Xplor International edit

A tag has been placed on Xplor International, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising that only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of Xplor International and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Spiesr (talk) 20:19, 16 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Xplor international edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Xplor international, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? The Evil Spartan (talk) 16:49, 5 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

The demise of Latin edit

That's fine with me Bill - I'll change it in a minute if you have not already done so. What I meant was, no one now speaks Latin as a native language - native Latin speakers came to speak the Romance languages - you cannot study with any persons who currently learned Latin at their mother's knee. As for the demise, don't we all reach a demise? I am sure you cannot suppose Latin speakers living on into eternity speaking their language. I don't know how you must have interpreted demise. We all have one and so did they. I think you must be denying death there. Classics does not endow individuals with eternal life. However what you want to say is an acceptable periphrastic without us having to face the awful death in our encyclopedic reading as we sit in out comfortable studios under our warm and dry roofs while others go out and die for the privilege of us continuing to speak our language until we too actually die. When I die my English is going with me, I'm pretty sure. Cato had a demise too I am pretty sure. There is no reason however why I should not oblige you. I think your words are good and true. Thanks for suggesting the change. By the way I think the article is pretty good. I will be checking it mainly to make sure it does not imply wrong things, is up to date, has enough references so I can get the tag off, and does not repeat what was said under Latin. If possible I would like to see the Latin write-up in here but not at the expense of this article's integrity. Also I want to make sure this article is up-to-date vis-a-vis the current state of Wikipedia. Thanks again for your interest and for running your concepts by me.Dave (talk) 15:53, 30 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Done, Bill. But, I only expanded a little on the concepts previously presented. Most philological concepts are not precise. Good luck with your website. Don't let the halloween goblins get you down. Ciao.Dave (talk) 22:19, 30 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

EAR edit

Hello Mccalpin. The article Richardson, Texas has been the subject of a discussion at EAR. Among the comments were suggestions that the contributors could consider discussing any issues on the article's talk page. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 00:57, 28 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, Kudpung. I have been away from this page for too long...I will try to keep the children in line... ;-) William J. 'Bill' McCalpin (talk) 02:06, 2 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Are you taking leadership on it? I have been trying to find someone in that position so I welcome it if so. I have a comment regarding the tense of the article; it seems to be written in present tense whereas I think it would be a better long term strategy to specify the time frame. If this is wrong for some reason I am anxious to learn. Thanks. Cor resident (talk) 08:59, 2 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

The new lead paragraph seems a bit slanted to me. It speaks of Richardson only in terms of businesses and overlooks the basic fact that half the area of the city is residential, places where people live. This most fundamental need for human habitation as well as a place where individuals and families can be sovereign helps maintain balance and sanity in society. In my view the whole article focuses on economic features and worships the almighty dollar without consideration of societal matters. Cor resident (talk) 10:23, 2 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Richardson Improvement Corporation edit

In researching the article on Richardson, Texas I have encountered some references to a non-profit corporation co-mingled with the City municipal corporation. It seems that Bill Keffler is the president of RIC and an Asst. City Manager is the V.P. This is an arrangement that opens all sorts of room for corruption and I have found other sources that allege actual malfeasance. I am trying to find more information and I wonder if you can shed any light on this subject. Thank you. Cor resident (talk) 16:18, 8 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

WikiProject Romania edit

Hi! From your edits, it looks like you might be interested in contributing to WikiProject Romania. It is a project aimed at organizing and improving the quality and accuracy of articles related to Romania. Thanks and best regards!

Hi! I want to thank you for your invitation, but I am concerned that my Romanian is "read-only" in the data processing point of view. In fact, I don't remember what I edited, although it doesn't surprise me that I did so, since I have edited certain articles in most Romance languages...after all, Romanian is just Latin with Slavic loan words instead of Germanic and Arabic loan words...heh heh, no doubt many philologists have just had heart attacks ;-)

Still, there are limits, as I am sure you can imagine.

I wish you success in your endeavors and will probably still make an edit or two in my oh-so-slow Romanian ;-)
