Bwahh? Raul Ashraf

Apparently you and I were both browsing the recent changes page, but I have to question your decision to put Rauf Ashraf in the quick delete pile. I added a cite and wiki template, and really I think that's all there needs to be, I mean the guy notes that this guy's company or whatever as achieved billion dollar assets, and I think that qualifies as a notable biography. Could you chat with me on the talk page a bit? Thanks, Danielfolsom 03:11, 3 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Ya but a quick delete doesn't give the author much time... Hmm, I don't know, I'm really hesitant to take out a bio with this first sentence,

"He started at the largest asset management firm on Wall Street and worked for five years with two of the world’s largest hedge funds with peak assets of over one billion dollars."

Honestly I don't know much about the guy, but you should def. note on the talkpage what you want the author to do. Danielfolsom 03:17, 3 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ohhhh my bad, I didn't know the page was something different

"Notability," regarding Wiki page for Xfanz.com

Good morning! I copied this from the AFD entry for Xfanz.com:

  • OK, I've done some reading about the notability guidelines for Wikipedia. I'd like to call your attention to the seventh prong:

^ Content that is distributed by independent online sites will almost certainly satisfy the first criterion. However, this criterion ensures that our coverage of such content will be complete regardless. For example, Ricky Gervais had a podcast distributed by The Guardian. Such distributions should be nontrivial. Although GeoCities and Newgrounds are exceedingly well known, hosting content on them is trivial.

Many Web sites use XFANZ RSS feeds for their news content. One prominent site that uses our content is Booble.com (Booble's Wikipedia entry), the adult search engine:

http://booble.com/nation/

You'll see that we are the sole news provider for one of the most popular adult search engines on the Web.

I believe this should satisfy the requirement for notability.

Thanks!

Wikifascist

This term is quickly moving from nonsense to mainstream slang. When I first started hearing it, I had trouble finding a definition for it. It would be helpful for Wikipedia to carry a working definition of a word that has quickly entered our language and is being legitimized. When do new terms coined on the Internet (like "blog") move from being nonsense to commonly used slang? In Defense of the Artist 23:51, 3 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

So how old does a word have to be before being defined as a neologism? ...and what criteria would back up the legitimacy of slang other than it's common usage? In Defense of the Artist 00:01, 4 January 2007 (UTC)\Reply
Thanks, I'll hit my periodicals where Wikislang's been dropped to find more sources. In Defense of the Artist 00:12, 4 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Lyrics

OK. That edit MUST be good. Since ONE line from Love Profusion was added and criticised negatively, I added ONE Live To Tell line and added a source that criticises it positively. Editing a Madonna page is so hard. This I know. lol

However, Madonna's vocals on Live To Tell were considered her best by others at the time[1].

They deemed Live To Tell's lyrics poignant.[2] "A man call tell a thousand lies. I've learned my lesson well. Hope I live to tell the secret I have learned. 'Til then it will burn inside of me."[3]

Madonna also received good reviews from some reviewers for her Love Don't Live Here Anymore cover[4] which was described as "heartfelt vocal"[5].

Some critics do see Madonna as a talented songwriter[6][7].

Vandalism?

Hi - which page was inappropriate, that may be deemed as vandalism? I assure you that all of the pages that I have just edited were done with the best possible intentions. I apologise for any inconvenience caused.

sunshine skyway bridge external links

on your 'external links'section, the listing "The Sunshine Skyway Bridge" and it's redirect to http://www.bridgepix.com/ is someone's personal site. they collected pictures of bridges. the link below it, Sunshine Skyway Bridge page at Interstate275Florida.com and it's redirect to http://www.interstate275florida.com/ssb.htm, a personal site someone created about the driving over the bridge. with the same logic you use to remove my link to the skyway bridge, i expect you to remove those links as well. please explain to me why those have more validity then mine? perhaps you have issue with the site contents. is this the case? my site has zero personal relevance to me. i don't share recipes, i post no pictures of me on vacation, we don't blog. it's 100% about the skyway bridge and what happens on and around it. read the site. i feel you prejudice my site for some reason. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.200.105.180 (talk) 18:18, 8 January 2007 (UTC).Reply

i think you are prejudiced. my site has many skyway facts and a warning to those not wishing to view what may be disturbing to them. i wish i had the time you spend policing wikipedia by swinging your big censorship club at every opportunity. you know you are wrong. good luck with that.

