Speedy deletion nomination of User:Kurtztay123/sandbox

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on User:Kurtztay123/sandbox, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Hello, Kurtztay123. Thank you for helping to build Wikipedia-- the world's largest free content encyclopedia. I'm sorry, but  User:Kurtztay123/sandbox has been deleted as meeting WP:CSD#G11. "This applies to pages that are exclusively promotional and would need to be fundamentally rewritten to conform with Wikipedia:NOTFORPROMOTION." These must be rewritten from scratch from "reliable, third party sources unconnected to the subject." See WP:RS.

Wikipedia:Identifying blatant advertising#Typical signs of blatant advertising contains information about content to avoid. For more information on content that may be perceived as promotional, click User:Dlohcierekim/promo. These are just rough guides. Pages can avoid all those pitfalls and still be glaringly obvious ad copy. Sometimes pages meeting WP:CSD#G11 give the appearance of an editor violating Wikipedia:Conflict of interest or WP:PAID. Please read and heed them if they apply to you. Please read Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations.

Wikipedia is an encyclopedia-- subjects must meet notability guidelines with reliable sources that are unconnected with the subject and providing verifiable information. That generally means someone unconnected with the subject needs to have written a great deal about the subject. Please see Wikipedia:Citing sources . Template:cite has templates you can use in citing your sources. Place the template {{references}} at the bottom of the page, and references cited in the text will appear there.

If you want to try again, please use the Article Wizard or articles for creation to guide you through the creation process. The new user tutorial can help you avoid future problems.

You may find this tool useful: Google custom search Don't feel discouraged. My first attempts at creating articles were deleted too.

There is more information at Wikipedia:Community portal. There is help available at THE TEAHOUSE. Cheers, and happy editing. -- Dlohcierekim (talk) 17:19, 13 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Ways to improve Thomas Pyzdek

edit

Hello, Kurtztay123,

Thanks for creating Thomas Pyzdek! I edit here too, under the username Rosguill and it's nice to meet you :-)

I wanted to let you know that I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:-

A Google Scholar search would strongly suggest that Pyzdek meets the subject-specific notability guideline for academics, but the sourcing for the article itself remains a bit spotty, relying on primary sources such as Amazon listings and press releases. Please provide more citations to coverage in reliable, independent sources.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Rosguill}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.

Managing a conflict of interest

edit

  Hello, Kurtztay123. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Thomas Pyzdek, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the COI guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. I am placing this notice because you have claimed multiple photos of Pyzdek, including at least one that is several decades old, as your own work, which would suggest that it is highly likely that you have some sort of personal connection to the subject. signed, Rosguill talk 22:13, 15 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Can you help me by clarifying? I cited 2 sources, one was Get My Mississippi Card, who I reached out to and got permission and was simply using them as a source for qualifying conditions for the Mississippi medical marijuana card. The second source was the Mississippi Medical Marijuana Program's government site, which is public info and solely stating what conditions qualify. I am struggling to understand how this is any sort of violation or what I can do differently? On this page, it's key to inform people that not everyone qualifies, and only those with certain medical conditions. That's arguably the most important part of Mississippi's medical marijuana program (aside from it's existence) and I was surprised it wasn't already included as the page doesn't contain much value for those looking to join the program. Any clarification or advice would be greatly appreciated. Kurtztay123 (talk) 12:20, 21 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
The place where I found the matching content is this page, which is marked at the bottom as "© 2024 MSDH. All Rights Reserved." The source webpage is copyright, which means we can't copy from it. You say you got permission to copy from their website. If so, we can't just take your word for it; need to have documentation. Wikipedia has procedures in place for this purpose. Please see WP:Donating copyrighted materials for an explanation of how to do it. There's a sample permission email at WP:Consent.
You did inform people that some specific medical conditions qualify. There's no need to list them all, as interested people can look at the source webpage to find out what they are. — Diannaa (talk) 13:15, 21 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
I understand. This is the page I was given approval for, which does not appear to be copyrighted: https://getmymississippicard.com/conditions/
Would this be acceptable? Otherwise I will get a consent email. In that event, where/how would I provide the email? Kurtztay123 (talk) 14:21, 21 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
The page you say does not appear to be copyright is indeed copyright; it is marked at the bottom as "© 2024 TruReleaf MD | All rights Reserved " — Diannaa (talk) 14:42, 22 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
