Managing a conflict of interest
editHello, Mike 06. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Draft:Planetisation, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 10:35, 30 April 2020 (UTC)

Hi ToBeFree,
thanks for your message. my connection with the topic is my research and interest in the work of Pierre Teilhard de Chardin. please visit my user page.
best regards ~ Mike 06 (talk) 15:18, 30 April 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks, Mike 06. I'm just surprised about the strong focus on the topic, since most of your Wikipedia contributions since 2006 seem to be about this topic. I wonder if there might be a conflict of interest (COI) that makes you overestimate the notability of the term, since "editors with a COI are sometimes unaware of whether or how much it has influenced their editing."(WP:COI)
- I assume that the focus may be of an ideological / missionary nature, in a way that comes close to promotion. Not for a commercial cause, but for a greater good that is unrelated to building a neutral encyclopedia.
- I'm not entirely sure, though. Just, please, if a topic turns out to be "not notable", consider accepting this decision instead of repeatedly challenging it. The community is very hesitant towards neologisms: "these articles are often created in an attempt to use Wikipedia to increase usage of the term". If that is the motivation for creating the article, please don't do so.
- Best regards,
~ ToBeFree (talk) 20:00, 30 April 2020 (UTC)
Hi ToBeFree, i appreciate the work of those who dedicate time and mindful precision to edit/review articles. Thus Wikipedia can grow. The notability and relevance of an article depends foremost on its topic and content. The topic (lemma) describes a notable and important historic megatrend - at least for experts with knowledge in related scientific fields. This is why i added the topic - which of course is a focus of my research. To assume (publicly) that this creates an ‘ideological’ or ‘missionary’ bias is quite strange and frankly insulting. Have you read and understood the article - using a scientific mind? Can you describe in any way a relevance for your “assumption”? Are you experienced with similar topics that you have edited or reviewed until now? Please feel free to answer these questions. best regards : Mike 06 (talk) 02:53, 1 May 2020 (UTC)
