Speedy deletion tags

You seem to be going around putting speedy deletion tags on just about everything you can find. The artcile Organised Chaos LAN Party was tagged for speedy deletion because: "the article appears to be about about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.) or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant" It's one of the biggest events of its kind in the world, that's significant. I think you need to contribute more, delete less. I understand that wikipedia should maintain a high standard, but I think you are deterring people from contributing.

I was previous warned that a more neutral way of writing would prevent this page from being deleted, and that has been what I have been working on. She is certainly a relevant and important figure in Carleton University's and CUSA's history - she was the president during an important, shaping period. Deletion of the Information in Place, Inc. Page

I see your request to delete this page. I am trying to simply replicate other notable developer pages as shown on Serious Games. Information in Place is at least as notable as the vast majority of those developers listed on the Serious Games page. Most of those companies have similar pages. I will add references here to this company's notability in the very near future. The company is cited in a large number of cases, though I cannot add a large number in the next few hours. Please bear with me. Jody Watley

I need help. There is a reference to a 'Midori' which is apparently some sort of stage name for a Michelle Watley who according to Wikipedia worked in the porn industry and is 'said to be her sister'.

This information appears in Watley's Shalamar Years (1977-1984). Because the information appears without context to the subject, I deleted it, and was cited for vandalism. I did post questions in talk to address my concerns, though no one has responded. I have read my concerns are better addressed with an administrator. I hope you can help me with this.

If this Michelle Watley (Midori) information is listed in the 'Personal Life' section, my question is what is the relevance to the article?

There are no sources given that would make the information credible, which is part of the Wikipedia guidlelines; which clearly state: "Proper sourcing always depends on context: common sense and editorial judgment are an indispensable part of the process. While the reporting of rumors has a news value, Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and should only provide information verified by reliable sources. Wikipedia is not the place for passing along gossip and rumors. Further, 'Exceptional Claims' Require Exceptional Sources, which would include "surprising claims not covered by the 'mainstream media': I would argue 'porn' would not fall under mainstream, and feels very much like gossip. I would definitely regard it as a 'surprising claim', as I have never seen this in the mainstream media. Jody Watley has been in the mainstream media since she was a prominent dancer on Soul Train in the 70's.[1]

Also included in analyzing this subject matter would be the Wiki guidelines of 'Exceptional Claims' would be anything which would alter mainstream assumptions, especially in... biographies of living persons. These claims would then require, according to Wikipedia 'High Quality Sources'." None of the criteria seems met here, which is also why I deleted this information in the article. Please explain, or delete the information.

Perhaps you can explain it further, the necessity and relevance beyond family members/personal life, especially since inclusion seems to violate Wikipedia policy. Most other artists pages of which I have visited and read, have personal information (family, husbands, relationships. etc) primarily in the 'Personal Life' section, not randomly placed within the context of an article. Is there a different standard in this case?

With the very arbitrary inclusion of 'porn star' as it is appears in the 'Shalamar Years',it seems solely intended to distract or damage Jody Watley somehow since she the artist we are reading about. I would say this especially since this Midori reference has nothing to do with her music. My question was, was this person doing porn in 1977-1984? Where are the sources? If there are no sources, according to Wikipedia the information "should be deleted immediately". So why was my deletion reverted and why was it called 'vandalism'? Did I miss a step?

'Porn' is not even referenced in the mainstream 'high quality' media sources as such. Generally speaking the language 'Adult films', 'Adult film stars, etc. is used.[2]. It seems even when replacing the word 'porn' to 'adult' - for some odd reason this too get reverted. Please explain this as well.

In Jody Watley 'Bio in My Own Words', she doesn't even mention a sister, which further creates doubt, and also highly probable that even is she has a sister, she is of little significance or influence with Jody's music[3], further making the inclusion irrelevant.

Solution: The information should be deleted from the article, and if you feel it's necessary to remain, then it should only be in 'Personal Life', along with information about her brother. Apologies. You missed my point. My point is not with the subject of whether or not she is the sister or not, that's really a secondary issue. Other people seemed stuck on that point. That was not my question.

My issue is in relation to the relevance to the article with regard to Shalamar, where one learns of this. What is the relevance to The Shalamar Years (1977-1984)?