FFF (artist)

How can you speedy delete the article about FFF (artist) if the deletion is contested? I clearly says that when someone contests a speedy deletion, the article can only be deleted via the normal deletion procedure.

"An article that fails to even claim that the subject of the article is notable can be speedily deleted under criterion A7, however. A mere claim of notability, even if contested, may avoid deletion under A7 and require a full Article for Deletion process to determine if the subject of the article is notable." WP:BAND

Her the article was deleted a couple of hours after the speedy deletion was announced. Why would I even bother to write anything for the Wikipedia if this is the way it's governed. No one has even bothered to read the talk page and the arguments that are posed against deletion. This suck big time. You can count me out as a wikipedian if this is the way things are run around here.

psi36 17:52, 23 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

The article had been deleted before, that's why I included an explanation in the talk page at the same time as I wrote the article. The first time the article was deleted I hadn't even had the chance to contest it (I'm not the original author). Is there any way to get this article on here again as I'm convinced it does meet the requirements. The only problem is that the articles I could reference to are in Dutch. And the record labels (and other artist on the roster of those labels) that prove the importance of FFF within the breakcore genre are only notable within that genre. So someone who isn't into breakcore probably won't know them. I don't think that should be a reason not to include this article, since then all articles about artists in less known genres should be deleted. How can I restore this article without it being deleted again the same day? psi36 18:31, 23 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
BTW: sorry if my first reaction was a bit crude. I didn't check whether it was you who actually deleted the page. Apparently it was someone else. psi36 18:35, 23 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Mary Easaw-John

I just placed the entry on Wikipedia when I got a notice of speedy deletion.. I haven't even perfected the article yet.. For ur info, Mary is the Chief Dietitian of the Malaysian National Heart Institute, which is Malaysia's referral centre for cardiology and it is a government institute. She has been responsible for bringing dietetics in Malaysia, which was once an unknown field, to the forefront.

The American Overseas Dieticians Association (AODA) appointed her as country representative for Malaysia in 2004. She is also the first Malaysian dietician to receive the International Dietetic Network STAR Award bestowed by the AODA for 2005/2006. The award also makes her the first Asian to be recognised for leadership skills and promoting nutrition and dietetics locally and internationally as a country representative.

Pie

I edited pie and I want to know if this is okay.

Pie throwing

Cream filled or topped pies are favourite props for humour, particularly when aimed at the pompous. Throwing a pie in a person's face has been a staple of film comedy since the early days of the medium, and real life pranksters have taken to targeting politicians and celebrities with their pies, an act called pieing. Many clowns enjoy throwing pies at targets such as people's faces. Activists sometimes engage in the pieing of political and social targets as well. One such group is the Biotic Baking Brigade. "Pieing" can result in injury to the target and assault or more serious charges against the pie throwers [1]. In Des Moines, Iowa, in 1977, singer and anti-gay-rights activist Anita Bryant became one of the first persons to be "pied" as a political act.[citation needed] See List of people who have been pied.

License tagging for Image:Colorheads2.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Colorheads2.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Ok then first, what exactly do you mean by "notable"?? Should it be known by each and every person in the world?? You say that you are from Gary, Indiana. I'm sure you do not know anything about happenings in Chennai. Even I don't know anything about Gary, so should I go deleting articles about it?
Second, more importantly, none of the articles are created on a single day. Please give some time to upload and update the article. I accept that it is not a good article at the moment but come on, if bad articles should be deleted the minute they're created, then how was Wikipedia built? I am in the process of requesting his current and previous students to add information about him and provide more "notable" info. Please give at least a couple of weeks time and even after that you find the article bad, you can delete it to your heart's content.
And finally, this is just for your information, the other 3 admins who deleted the article also did it within a minute of uploading, only that I didn't request them this much. Please excuse me if I sounded too harsh, which I didn't mean to.
