Retzawl, Assam edit

Please stop moving this about. I have tidied up behind you. The village is now at a decent name, and redirects have been set up so the alternative names may be found. Moving things around a lot causes chaos. Please, next time, have a plan in mind before starting out. We can fix anything, but it just creates work. Fiddle Faddle 09:54, 27 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

I have already asked at the relevant noticeboard that an administrator considers your actions. Talking to me or others is unlikely to prevent any decision that they may make, but it may assist them in coming to a decision.
Unfortunately you seem to have decided to carry on against almost all the advice you have been given. There comes a point when even the most relaxed giver of advice thinks about giving up. I am very close to that point with you.
Please think carefully about what you want to happen next. You are choosing to make an admin prevent you from making edits because they are likely to consider your edits to be troublesome. Do you want that to happen? Fiddle Faddle 13:42, 27 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

November 2015 yet again edit

This is way past your only warning; you have moved a page maliciously again, at Retzawl, Assam, and have only just been unblocked so you may be blocked from editing without further notice. This is truly enough. You are heading towards another block. You have made no effort to engage with anyone despite multiple efforts. You may not continue to move pages to the titles you consider to be correct. Your titles are against page naming conventions are these moves are considered to be vandalism after you have received the number of warnings that you have. Fiddle Faddle 17:00, 29 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

You must engage in conversation with editors here. Failure to do so is not considered helpful. I have tried, and tried and tried to get your attention and to get you to co-operate. Please understand that Wikipedia is a place of collaboration. Your duty is to collaborate. Fiddle Faddle 17:13, 29 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
The thing you will face is longer and longer blocks from editing. These will be to prevent your edits from causing disruption. At present, whether you mean to or not, they are disruptive. It is an accepted principle of Wikipedia that we try very hard to talk to new editors to help them to understand how we work. The problem happens when the editor refuses to talk to us. You are, so far, refusing to talk to us.
Eventually your right to edit Wikipedia will be revoked. This is because we require editors to demonstrate competence, not just in editing, but in being a true part of the community. Failure to do this means that, with regret, your invitation to the party will be withdrawn. This will be 100% your choice.
Please talk to us. You can do that here, now, on your own talk page. Please start to talk. Fiddle Faddle 17:37, 29 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
  • Hi. I'm Boing! said Zebedee, an admin here at the English Wikipedia, and I see you have been having a few problems following various policies and conventions here, and you seem to have got into a few scrapes. Your intentions clearly appear to be constructive, but you keep doing things in ways that are contrary to Wikipedia's standards (like the Manual of Style, for example, and our minimum standards for the creation of articles). If such problems continue, you might even find yourself blocked from editing, and I wouldn't like that to happen to you. So please, if someone gives you a message or warning that you do not understand, please ask them to explain further (or pop over to my talk page and ask me - I'm always happy to help), but do not just ignore them and carry on with the same actions that caused the problem in the first place. Fiddle Faddle is very helpful with new editors, and he would be happy to help you. And, as I say, I'm here to help too, so please do not hesitate to come and ask one of us for help when you need it. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 18:01, 29 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
I'd just like to add that I've had a read of the Retzawl, Assam article you created, and it's pretty good - it's way better than most of our articles about villages in India. Early versions of articles almost always need a bit more work to get them up to Wikipedia conventions, so I hope you can regard those maintenance tags as suggestions for how to make it even better rather than as any kind of criticism, because that is how they are intended. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 18:12, 29 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

A few words of advice edit

I suggest that until you have much more experience of editing it would be a good idea not to move any pages, and not to create any redirects. I am sure that you have been trying to do constructive things, but I'm afraid you haven't yet really understood what is suitable. I hope that after you have been editing for a while you will have a better idea of what is acceptable. We all make mistakes at first; when I started editing I made some mistakes which now look ridiculous to me. Also, titles of articles should not be in quotes: for example, we have an article Africa, not an article "Africa". • A number of us have been trying to help you to understand what you have been doing wrong, but you have ignored us and continued to make problematic moves to incorrect titles, and you are creating an increasing workload for those cleaning up after you. This is a short block to prevent the disruption you are causing, and I will lift it as soon as you start talking and agree to stop your page moves. But please be aware that if you continue with the same problematic actions once the block expires, I (or another admin) will block this account again. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 13:16, 30 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
  • Let me explain to you, Lallienzuol hmar, what happens in cases like this.
When an editor does the same thing again as soon as their block expires, We, the folk who try very hard to help, get exasperated. Not angry, but exasperated. We wonder why they are not hearing us; we wonder why they are not communicating with us.
Sometimes we wonder if English is the right language to use. But we speak English. This is the English Language Wikipedia. Business here is conducted in English
We know that you are an editor who is intelligent. You added Lallienzuol Hmar as the name of the second headmaster of a school in Retzawl. Headmasters are intelligent people. But they are also used to being obeyed without question.
In Wikipedia that does not happen.
In Wikipedia you and I are equals. I will not obey you, you will not obey me. Instead we discuss things and reach agreement, often with the input of others. We call this consensus.
There is already a consensus on article titles. You did not know this at first. You know this now. You must obey that consensus. This is not because I say so, or because another editor says so. It is because we all say so, even if there are a few exceptions.
So what happens now?
You have a choice:
  1. Talk to us, and learn from us. Learn about consensus, and enjoy being an editor here.
  2. Ignore us and continue as you have started.
Choose number 1 and you have an absorbing hobby, you get the chance to enjoy Wikipedia
Choose number 2 and, very shortly, the block to prevent the messes you are causing will become very long, perhaps indefinite. Indefinite means "without defined end" though it may end if you agree to work properly here as colleague, and to obey the rules.
Please choose number 1 Fiddle Faddle 19:17, 30 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
What a shame. I see you have chosen route number 2, and I am pinging Boing! said Zebedee to alert them to your persistent vandalism. Be aware that we are not stupid, and that we watch what people do here. I'm sorry you have decided not to participate in editing Wikipedia for the moment, and I am certain administrators will be here quite soon to implement your decision. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by first reading the guide to appealing blocks, then adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 13:29, 2 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

I am sorry that you have chosen not to listen, but your continued disruption can not be tolerated any longer. Please note that an indefinite block need not be for ever, and if you do finally start communicating with us and listen to those who are only trying to help you, the block can still be lifted. But as it stands, you cannot be allowed to continue to edit in the way you are doing. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 13:36, 2 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

Do you want to be able to edit Wikipedia again? edit

Under very controlled circumstances you may. But do not be tempted to try to circumvent this block by any means. We are wise to all those mechanisms and that will result in there being very little hope of this block ever being lifted.

If you want to edit here you may appeal the block. You have to make a binding commitment not to do the things you have been blocked for. I am not going to tell you what those are. You need to acknowledge what they are.

This block is not a punishment. It is to prevent your doing again what you have done so often in the past. Fiddle Faddle 13:39, 2 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

And clearing up behind your undiscussed moves, where you have moved the same article again and again against consensus, has taken up far too much time. Emotionally I would leave you blocked for a long time. Intellectually, if you will commit to working here correctly I will support your being unblocked Fiddle Faddle 13:58, 2 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
