Speedy deletion nomination of BroadMap edit

A tag has been placed on BroadMap, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. ukexpat (talk) 15:14, 4 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Edit summaries edit

Just a reminder, please use edit summaries. Thanks! – ukexpat (talk) 19:08, 4 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your advice. I am currently in the process of making changes and have reached out to my peers...i.e. wikiproject virginia and two other editors for guidance in making the necessary changes. I have already added some new references and am in the process of not making it appear as a news release. I would like a little more time please in making the necessary corrections to deem it a worthy article. Thank you. Lcburns (talk) 19:15, 4 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
OK, pretty please use edit summaries. – ukexpat (talk) 01:39, 5 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, I thought I had, but I guess it didn't post correctly or I missed a step. Lcburns (talk) 15:35, 5 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Your recent edits edit

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you must sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button   located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 19:20, 4 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Nomination of Wikipedia:WikiProject Virginia/Peer review/BroadMap for deletion edit

A discussion has begun about whether the article Wikipedia:WikiProject Virginia/Peer review/BroadMap, which you created or to which you contributed, should be deleted. While contributions are welcome, an article may be deleted if it is inconsistent with Wikipedia policies and guidelines for inclusion, explained in the deletion policy.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Wikipedia:WikiProject Virginia/Peer review/BroadMap until a consensus is reached, and you are welcome to contribute to the discussion.

You may edit the article during the discussion, including to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Patrick, oѺ 01:26, 5 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your reply. I have added a discussion on the Project page and have already updated and made improvements to the article. I received advice from another fellow user and have since made the changes. I am continuing to improve this article. Lcburns (talk) 15:41, 5 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Orphans edit

Thanks for the message. The best way to resolve this issue is to search for other articles where BroadMap may be mentioned and create a Wikilink, rather than creating other articles for the sole purpose of creating incoming links. Another thing to try is to look for articles where a Wikilink back to BroadMap may be appropriate and add one - although I would not suggest peppering other articles with links just to create incoming links. You only need three valid links (redirects don't count nor do pages in any space other than the mainspace). Once you have dealt with the orphan issue you can remove the tag, but please explain in an edit summary and/or on the article's talk page, why you are removing it. The same modus operandi also applies to the other maintenance tags. Hope this helps. – ukexpat (talk) 14:42, 7 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your message -- I think it would be appropriate to add BroadMap to the "See also" section of Geographic information systems and perhaps also to List of geographic information systems software. – ukexpat (talk) 16:42, 9 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (File:BroadMap logo.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading File:BroadMap logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:22, 11 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
