Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of username and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page.

Request reason:

I don't get paid for editing and creating articles and I understand that I will not make any type of edits which violate the policies of Wikipedia. This is my first time creating an articles in Wikipedia and Hence I hope I will be pardoned for my mistake and I kindly request you not to delete the article as well. I will make it a point to edit it according to the guidelines. I will contribute generously to the community by creating new articles, making appropriate edits, and useful factual corrections where and when it is necessary. Thanks in advance. Ladli wi (talk) 14:54, 29 November 2022 (UTC)

Accept reason:

I share Deb's concerns, but I think the best way to find out is to give you another chance. One of the first things that you do must be-despite the fact you won't be editing about the Foundation- to make the required paid editing disclosure on your user page; if you fail to do this, you will be reblocked. I stress that unpaid interns count as "paid" editors. I would also suggest using the new user tutorial. 331dot (talk) 11:02, 5 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

What is your relationship with the organization? 331dot (talk) 16:11, 29 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

I am an unpaid winter intern who joined for the partial fullfilment of my academic credits whose task is to create a Wikipedia page for the non-profit organization named Ladli Foundation Trust. I swear that this task is not intended for any promotional activities or any kind of spamming. Ladli wi (talk) 09:54, 30 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
Okay. Under our rules, unpaid interns count as "paid" editors, because you are being compensated with the experience of the work(and you furthermore state you are getting academic credits), so you will need to declare as a paid editor per WP:PAID. Please also review conflict of interest. Are there any topics unrelated to your organization that you are intersted in editing about? I'm not prepared to unblock you to edit, in the near term, about your organization.
Please understand(and feel free to show this message to your superiors) that Wikipedia is not a place for organizations to tell the world about themselves and what they do. That is considered promotional here, even if you are not soliciting customers or selling something. A Wikipedia article about an organization must summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about the organization, showing how it meets the special Wikipedia definition of a notable organization. Wikipedia is not interested in what an organization says about itself(be it directly or through press releases, staff interviews, announcements of routine activities, brief mentions, etc.), only in what others completely unconnected with the organization choose on their own to say about it. 331dot (talk) 10:31, 30 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
I would furthermore add that it is extremely unfair to you as a student to require you to create a Wikipedia article for academic credit, as you have limited control over the process and are under pressure to work to get the credits. Your instructor/teacher should review the Wikipedia Education Program materials to learn how they can design lessons incorporating Wikipedia without requiring students to create a new article- the most challenging task on Wikipedia. 331dot (talk) 10:33, 30 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
I would like to clarify that my academic institution is not requiring me to create a Wikipedia page but rather it is the non-profit organization which asked me to prepare a draft for a Wikipedia page for their organization. It is to be noted that preparing a content which is impartial and unbiased and providing a draft for a non-profit organization is not an uncommon task assigned to winter interns in India. I am doing this task in good faith and I am ready to make the article which is notable and encyclopedic enough to be hosted in Wikipedia's directory. I request you a last chance to demonstrate my integrity. Ladli wi (talk) 10:59, 30 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
If this is common in India, I wish it weren't, to be honest. This isn't a directory, this is an encyclopedia- where mere existence does not warrant inclusion, there are criteria, as I state above. I don't usually do this, but please tell what your three best independent reliable sources are for a theoretical draft about your organization. These cannot be interviews with organization personnel, announcements of its activities, or any other materials associated with the organization. 331dot (talk) 11:08, 30 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Ladli wi, I sympathize with your situation. You were unfairly directed to do a job that your superiors should never have given you in the first place. A lot of companies/organizations don't seem to realize that they are not entitled to have articles on Wikipedia just because they exist or are worthy causes. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 14:45, 30 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • The sources can be described as
  1. a description of an activity of the organization
  2. another description of an activity of the organization; it also lacks a named byline(just "community reporter") which suggests a form of promotion
  3. the website of the organization, which is not independent
  4. I cannot examine due to a paywall
  5. is only partially about the organization, and that part is an interview with the founder, which is not independent
  6. is mostly about a worker for the organization rather than the organization itself, and is partially an interview with her, which is not independent
  7. briefly describes an activity of the organization
  8. briefly quotes the founder of the organization
  9. a simple directory listing
  10. another directory listing
  11. a brief mention with a quote from the founder of the organization
  12. my browser didn't want to visit this link
  13. a story about the organization receiving an award from the Indian government. This is probably the best source out of all of them.
  14. describes an activity of the organization and interviews its founder.
Most of these sources do not establish notability. The best one is the one about the award from the Indian government, but that is not enough to sustain an article. I would submit that the organization does not merit an article at this time. Feel free to show this to your superiors at the organization, who have given you an impossible task. Is there anything you want to edit about other than your organization? 331dot (talk) 22:11, 30 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thank you. I will convey the same to my superiors. And I would like to continue with this account as a normal contributor in the sense that I will be in a position to edit articles which I find deserving to be edited. Ladli wi (talk) 07:34, 1 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
Are there any particular topic areas in which you might edit articles? 331dot (talk) 15:57, 1 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
No. There aren't any particular topic areas for me as of now. I am new to Wikipedia editing and I think I better take time to explore editing various articles, starting from scratch. Ladli wi (talk) 18:46, 4 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • Deb I'd appreciate any thoughts you have on this, so I can resolve it. Thanks 331dot (talk) 19:00, 4 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
"whose task is to create a Wikipedia page for the non-profit organization named Ladli Foundation Trust" clearly indicates a conflict of interest that has to be declared. Somehow I'm doubting that it's going to be easy for this inexperienced contributor to fulfil the NPOV obligation. They need to make sure to use draft but I have no specific objection to them having another go. Deb (talk) 09:23, 5 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing because your account is being used only for advertising or promotion.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  331dot (talk) 14:44, 5 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

