edit

Per WP:StS you should not copy userbox material onto your userpage, thus I have put your sourced userboxes into subpages.

Regarding cub category

edit

Please alert me directly on my talk page if you notice anything else. coelacan00:10, 5 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

The CFD is probably going to be speedy closed now, but I should let you know that even when you have a "vested interest" in something like a user category, you are allowed and encouraged to say anything you want regarding keeping or deleting. It's not a bad idea to mention that you're in the category, but once you've done that you can make your case as you would at any other time. It's not WP:COI. coelacan04:34, 5 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Another, different editor expressed a concern that Category:Cub Wikipedians might be accidentally misused by careless people who confuse Cub and Cub. I think that renaming the category to Category:Bear cub Wikipedians should allay this concern. What are your thoughts on such a renaming? coelacan16:26, 5 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

All right. That's enough people in the category who have agreed with this, so I'll do it; the fastest way will be for me to just make the new category and then move everyone over to it. coelacan00:34, 7 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Night of the Ninja

edit

Okay, this message is kind of late. I rented Night of the Ninja at an old, indepedent video store by my old house in San Diego. I'll be back down there in a couple months so I'll try and get some more info from the VHS box. If you can find any more information on it, that would be great. Since there is hardly any info on it anywhere, I'm theorizing that it's a "compilation" of 2 or 3 older martial arts films edited together to appear as a single film. It would be interesting to find out which films those are if my theory is correct. Best. -Meilander 4/8/07

Frank Jasper (Vision Quest) Article Scheduled For Deletion

edit

Hi there, You have shown through your contributions that you're a fan of the 1980s movie "Vision Quest". I created an article on actor Frank Jasper who played the villian, Brian Shute, in the movie. I've also included information about what Dr. Jasper is doing now. Many people have wondered through Wikipedia and Imdb whatever happened to him, and I've tried to put this information out there for everyone. Unfortunately, some people think the article should be deleted for whatever reason. If you loved the movie as much as I did, please go to this link and voice your support before the article is deleted. Thanks a lot. I would appreciate your support very much.

Please do not try to void other user's opinions ever again

edit

[To answer your possibly rheotrical questions at the start of your nomination, yes, the nominator has ultimate control if they wish to end the debate early, it's their name on the starting line. There is nothing to stop someone else from picking up the nomination and running with it, which I see you've done. Mallanox 23:00, 12 April 2007 (UTC)]Reply

That situation is completely wrong and should change. What it does is give the nominator the right to void other users' contributions. It is absurd, it ignores consensus. It can change, and it must change. Honbicot 19:59, 14 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

thank you

edit

I appreciate your kind words. =) While I'm here I'm going to be a picky jerk! The commenter above has a good point. If you withdraw your nomination, that doesn't close the XFD unless everyone else was !voting to keep. And in that case only, it's a WP:SNOW close and you should ask an admin to close it. I know you've probably seen other people do it the way that you did, with a withdrawl automatically resulting in "keep", but it actually doesn't work that way if there's any opposition, and such closes can be easily overturned at WP:DRV. Now you know. =) coelacan23:17, 15 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Well, you live and learn. Is there somewhere I can read up on this as it's part of wikilore that I was previously unaware of and as you rightfully say I've seen happen before. Mallanox 23:43, 15 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

The relevant thing I could find right now is Wikipedia:Deletion process#Non-administrators closing discussions, which says non-admins may not speedy-close. I'm not sure if there is policy or guideline against an administrator closing nomination withdrawn even when there are objections to doing so, but I do know that it is pretty much always overturned at WP:DRV, if challenged. It's just a bad idea, since no one OWNs the nomination, not even the nominator, and if the community already has one forum to discuss something, it's disruptive to close it and reopen it elsewhere. coelacan00:26, 16 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Your message reg Deletion of films.

edit

I agree with you , but feel these are different cases and require more clarification. The reason I have put a delete tag on those films is that they are highly speculative in nature and cannot be verified by any film website or web search.

Sashank Mavayya This film is totally specuative and not was made by a new user who has gone on a rampage and created 5-6 articles about films which are not planned or in the pipline. Please take a look at this [1] to get a background on the issue.

Regarding Tapori (film) I have been reading Newspaper articles speculating about the remaking of Pokiri into Hindi from the past 7-8 months. But nowhere have I heard that it has been finalized and that it has been given a name. In fact I have reason to believe that it may be the same user behind this article too, although in a previous avatar. --Deepak D'Souza (talkcontribs) 13:25, 23 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Untitled Sangeeth Sivan Project this thing falls in the same category and the same creator. He made the article when another of his speculative articles Killer (hindi film) was tagged with delete. --Deepak D'Souza (talkcontribs) 13:30, 23 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hope you don't mind...

edit

I made a spelling and a formatting fix to your user page. It's probably not really my business to do such things, but some RFA voters seem to care about things like userpage formatting and userboxes. (Actually, I think objections like that are rather stupid.)

