Speedy deletion nomination of Rat Race EP edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Rat Race EP requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Undiscussed, unsourced genre changes edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. I have noticed that some of your recent genre changes, such as the one you made to Watershed (Opeth album), have conflicted with our neutral point of view and verifiability policies. While we invite all users to contribute constructively to Wikipedia, we urge all editors to provide reliable sources for edits made. When others disagree, we recommend you seek consensus for certain edits by discussing the matter on the article's talk page. Additionally, do not remove hidden notes from the genre field asking editors to discuss changes or provide sources for genres, as you did at Pale Communion. Thank you. MrMoustacheMM (talk) 20:00, 23 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

It is misleading to generally call Opeth a progressive death metal band, even when they've released two pure-prog-rock albums, and are about to release their third, as well as the fact that their recent metal albums like Watershed and Ghost Reveries also have had huge pure-progressive rock elements. Also, the opening line of their main article calls them a prog-metal band, so I thought it would just be more general and that it would not pigeonhole them into a genre that they have many times leaned far away from. MetalicMadness (talk) 09:34, 24 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
Alright, that's reasonable. In the future, however, it's best to start a discussion on the talk pages of articles rather than just unilaterally changing genres. So many people come along and change them without discussion to fit their own views that it's hard to know who is changing with good reason and who is changing because "NO THAT'S WRONG I KNOW BETTER". An edit summary saying something like "Opeth's main article calls the band 'progressive metal'." would also be a good idea. I'll go ahead and revert some of my reverts, because as you say, Opeth itself calls them "progressive metal". MrMoustacheMM (talk) 16:52, 24 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Golden Oldies (album) edit

Hello MetalicMadness,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Golden Oldies (album) for deletion, because it seems to be an article that was created in violation of a block or ban. Content created by banned users will be deleted immediately.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Vanjagenije (talk) 19:46, 2 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

^No I can't, as I'm now blocked. But I'll post my contest here: if you look at the sources cited on the article, you will realise that all of the info in the article is true. Also, it was not in violation of a block. I was not blocked at the time. MetalicMadness (talk) 00:17, 3 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
