DYK of Clementi rail accident edit

May i know when is the hook going to join the DYK queue? Pls let me know if its going to be anytime soon (as I'm in Wikicup. Thanks -1.02 editor (talk) 14:02, 9 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

It will probably be between a few days and a couple of weeks. Another editor will have to close the nomination and add it to the queue (WP:DYK/Q), at which point it will probably be a few more days from running. The timeframe can vary quite a bit, but there really is nothing you can do but watchlist the nomination page and wait for it to be approved by another editor and added to the queue. Good luck in Wikicup! Michael Barera (talk) 02:28, 10 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

From Ohio and Michigan to Texas edit

Hi Michael - we met when you came down to OSU to give a presentation and meet with several of my colleagues a few years ago (my former username was bdleaf). I now work for the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, and incidentally, I'm based in the DFW area too! Lately, I have been involved in a task force to put together an edit-a-thon in partnership with WikiProject Medicine. You can find the details on a project page I put together here.

I just wanted to reconnect and get this on your radar, especially since working with you before has been very helpful in my current efforts. Hope all is well! Limitbreakleaf (talk) 21:59, 22 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Do you have an image of Wichita Falls's S. H. Rider High School? edit

Hi Michael, - I have spent parts of my last week assiduously improving the S. H. Rider High School article. I have used your evocative photo of Memorial Stadium (Wichita Falls) there, and I see that you've posted many other pics of Wichita Falls buildings and scenes at Wikimedia Commons. I am wondering if you have a photo of Rider High that you could post on Commons. If you do, I will copy it in a conspicuous spot in the Rider article, it's sorely needed there. I will watch this space for your reply (if any). Thanks much! - Babel41 (talk) 01:27, 16 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

I'm sorry, Babel41, but I didn't take any photos of S. H. Rider High School on my daytrips to Wichita Falls. I've only been twice; it is a good three hours from where I live in Commerce. In October 2015, my first trip focused mainly on downtown plus the Wichita River, Lake Wichita, the Railroad Museum, and Midwestern State University. I returned again this past January to visit the Museum of North Texas History and the Wichita Falls Museum of Art, but that is as much of the city as I've seen. I do have over 100 photos of MSU Mustangs road games at A&M-Commerce, however, if that could possibly be of any help. Again, I'm sorry, but thanks so much for your hard work on the S. H. Rider High School article...it really shows! Michael Barera (talk) 03:04, 16 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

GM experimental vehicles in the early 1950'ies and Preston Tucker's undertakings edit

Concerning the Wikipedia articles about two simultaneous Buick experimental vehicle projects: Studying the timeline, these projects might constitute an aftermath to "The Big Tree" slaughtering the Tucker Torpedo. Is that too much of a conjecture to at all suggest a connection in a Wikipedia article? After having placed a seed, I'll leave any initiative to you. Kim1958 (talk) 19:52, 10 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Good question. I read Steve Lehto's book on the Tucker (Preston Tucker and His Battle to Build the Car of Tomorrow) last year, and I don't remember it drawing explicit connections between GM's 1950s concept cars and its reaction to/the demise of the Tucker. I went back to the index in the book, and as I remembered all that it discussed was the alleged and suspected Big Three influence on and support for the SEC investigation of Tucker. As far as I can see with this solitary (albeit very good) secondary source, it is just conjecture, and unless/until I can find anything sufficiently substantial along those lines, I wouldn't be able to add it to the article. Thanks for asking about it, though. All the best! Michael Barera (talk) 20:32, 10 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
