File permission problem with File:Min Pai at Yun Mu Kwan Karate Institute 1964.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Min Pai at Yun Mu Kwan Karate Institute 1964.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 13:41, 14 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use File:Master Carolyn Campora of Nabi Su doing Fan form.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Master Carolyn Campora of Nabi Su doing Fan form.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Peripitus (Talk) 09:40, 11 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

This file is not replaceable with a freely available file edit

This file shows Carolyn Campora, of the Nabi Su Kung Fu school in New York City, doing a Nabi Su form. There are no free-use images of Carolyn Campora doing Nabi Su forms, therefore, there is no free use alternative to using this file. This file was created by the Nabi Su kung fu school for the purpose of illustrating the style and "Master"(in this case the owner and teacher) of the Nabi Su Kung Fu school. There is no commercial value to this file, and no potential commercial loss for this use of the picture in the Nabi Su Wikipedia article. Please let me know if you need any other information.

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Nabi Su may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. Orphaned non-free image File:Portrait of Min Q Pai, 1972.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Portrait of Min Q Pai, 1972.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 23:05, 1 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

File Restored edit

The image was accidentally deleted from the article and is now placed back into the article. This non-free file is a fair use - there are no replacement files from another source, the source has given the files to be used by anyone in any way (so long as he is credited as the photographer), and the file is a photo of someone now deceased, who died in 2004. The fair use of this file was accepted before this file was accidentally deleted, and the file is now restored to the article. Mary Vaccaro (talk)

Your question edit

Deletion discussions are not really the best place to ask for help. The help desk is better venue in the future. I have removed the IP's comments and the point about which they were arguing. The particular claim they were arguing about was not supported by a citation to a reliable source, therefore I have removed it entirely per WP:CHALLENGE; which in effect was what the IP was trying to do, but didn't know any better. If you get into a content dispute with another editor, you should discuss the point of disagreement with them, either on one of your user talk pages or the article talk page. Endlessly reverting each others' contributions is edit warring, which is not only counter-productive but can result in one or both parties being blocked. I should also mention that simply because you are the major contributor to this article does not give you power of veto over the edits of others; no matter how much you disagree with them. You don't own it. Bellerophon talk to me 07:48, 10 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

A tag has been placed on File:Eido Tai Shimano Roshi with Min Pai and students at Nabi Su in 1972.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Userfied Article edit

Now at User:Mary Vaccaro/Nabi Su. When you have improved it, I strongly recommend that you use the WP:AfC approval process - use the green link in the banner I added to add it to the queue when you are finished. If you try to move it back to article space directly, there's always a chance that someone will tag it for speedy deletion under Wikipedia:Csd#G4. If you get the AfC reviewers to approve your page then that won't be an issue. Ronhjones  (Talk) 21:46, 18 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Will do. Thanks for your help. Mary Vaccaro (talk) 00:05, 19 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
