Managing a conflict of interest

edit

Hello, JordanWaters. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Draft:Tournament Players Club, Colorado, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. DoubleGrazing (talk) 15:02, 17 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Okay I understand that. Then how do we go about the page being approved. We are the only TPC no on Wikipedia it seems. JordanWaters (talk) 15:09, 17 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Two things

edit

Hi, in response to your various questions above, I'm collating the answers here. There are two things you must address:

  1. You need to declare any conflict of interest (COI), which judging by your user page and the article draft edit notes you have, but which hasn't been declared properly. Please see the instructions in the 'Managing a conflict of interest' section above for how to do this. Furthermore:
    1. Please note that you must additionally declare if (as I assume is the case) you are being paid to edit this article, as these two matters (COI and paid editing) are separate, albeit often connected. Please do not edit further before addressing this issue.
    2. In editing the article, take extra care not to use promotional or WP:PEACOCK language. Stick to neutral POV, modest tone, and factual expressions.
    3. Do not be tempted to move the draft into the main article space yourself.
  2. The reason why I declined the article is that notability (see WP:N) has not been established in the light of the sources cited. Please study carefully the guidelines at WP:GNG, which explain what sort of sources are needed — in short, they must be independent, reliable, and secondary, and provide significant coverage (not just passing mentions etc.) of the article subject (not just indirectly related matters). And if such sources cannot be found, then the subject probably isn't notable enough. Notability is a fundamental requirement for inclusion on Wikipedia, and until that has been established the draft cannot be accepted.

As previously advised, your edits give the impression you have a financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. You were asked to cease editing until you responded by either stating that you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits, or by complying with the mandatory requirements under the Wikimedia Terms of Use that you disclose your employer, client and affiliation. Again, you can post such a disclosure on your user page at User:JordanWaters, and the template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=JordanWaters|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. Please respond before making any other edits to Wikipedia. If you are the marketing coordinator for the golf course, that is considered paid editing. You do not have to be specifically paid to edit. 331dot (talk) 22:40, 22 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Are you able to review the page for changes and publishing? JordanWaters (talk) 16:23, 23 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
You are welcome to resubmit the draft. You keep attempting to add a notice intended for user pages(such as yours, User:JordanWaters) on the draft, please do not do this. You may declare your COI on the draft talk page, Draft talk:Tournament Players Club, Colorado. Please read WP:COI for information on how to do that. If you find the coding too complicated(many do, nothing wrong with that), you may simply write a statement detailing your COI and paid status. 331dot (talk) 16:27, 23 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
I changed on the draft itself to the {{connected contributor}} coding and on my talk page added both the {{connected contributor}} and {{UserboxCOI}}. I'm not new to coding just so confused my reading the WP:COI page when it states "If you become involved in an article where you have any COI, you should always let other editors know about it, whenever and wherever you discuss the topic." Just trying to put it all out there so I can hopefully get this published. JordanWaters (talk) 16:34, 23 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
