Speedy deletion nomination of Jay Bown

If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

Autobiographical articles

edit

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions; however, it appears you may have written a Wikipedia article, or a draft for a Wikipedia article, about yourself. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – please see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). If you wish to add to or change an existing article about yourself, you are welcome to propose the changes by visiting the article's talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was the page I created deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss this with the deleting administrator. Thank you. ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 16:24, 21 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Draft:Jay Bowm

edit

There were numerous problems with your article that you put in mainspace at the title Jay Bown, so I have moved it to draft space under what I believe to be the correct spelling of Draft:Jay Bowm. Please, if you think you have addressed the issues, use the articles for creation process rather than moving it back to mainspace yourself. Some of the issues include:

  1. You have only cited one source that is independent of Mr. Bowm. Please see our general notability guidlines and the notability guidelines for artists to get a better idea of what you need to include in the article to demonstrate that Bowm is notable by Wikipedia's standards.
  2. Your username gives the impression that you are Mr. Bowm, and thus have written an autobiography. If you are him, are related to him, or you work for him, you have a conflict of interest and thus should use the AFC process to create the article, and afterwards use the edit request system to request future edits.
  3. The article appears to have been copied almost word for word from Mr. Bowm's website. This is a copyright violation. Assuming that you are Mr. Bowm or own or manage his website and thus own the copyright on the text, you would theoretically be able to donate the text using the procedures described here, however I have already excised a lot of the text as it was overly promotional and not in line with what we are looking for. What remains is still an uncomfortably close paraphrase though, and if you are not willing to take the steps necessary to donate it under a free license it might be better to delete it from here entirely.
  4. Is the last name spelled BowM or BowN? Your username and the title you placed it at use an N, but the website uses an M and more instances in the text were spelled with the M. I have changed all instances in the text to the M spelling and put the draft at a M title, but please confirm the correct spelling.

Those are the main issues with the text. Let me know or ask at the WP:Teahouse if you have questions or need assistance. ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 16:43, 21 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Your draft article, Draft:Jay Bowm

edit

Hello, Jaybown. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Jay Bowm".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been deleted. When you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Liz Read! Talk! 17:05, 21 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