Was Michelle/Midori doing adult films these years, while Watley was launching her career in the group? I deleted the info from the 'Shalamar Years 1977-1984) section, and simply placed it where it was at least in some context. It was reverted.

If you read the article, it appears totally out of context to the the subject, arbitrarily placed. Where is the source that these films were also occurring in 1977-1984?

If there is no context, and no highly regarded source according to Wikipedia it should be removed. Blender Magazine wasn't even around in 1977-1984.Blender Magazine, was first published in 1994. In addition, if Blender printed the information, they could have simply gotten it from Wikipedia. With all due respect it is debatable if Blender would be considered notable source. As well, it would be impossible for them to have printed anything in 1977-1984 because the magazine didn't even exist.

This is not me trying to do a is she or isn't she - it's all irrelevant as far as I'm concerned. How does it relate the The Shalamar Years - other than someone deciding that the subject matter related to 'porn' should appear, regardless of how out of context it is. That is my issue. Why for instance wouldn't this appear in the article at whatever point Watley was in her creative career? If it's a must for a very limited group people.

Once again, I'm not a part of the if Michelle/Midori is her sister or not. I tried to be clear about this, but it's the only thing you replied to, and nowhere in my comments do I recall challenging if she is her sister or not. I simply stated, she isn't mentioned in the Jody Watley 'Bio In My Own Words'. I am trying to improve the article, with regard to the artist career, which is what a bio is supposed to be about - not to do family tree investigations.

In terms of the whether or not the Myspace Page is Jody Watley, clearly it is - it's 'Official Jody Watley', with personal photo's, behind the scenes video's, blogs and links to her record label, publicist, booking, etc. She also makes reference to Wiki editors in giving references/sources to her bio, it's doubtful someone other the artist would go to such lengths. I would add, I know for a fact her page is not a fabrication, and if required I could certainly give verification that the page is that of Jody Watley. Do you need a notarized letter, a video post declaring the page is indeed her page? Respectfully asking.

In addition, if you are going to imply the 'Jody Watley Official Myspace Page" could be a fabrication, why have you (not you personally, rather Wiki) listed the Michelle Watley Page as a reference - when there is no information on that there which indicates she was doing pornography in 1977 - 1984 nor do I see anything that says they are sisters. I'm sure there must be a great number of people who share the same last name in the world - but once again, I am not focused on is she is or isn't she a sister or not. But since you mentioned it, how do you know that page actually belongs to Michelle Watley/Midori or not? How do you know that page isn't a fabrication? Is there a different standard? Lastly, why am I not allowed to change the language from 'porn' to 'adult', as it's and in line with the mainstream? Why not simply move an improved sentence to later in the article?

For instance if Michelle/Midori started doing adult films in the 90's or 00's (?) - wouldn't it appear later in the article in that context? Example: Reportedly known to have a sister named Michelle who adopted the professional name of 'Midori' in ( list year she assumed the name with source/reference), who went on to star in adult films during this time... or something to that effect. Though it would still be completely out of context to Watley's music career, at least it wouldn't be so arbitrary. Why would making that adjustment constitute vandalism?

Lastly, I still don't understand why this isn't left to the 'Personal Life', in the first place with a highly regarded citation for people who want to know about her family. How is changing "Connecticut" to "UConn" vandalism? When I graduate from there in 1981, no one called it "Connecticut," everyone called it UConn. What did they call it when you graduated from there? Besides, go online and read the Hartford Courant or the local television stations (WFSB TV 3, WTNH TV8, and WVIT TV 30). The entire local medial calls it "UConn," no one calls it "Connecticut." Also, the team's nickname "Huskies" only works with "UConn" (ie, like the dog who pulls a sled, a "Yukon Husky"). If the university was called "Connecticut," wouldn't a more appropriate nickname be something like the "Nutmeggers"? The school is UConn, and I did NOT commit vandalism! Why did you not "AGF," that is, assume that my changing "Connecticut" to "UConn" was done in good faith? Aren't Wikipedia contributors suppposed to make that assumption about other Wikipedia contributors? Instead, you tagged me as a vandal. I would never do anything to hurt the University of Connecticut. Nor, in my hundreds of revisions to Wikipedia, have I ever vandalized a single article. In my four years at the school and my 30 years living in Connecticut, I never heard of anyone referring to it as "Connecticut"; it was always called "UConn." In fact, we were instructed to call it "UConn" during freshman orientation ("always with a upper case 'C,' never with a lower case 'C,'" the person who ran the orientation said). But, I admit that I have lived in Colorado for twelve years now, and maybe things back in Connecticut have changed. But, nonetheless, my revision was done in good faith, and I don't appreciate being labeled as a vandal.