Good luck on the RFA. I'm going to check your contributions and voice my opinion. --Elkman (Elkspeak) 15:42, 23 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion

edit

I've reverted your removal of a speedy delete tag on article Sashank Mavayya. The creator Sc4900 (talk · contribs) was blocked after a discussion at WP:ANI.

The articles created by the user are-

All of which are clear hoaxes and are tagged as such. Some ended up on AfD, but theres no real need for that since its been established they are obvious hoaxes.

Regards,xC | 18:47, 23 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

My apologies. As per WP:HOAX, hoax articles are not speedy deletion candidates. In this case, its clear they are hoaxes, so IMO they could be considered vandalism, but anyhow. Sorry for the unneccessary removal. Best regards,xC | 19:00, 23 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
Yes, that page doesn't seem to load properly with headings in the link. If you'd go to WP:ANI and search for the term (Ctrl+F if you're on Windows) Sc4900, you'll find the thread.
Hope that helps. Regards,xC | 06:25, 24 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Speedy tag on Adtran

edit

I expanded the Adtran article, and removed the speedy tag from it. In general, if a company's shares are traded on a stock market, there is a very good chance that references can be found to demonstrate that the company is notable, even if the article's creator has not included them. --Eastmain 01:26, 26 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Speedy Delete request on The Stiz

edit

I saw your response to my recent request for a speedy delete of the article titled The Stiz which I have subsequently moved to Steven Laverty. In attempting to find some mention of this person to move the article beyond the stub stage, the only connection I could find between a Steven "The Stiz" Laverty and The Irish News was this Google hit: http://www.irishnews.com/access/archivesearch/issue.asp?selDay=20&selMonth=3&selYear=2006&cat=621 which shows only a few articles authored about life as a 15-yr old in N. Ireland. Based on this, I respectively ask you to reconsider the case for speedy delete. Or is this more properly an AFD discussion? Regards, BierHerr 20:35, 29 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi there - I noticed you closed the discussion as "no consensus" (which I'm perfectly happy with, given the way the discussion went) but you left a notice on the category talk page saying the decision was "keep". I must admit that I didn't think the two were synonymous, as "keep" suggests a positive decision to keep as opposed to "keeping as it is because there was no agreement to do otherwise". But maybe I misunderstood the nuances of CfD! Regards, Bencherlite 23:21, 2 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

no problem - I did wonder, but didn't want to change the tag without checking (WP:COI and all that jazz). As I said, I think it's the right result in the circumstances, so you won't be hearing any complaints from me about your first CfD closing. I've been talking with Johnbod, the other main participant in the discussion, and (apart from thanking each other for the civil tone of the discussion, unlike some CfDs recently) we've agreed that Category:Juilliard School people needs a clear-out – when I'm back from holiday in mid-May that is! White Paper Co.'s speedy deletion

edit

Hello. You recently declined my request for the speedy deletion of the White Paper Co. article. According to your edit summary, your reason for declining the request was that the notability of the company was asserted when the notability was never doubted. The problem with the article is that it is obviously written like an ad. Following your declining of my request, another editor tagged it for several problems. My User Page

edit

I was simply placing something on this page in order to edit it later at home. I am unable to use any other method of getting work home other than Wikipedia. I have done this before and it has been perfectly fine. In fact, I once deleted work on my page NOT logged in and it was put back by an admin. Your choice to delete my page has seriously messed up what I was doing. It would be nice if there was some way I could recover my work, but I don't know if that's possible. In the future, you need to somehow let people know what is wrong with their page and give them time to delete or edit the fault. Thanks to you, I will be receiving a poor mark in my class. Yes I am angry, but I will get over it. And you have nothing to worry about with "retaliation" or anything of the sort. I just wanted to let you know how much you hurt me.

I'm not arguing with the removal of the speedy tag, but I am a bit puzzled by the admonishment in the edit summary. As far as I'm aware, I'm not psychic, so I have no way of knowing when or if an A1/A3 speedyable article is going to be expanded, whether it was created a minute ago or a month ago. Please elaborate. Thanks. --Finngall talk 02:50, 31 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Point taken, but it's hard to avoid biting newbies given that 95% of the articles I speedy-tag are first contributions by new accounts and most of the rest are almost as new. Good faith edits are exceedingly rare in this crop, and the speedy deletion criteria mostly don't take good faith into account. I faithfully notify users about tagged articles--I've been the first contributor to hundreds of user talk pages--and I try to be very patient when replying to the "Wah! You deleted my article!" messages I get regularly.
It works both ways...we certainly need to be inclusive and welcoming, but it would be nice if we could get more new editors to RTFM before posting. --Finngall talk 22:32, 31 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

try typing "white cross" or "white cross drug" into the search box, it does not find this page. i think it should be removed still but i wont revert back to my changes, ill let you decide. this information could perhaps be added to the page it redirects to or to another article it relates to, i dont think it is information is valuable enough to have its own article though, thats why i think it should be deleted. With your justification, should we create a page naming every single slang term relating to Amphetamine's and redirect to the main article? i think this is would be pointless and a waste of time. thanks for your concern Slowbro 13:03, 3 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
