Vandal tags
editThank you for reverting vandalism on Wikipedia!
Be sure to put warning tags on the vandal's user talk page (such as {{subst:test}}
, {{subst:test2}}
, {{subst:test3}}
, {{subst:test4}}
). Add each of these tags on the vandal's talk page, in sequential order, after each instance of vandalism. Adding warnings to the talk page assists administrators in determining whether or not the user should be blocked. If the user continues to vandalize pages after you add the {{subst:test4}}
tag, request administrator assistance at Request for Intervention. Again, thank you for helping to make Wikipedia better. The same goes for adding speedy deletion tags, please inform people of them. Thanks! --Lijnema 13:31, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
- If an edit is not playing around but a very clear instance of vandalism (e.g. insulting language or similar) the subst:test code may be replaced with
{{subst:blatantvandal}}
; this will render a heavier first warning. Be careful not to use this when an edit seems to be a general (misinformed) try-out of Wiki functionality though. Arnoutf 19:08, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
I removed the speedy tag that you placed on Tom Minton. In my view, the article demonstrates that Tom Minton is notable. --TruthbringerToronto (Talk | contribs) 01:24, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
Haha, I got an edit conflict with you while I was tagging it for the exact same thing. Great minds think alike eh? See you round. James086 Talk | Contribs 13:21, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, indeed :) Thanks for helping out! --Kon-Tiki001 13:23, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
- Hi there. I think you got it wrong. I was the one who initially put the "db-ad"" tag there. But it's good to see that there are many out there helping out to get rid of all the spam and nonsense.
--Kon-Tiki001 13:34, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
- Very sorry, I clicked on the wrong button! Removed the warning accordingly. See what I get for editing without coffee? Seraphimblade 13:37, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
- No problem! Seems like the user has also vandalised the Wikipedia:Introduction-page recently, could you sort it out. I'm fairly new to this and I don't have admin priviledes. --Kon-Tiki001 13:41, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry, my bad. Got it mixed up. This is the result of too much coffee :) --Kon-Tiki001 13:43, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
- Two mixups make a reasonable amount of caffeine then...or something to that effect? Anyway you seem to have noticed, but users are given pretty wide latitude on playing with the "Introduction" page (as it encourages them to do so), similar to the sandbox. Hi there, great anti-vandal work!
editI've seen some of your work on things like Techno geeks, and I'm amazed and overjoyed at seeing such a new users get into anti-vandal work. Well done! You've learnt really fast. You might want to consider joining the Recent Changes Patrol or Counter-Vandalism Unit. Even if you don't join, those pages list some really useful tools for fighting vandalism - things like lists of templates, quick reference for deletion criteria, and extra buttons you can make appear next to the 'history' one for quick deletion nominations etc. And by the way, I suggest you create a User page sometime soon - tell people a bit about yourself, so they don't think you're a newbie. —Vanderdecken∴ ∫ξφ 15:20, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks for your kind words. I'll check out the pages you recommended (Recent Changes Patrol &Counter-Vandalism Unit)
Thanks for your help! --Kon-Tiki001 12:41, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
- Hey, thanks for warning the people whose articles I tagged - but don't worry, I was just about to warn them - I keep getting edit conflicts. :) Good work! riana_dzasta 12:36, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

editHello Kon-Tiki001,
I am trying to make it informational, not advertising. I was throwing it out there for people to mold it into an encylopedia article.
- Hi, that's okay, but to me it looked like an article not written from a neutral point of view. I had a look at the website and to me your info looked like advertisement. Rewrite the article and try again. Good luck. --Kon-Tiki001 15:19, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
Hi. The speedy deletion tag you placed on this new article has gone instead to a debate about deletion. I doubt that you need any helpful pointers :) but, just in case, that article did mention he had a "title" Sangeetha Kalanidhi - and, I know, it wasn't linked at first - so some people would say that was an assertion of notability against WP:BIO. --Mereda 18:16, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks for the update :) --Kon-Tiki001 10:23, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
Hi Kon-Tiki001
hope you'll consider the entry as at least a stub of an encyclopedia article. i've tried to make it factual and neutral, and to provide sources... thanks! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Dj cripple (talk • contribs) 18:55, 19 December 2006 (UTC).
Re : Personal attacks as in Chris Helland
editGreat idea, I will start to use this template as well. Such attacks shan't be tolerated on Wikipedia. Good job :-). Happy editing - Myanw 09:33, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
Hello
editI intend to start articles for the 13 games Data Design announced for the Wii (all of which have been released only in Europe for the PS2 and/or PC). Since games released in Europe-only do not get much press coverage (and I don't live in Europe), I will only be able to do so much for them. Hopefully others will be able to expand them. TJ Spyke 09:22, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
- I'm not trying to help them, it's just that commercially released video games are usually considered notable and they didn't have articles yet. BTW, I sent the webmaster of their site the standard e-mail asking to give permission for their text and images and got a reply, how can I show proof of this? TJ Spyke 22:01, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
Attacks of Other Editors?
editOn Feb 27th you accused me of attacks on an editor, this is not the case as I was trying to create an article about the child that has been in the news (refrence: http://edition.cnn.com/2007/HEALTH/02/26/obese.child.reut/index.html ) so if you would be so kind you can remove that statement from my page as it was not an attack of any kind, merely a news article k thanks bye. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by TehPhil (talk • contribs) 16:26, 1 March 2007 (UTC).
- Done. Sorry about that, edite removed. Remember to sign your comments. Kon-Tiki001 16:58, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
Hey, sorry about not including more relevant data, I was a bit rushed for time. ^^; Okay, reasons Victim Effect should not be deleted:
- Preformed at "Taste of Chaos" 2007, Feb 28th
- Have been placed on rotation by "The Blaze"
Once again, I'm really sorry about that. As you can see, I'm not very good at writing articles. ^.^

