (talk) 19:35, 10 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

I submitted it weeks ago and still hasn't been reviewed. I even talked to another person about this and they said it was being reviewed as we were speaking--that was earlier last week. How am I able to find out where the article is yet in the editing process?

I just cleaned up the article to remove a duplicate of everything, and to make it clear it's been submitted. The article isn't marked as being reviewed. Who said they were reviewing it? Jackmcbarn (talk) 18:13, 12 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

When I did the online chat someone said that they looked up the article and it was being reviewed. Thanks for being so helpful.

I want to add a features list to the article, if I add it, is it possible that the whole article could then be deleted? I just want to add a features list.