MSNBC HD on DirecTV

Hi I saw you mentioned that DirecTV has plans to add MSNBC HD upon launch on List of DirecTV channels#Future DirecTV channels but the source you referenced has nothing about DirecTV in it, its just about the HD launch itself, so I removed it per WP:CRYSTAL. No worries; I misplaced the original article (which is pretty old in and of itself) -- but in it, it includes MSNBC among HD channels DirecTV would add upon launching. In any event, the article itself is old, and given that many HD channel additions previously promised and announced have been put off by DirecTV (E!, Style, Travel Channel, Hallmark Movie Channel, et.al.), I wouldn't be surprised if they held off on launching until D12 reaches orbit late this summer or early this fall. As for the Russian books - Vodennikov is a Russian poet, therefore his books are in Russian. And it doesn't make much sense to make an article about a poet without listing his books: the books are what poets are for. If you look at articles about Arthur Rimbaud, Pablo Neruda or Nobel winning Wisława Szymborska or novelists Kenzaburo Oe or Naguib Mahfouz, you will see that listing a writers's books in his native language is a norm - just as spelling his name in his native script.

I removed the speedy deletion tag you put on Blue marble energy. The article clearly did not meet that criterion at all. Looking at your talk page you've obviously had a lot of problems with this. MhKing, you appear to have deleted the entry on Yuko Yamashita only a day after marking it as a candidate for deletion. Could you please inform me as to why it was removed; what could have been added to it to make it more 'notable'? Yuko Yamashita is an internationally renowned inventor, and worked hard to have her invention patented by the Japenese government in the mid 90s. She has been successful on a global level and her invention is a recognised household name in the finest hair establishments on the planet, yet she is deemed not 'notable'? if this is a question of documentation and references, I would very much appreciate it if you granted me a chance to amend it appropriately. I did previously request information on how to make this more notable, but you did not feedback, simply removed the entry.

Please advise.

update: I don't understand, im a fan of Kirkey and im a fan of the his show and his accomplishments so thats why i decided to make him a wikipedia page.

I not sure what you mean by "pure promotion and little substance." all i've done was state his accomplishments a tell the reader who barry kirkey is through the article, if you read the article you will see that.

Also the sources im using, are the direct sources of where i learned all the information about Kirkey.

also what do you mean exactly when you say independent and verifiable sources?

Research before deletion of Fungi article

I wonder could you elaborate on what research you did before you recommended the deletion of the Fungi the Dingle Dolphin page? I presume you wouldn't flag a page for deletion before at least doing a google search?

It would have been better if we could have had at the very least a few days of discussion as to whether the article should remain or be deleted. No discussion has taken place thus far. From the first time it was suggested that the original article should be deleted until the final deletion just 16 minutes were given, it was some time after 2am in my time-zone and alas I was asleep.

Further, I'd welcome contributions to the discussion as to whether the original article should remain. The question is how note-worthy are the articles about Fungi in The Irish Independent [4], The Irish Times [5]? How important is it that Fungi has been mentioned on both the BBC [6] web-site and the New York Times[7]? Is it relevant that RTE [8] has broadcast a documentary about Fungi.

Also a google search for fungi dingle dolphin gives over 11,000 hits.

Why are you deleting my article Naraka (Hinduism)?

Every single paragraph is accurately sourced to the Shrimad-Bhagavatam a very important and popular Hindu Book. Every single paragraph has its own source, so how can you say it is un-sourced or personal research? I spent hours on this page and made sure I sourced every single thing I wrote. Please let me know. It is sourced on in every paragraph. It is much better sourced than Naraka (Buddhism) which barely has any sources. In this article every thing I wrote I provided a source underneath.