I unblocked you on the condition that you wouldn't edit about your organization, at least for now, and you said you would edit about other topics, and the first thing you edit about is your organization. You did declare the paid relationship, but this is not a license to edit about the organization. 331dot (talk) 14:45, 5 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

What's the whole problem in writing about the organization which has notable media coverage? Did you check the number of references and plagiarism percentage that I have covered in creating this article? Tamfreud (talk) 14:49, 5 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
That doesn't matter; I unblocked you on the basis of you saying you would edit about other topics after I explained to you how your organization did not merit an article. Very disappointing. 331dot (talk) 14:51, 5 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
Oh please. Kindly go through the new draft and assess the quality of the article before coming to any conclusions. I am disappointed as well for my inability to convince you that I am NOT PROMOTING Ladli Foundation Trust in any manner. Please understand my situation. Hello, Tamfreud. Thank you for helping to build Wikipedia-- the world's largest free content encyclopedia. The page Draft:Ladli Foundation Trust has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seemed to be unambiguous advertising which only promoted a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to have been fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

This article needs to be rewritten from scratch from reliable, third party sources unconnected to the subject. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. It is not an outlet for promotion, advocacy, or advertising.

Information on content and common pitfalls to avoid can be located here and here, however be aware that this is not an exhaustive list. Pages can sometimes avoid these pitfalls and still be seen as an ad copy or unambiguously promotional, particularly if the editor appears to be a paid editor or has some other conflict of interest. Please review these policies, including the FAQ page on organizations to determine if this applies to you.

Common mistakes or beliefs about promotional editing center on the assumption that promotional editing only applies to promotion for commercial gain. Some tags or G11 nominations are met with confusion by creators, particularly if they spend much time reading or creating corporate documents, mission/vision statements, or similar copy for their organization. The frequent exposure to promotional tone may make it difficult to notice non-neutral phrases or styles, as the editor has grown accustomed to seeing it as everyday writing or speech. This can be difficult, but not impossible, to unlearn.

Another common assumption is that the prohibition against promotional editing applies only to businesses or organizations. Anything can be promoted, including a person, a non-commercial organization, a point of view, etc. and CV/resumé's are by their nature promotional.

Wikipedia is an encyclopedia-- subjects must meet notability guidelines with reliable sources that are unconnected with the subject and providing verifiable information. That generally means someone unconnected with the subject needs to have written a great deal about the subject. Please see this page on citing sources. This page has templates you can use in citing your sources. Place the template {{Reflist}} at the bottom of the page, and references cited in the text will appear there. New article creation can be difficult, but the Article Wizard can help you. The new user tutorial can help you avoid future problems. You can also ask for help at the TEAHOUSE and on IRC chat.

New article creation can be difficult and frustrating. Sometimes it is better to first gain experience by fixing and helping maintain existing articles. Wikipedia:Community portal/Opentask contains links to things that badly need doing, if you are so inclined. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 17:31, 5 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