Autobiographies
editHello, Kon Tiki,
I found your "words of advice" on my own talk page. Thank you. Yes, I have created an article about myself, knowing this is an exception to the rule. Yet I considered the article justifiable, since I have trained a number of world-famous musicians. (I am normally a quiet, "behind the scenes" kind of guy, but thought it was time to speak up for myself!)
I have endeavored to avoid anything which smacks of "self-promotion" or spam, but tried to provide FACTUAL information. I am NOT rich or famous; neither have a provided a link to my own website. Nonetheless, the role I have played in today's music scene is fairly significant, having trained such musicians as Greg Wells, Erin Leahy, Jonah Cristall-Clarke, and numerous other internationally successful artists, particularly in helping to cultivate their own, unique styles. However, I have tried to refrain from "ego trips", such as reference to various important awards, and a chain of newspaper reviews. (IT'S NOT ABOUT ME...IT'S ABOUT MUSIC!)
Although I am not "rich and famous", I am quite well-known in the Canadian music scene. I am also sincerely hoping that some of the links I have provided will draw attention to other notable musicians, and eventually lead to Wikipedia articles about them. (For example, Agnes Logan-Green, a WORLD-CLASS concert pianist, about whom I would love to contribute an Article!)
So I am asking...please let my article stand for now. (It may well qualify as an exception to the general principal of autobiographies being strongly discouraged.)
Incidentally, I can assure you that links from my article to other Wikipedia articles will grow, and links from other Wikipedia articles to my page will also grow.
Regards, Fredrick Pritchard Prof.rick 03:02, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks for your comments. Your article is probably an exception to the rule, and should in my opinion be allowed to stay. It's just that I feel that wikipedia lately has grown into a showcase and an advertisement board, way too many are trying to use wikipedia as a means to promote themself, their band, their books etc etc. I was probably a bit took quick on labeling your page as such. Keep up the good work! Kon-Tiki001 09:16, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks! I agree, wikipedia is frequently misused, and its reputation must be protected. I fully understand your cautionary note, and consider measures of protection essential to the integrity of the encyclopedia. I share your concerns about possible "billboard" pages, and also the many pages which present historic and scientific speculation as though it were fact.
- If you have any suggestions on how I might assist in the "policing" of wikipedia, please let me know. (And YOU keep up the good work!) Prof.rick 07:18, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
Fredrick Pritchard
editHi,
As you may recall, you had posted the article Fredrick Pritchard for possible deletion. After some discussion, you expressed the view that the article should be kept.
Since then, another warning has been posted. As a result, I have rewritten the article, condensing it, and providing references, in the hopes of gaining the support of other editors. Your support would be greatly appreciated. If you go to Articles for deletion, then from the Contents choose "Current discussion", and from there, click on March 10...from the Contents, click item 84.
Here you can express a "vote", to Delete or Keep.
You might want to check out the Article again, and it's talk page, since the rewriting.
Thanks for your time and attention. Cheers, Prof.rick 00:20, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
- Hi, I'll check into it a little later. Busy with other stuff at the momment. Regards, Kon-Tiki001 16:19, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
The Escher Cycle
editHi Kon-Tiki001,
You left a comment for me on The Escher Cycle page, saying it was advertising.
I am new to Wikipedia. I do not quite know how to create articles etc.
My intention is to make people aware of the book, which explains the process by which the universe works, much in the way that Darwin explained Natural Selection in his book On The Origin of Species.
The Escher Cycle explains a New form of natural selection, between species. And it shows how the same mechanisms drive business competitiveness. As such, to me it is a subject worthy of Wikipedia.

editPS If you can advise how I could treat this subject differently to make it appropriate for Wikipedia I would very much appreciate it.
Many thanks, Finn Jackson Finn Jackson 15:50, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
Why you do that?
editHello I wish to ask about the tag you put on my article about "Sixx John". After reading an article about Fort Minor on Wikipedia i found that one song that was mentioned did not have a contributing artist that i found upon the Cd. I added the contributing artist on and i wrote the article upon the artist but yet you deleted it. Now i did as you also offered and put the name down into the list that enables others to create the article but why request was deleted. Now what i wish to know is why has both my article and request been deleted from Wikipedia and yet it is written upon the offical Fort Minor Cd and Wesite as well as My Space? Rupert 59,

Nemi Ships/ Rex
editHi Kon-Tiki001, I noticed you were discussing edits on the Nemi Ship artilce by Rex Germanus on his webpage. Don't get me wrong, your comments seem well-informed and very reasonable. However, I think these comments should be placed on the discussion page of the Nemi Ships article. For a very good reason. Discussing this on the Nemi Ship page will provide an archive for arguments for the current revision. In other words if the talk page achieves consensus this will probably stop other editors to make a similar change as the counter-arguments are in the open for any interested edirtor. Furthermore, if editors change the article anyway a prior discussion with consensus achieved is generally seen as a strong argument to restore the older version (wihtout the to rediscuss it all). Hence it is general practice to put article specific discussion (as the Nemi ship issue seems to be) on the talk page of the article and not on personal talk pages. best wishes Arnoutf 19:04, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
- Hi Arnoutf. Thanks for your suggestion. I'm fairly new to this and I'm still learning. I'll move the discussion to the talk page ASAP. Kon-Tiki001 19:45, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of User talk:Lvigent1
editA tag has been placed on User talk:Lvigent1 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia.
