License tagging for Image:Jonforemanfall.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Jonforemanfall.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --OrphanBot 17:07, 13 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Happy Is a Yuppie Word edit

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Happy Is a Yuppie Word, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.brokenmasterpieces.com/archives/001754.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:05.5 Dirty Second Hands - Single (Large).jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:05.5 Dirty Second Hands - Single (Large).jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 20:10, 21 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

AfD nomination of Happy Is a Yuppie Word edit

An editor has nominated Happy Is a Yuppie Word, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Happy Is a Yuppie Word and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 16:29, 6 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi! I deleted this article because this is the consensus reached after editors responded to the deletion request. I take a narrow view of the administrator role and rely on the community to discuss the issues involved. If you wish to contest the deletion, you can take the matter to WP:Deletion review. Orphaned non-free media (Image:04 Stars - Single.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:04 Stars - Single.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Appetite for Construction Tour edit

Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Appetite for Construction Tour, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. We both know that those songs are not singles, and never have been. As such there is no reason to be including these songs in charts and the like, and to be honest the songs probably don't even deserve to have articles as per WP:MUSIC. Redirect of Betrayal (Album) edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Betrayal (Album), by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Betrayal (Album) is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Betrayal (Album), please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Image source problem with Image:03 Learning to Breathe.jpg edit

Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:03 Learning to Breathe.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 20:58, 1 September 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Undead Warrior (talk) 20:58, 1 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Image copyright problem with Image:Lowercasepeople.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Lowercasepeople.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:FFalbumcover.jpg} edit

Thank you for uploading Image:FFalbumcover.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. 's edit

I can't leave a big enough comment in an edit summary. Believe me, I know this rule. The 's turns into an apostrophe alone only after a plural.

  • What is the name of Kevin Williams's dog? (singular possessive)
  • Did you invite the Williamses? (plural, no possessive)
  • What is the color of the Williamses' house? (plural possessive)

Image copyright problem with File:Limbsandbranches.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Limbsandbranches.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

lowercase people edit

First, you should know that such actions could, conceivably, qualify as WP:Vandalism. Second, may I ask, what do see is accomplished by the removal of the banner? I ask this honestly, because, frankly, I can see absolutely no purpose being served by your doing so. In fact, given that you have seemingly done so more than once, it could be seen that you have WP:OWN difficulties with this article. I will grant you that, at present, the article could be a lot clearer, and could greatly benefit from more frequent reference citations. One of the purposes of placing the banner is to let the related project, and, for that matter, the rest of wikipedia, know the article exists, and to at least potentially draw additional editors to improve it, possibly to GA or FA status. If you can think of other projects which would be applicable, please feel free to add their banners as well. After all, no project can be seen to own an article any more than any individual editor can, as per WP:OWN.

I am now restoring the banner so that the project knows the article exists, as I am perfectly entitled to do by wikipedia policies and guidelines. I regret to say that, should you continue to act in the unilateral way you have now done seemingly more than once, the only thing that might arise from your doing so is some sort of disciplinary sanction. For what it's worth, having the article bannerized with the project's banner also places it on the article alert list, so that we know to send editors to it should any problems arise. I very sincerely urge you to not act in the apparently "owning" way you have now done more than once, or, if you insist on doing so, to alter the article's categorization so it doesn't clearly fall within the scope of the project. Thank you. John Carter (talk) 18:59, 1 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Understood. I assumed you were the one who categorized it as such. The downside is every article has to be categorized for anyone to know its out there. If you don't think it honestly belongs in that category, then feel free to change it to some other category. Also, if you honestly feel that the article fits better into the scope of some other project, most of which can be found at WP:PROJDIR, by all means add their banner as well. I don't want to "own" the article anymore than anyone else, but it is more or less incumbent on someone to find some group of editors, which generally means WikiProject, who is willing to help maintain the article. Vandalism of all kinds happens a lot, believe me. I think I personally have reverted obvious vandalism on Martin Luther ten times myself, not counting all the other editors who have also done so. By all means feel free to add the article to as many categories as you wish, provided that they aren't parent/child categories of each other (like, for instance, Category:People from Chicago and Category:People from Illinois, in which event you need add only the most specific one). Proposed deletion of Vice Verses edit

The article Vice Verses has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. Speedy deletion nomination of Always (Switchfoot song) edit

A tag has been placed on Always (Switchfoot song) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a musical recording which does not indicate why its subject is important or significant, and where the artist's article has never existed, has been deleted or is eligible for deletion itself. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for music.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. November 2009 edit

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Switchfoot. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period. Additionally, users who perform several reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. When in dispute with another editor you should first try to discuss controversial changes to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. Should that prove unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. Please stop the disruption, otherwise you may be blocked from editing. Ἀλήθεια 22:31, 18 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Vice Verses edit

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Vice Verses, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://wikibin.org/articles/vice-verses-2.html.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. Vice Verses edit

I took a look at this article and saw lots of repeated references, improper references, and just plain wrong references. Please read Wikipedia:Bombardment,WP:ELNO, and the style guidelines for referencing as I've reduced the size of this article by a little over 25 percent by removing fansites, personal blogs, and naming references. ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
