Hello, Liamm1968. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "James Wright".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Mjs1991 (talk) 08:51, 1 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Draft restored

edit

Done – as a draft that was deleted under CSD G13, the page has been restored upon request. However, the draft namespace, though it is intended to provide some breathing room to create and develop a page without the time pressure of immediate review, is not for the indefinite hosting of material that is unsuitable for inclusion in the article mainspace. Please continue to work on the draft so that it meets Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for inclusion and then submit it for review—at the least, prior to another six months elapsing. When you are ready, a review can be requested by placing this code at the top of the page and then saving: {{subst:submit}}. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 04:05, 3 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

James Wright

I have attempted to clean up your draft article. I am however finding it extremely difficult to source any information on Wright. Are there any other sources that you've used to write the draft.. that haven't been included? Dan arndt (talk) 09:45, 2 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi Dan, Thank you so much for tidying the draft article.

I sourced burial info from this website previously, but it is currently not working:- https://www.otodc.govt.nz/public-services/cemeteries/cemeteries-search/ He was buried on 2nd January 1985, but date of death was not shown on this site.

His death was registered in 1985. Registration number 1985/30576 as per this website https://www.bdmhistoricalrecords.dia.govt.nz/search/search?path=%2FqueryEntry.m%3Ftype%3Ddeaths

One of my sources was a newspaper clipping from the Bay Of Plenty Times. Exact date of the clipping is unknown, but it is circa January 1985 and was a Friday issue. Obtaining exact date and page etc would require a visit to the Tauranga City Library, but it is 200km from where I live. Here is transcript:-

Agriculture interest A FORMER Minister of Agriculture in Jamaice,

Mr James Wright, CBE,

has died in Tauranga. He was 80.

Mr Wright lived in

Otorohanga after coming to New Zealand.

He will be buried in

Otorohanga next to his first wife,Molly.

He retired in Tauranga

about 14 years ago, and is survived here by his third wife, May, whom he mar- ried nine years ago.

He also wrote a journal article per these details:-

An Experiment in Land Settlement at Lucky Hill, Jamaica James Wright Caribbean Quarterly Vol. 1, No. 2 (JULY AUGUST SEPTEMBER 1949), pp. 29-39 Published by: Taylor & Francis, Ltd. https://www.jstor.org/stable/40652454

He is also mentioned in this article titled "The Lucky Farmer" per these links:-

https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/page/3968222 https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/page/3968354

You described his date of death as "late 1984/early 1985". I think it might be better worded as December 1984/January 1985 and include his date of burial of 2nd January 1985.

There are a large number of historical newspaper articles mentioning him at this website:- https://gleaner.newspaperarchive.com/ However it requires a subscription to view them and lots of time to go through them.

Thanks again for your work. I hope the above is helpful,

Cheers Liam Liamm1968 (talk) 22:12, 3 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
