The Song That Never Ends
editHa ha! Great addition to The Song That Never Ends! My own kids tend to sing that variant as "I know a song that gets on everybody's nerves!/Everybody's nerves, everybody's nerves!/I know a song that gets on everybody's nerves!/And this is how it goes..." Anyway, you now have some idea why I wrote the article! :-) - Scooter 22:18, 29 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Voting Warschau/Warsaw
editHi. Since you have edited on pages with disputes about the names of German/polish locations, I would invite you to vote on Warsaw/Vote to settle the multi-year dozends-of-pages dispute about the naming of Warschau/Warsaw and other locations.--Schlesier 08:38, 4 Apr 2005 (UTC)
I dont think its helpful to put Ita into Category:Brands of beer when the brand isnt even called Ita. I am currently trying to reduce this category as it is full of unimportant stuff anyway - please revert. Justinc 21:00, 14 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- re your comment on my page, I dont think there is any way to make an article appear in a category under another name, except by creating another article. I tried doing this once, and it is not possible... I have been tisying up brands of beer to only include really important ones. Justinc 00:42, 15 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Well, there is a whole chapter dedicated to "The Giant Rats" in The Food of the Gods by H. G. Wells, which can be viewed, for example, at [[1]].
Maybe that doesn't actually matter and is absolutely irrelevant to put in among other connotations, but anyways, it wouldn't clash with Sherlock Holmes, I believe.
If you consider adding this connotation in the article, I would really like it. --Dennis Valeev 18:00, May 13, 2005 (UTC)

Images should go to Commons:
editHello, I've seen that you added a lot of PD images. I wanted to tell you that they're much more useful when you upload them to commons:Wikimedia Commons, because editors of other national wikipedias can use them, too. And you can use them on en: as if they were here. Thank you. Please, reply to my Slovak talk page. File:Helix84.jpg helix84 14:36, 12 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Hello, I just added the first draft of Russian Symbolism, an article you once requested. Please help me to make it better. In particular, I'd like to see more pages linking to this article. Cheers. --Ghirlandajo 22:49, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Question on Dispensationalism article
editI noticed that a user recently added a name to the list of those associated with dispensationalism. He also added a corresponding biography article on this guy. There is nothing noteworthy about this character or what he has done. Is there no criteria to help us here? Would I be an ass for just deleting the reference in the Dispensationalism article? Indiana Wikipedians
editHello! Please consider adding yourself to Category:Indiana Wikipedians. Thanks!
BTW, looks like your talk page could use a bit of refactoringness. I'm on 28.8k dialup and it took me about five minutes to download :D Kurt Weber 7 July 2005 03:02 (UTC)
Thank you for taking care of the copyvio problem at The Fool. I was quasi-mediating between an established user and an anon over it, and since neither of them had followed the copyvio proceedure, I filled in the gaps. I appreciate you getting to the bottom of it. -- Essjay · Talk 17:36, July 12, 2005 (UTC)

Thomas of "Celaeno"
editDo you have some good source for redirecting Thomas of Celano to this odd moniker? I've been unable to find any authority for this anywhere online (other than mirrors of Wikipedia), and I've never seen it in print. Celano in the Abruzzo, his hometown, appears in Antiquity in one or two inscriptions as (the more normal, sound-change-wise) Caelanum, but the name of the place was never Celaeno. In sum, I think you slipped, I'd like to move the article back to the guy's universally used name — but am checking first. Best, Bill 10:43, 17 July 2005 (UTC)
- Gotcha, thanks. Lovecraft! There's always a reason. His Celaeno is one of the Harpies, and properly spelled. Switching around two pages (Celaeno now to be a stub on the Harpy) requires a Wiki-Grand-Boojum to do it, but I'll see to it.... Thanx again, Bill 15:01, 17 July 2005 (UTC)

editThat was an outstanding edit on civic virtue, especially the addition of the Oath of the Horatii on the page. Keep up the outstanding work. Dbraceyrules 23:21, 21 July 2005 (UTC)
Orc Image
editJust a note of thanks for the Orc image. I think it's typical enough, although his expression seems rather genial.
I'm pleased, that my image finds application. :)
Jeah and I know, he dosn't look very grim, but maybe he is a half-orc? In some fantasy-worlds half-orcs can be good. Anyway, in my fantasy-world orcs can be good. (there is no exclusiv definition of what's an orc) ;)

Still interested in Lost Liberty Hotel Article?
editGreetings, Smerdis. I noticed that you previously took an interest in the Lost Liberty Hotel article, enough so that you voted whether or not to keep it. I'm hoping that you'll find the time to stop by and help resolve an ongoing dispute about the new "commentary" section. Thanks for your time and consideration! --OtisTDog 16:39, 7 August 2005 (UTC)
You placed on Talk:Baphomet a call for User:Khaosinfire to provide sources for his claims tha Baphomet was a fertility god and removed the info from the article. He is no placing the same info on the disambiguation page instead and still refuses to source it even though I have left messages on his talk page about it. I'd revert him but I don't want to violate 3RR, not that he cares (or probably knows) about the policy. DreamGuy 00:53, August 23, 2005 (UTC)
Simeon Solomon
editI knew nothing about this painter before yesterday, all that's in the article was gleaned from google searches. I arrived at it because I added his later misdemeanours to Gay cruising in the United Kingdom and then created articles for the redlinks I "created" (I know less about the Bishop of Durham than about art in general). Glad you approve of what I wrote anyway. -- Francs2000 | Talk 20:58, 28 August 2005 (UTC)

practical applications
editOK, this is ancient. But I am rather at a loss to know what could possibly satisfy your wish:
- As a person whose knowledge of mathematics would fit under a dime, with plenty of space to spare, I do wish that some note would be taken in articles such as this about practical applications or the significance of the theorem, if there be any.
Unlike most math articles, this one begins by stating in the very first sentence that what it is used for, and gives an example in detail, and the application of the example to real-world things immediately understood by people who know no mathematics is explicit. Just a few days ago I was looking at a text on probability theory that states the Rao-Blackwell theorem but gives no examples of its use, and thinking that that is deplorable since it's so easy to give a large number of such examples. If this does not satisfy your wish, what do you imagine could do so. Michael Hardy 22:48, 30 September 2005 (UTC)
Brother Maynard
editI'm curious about the 'Brother Maynard' reference you used in Merge/Bible_verses. I think I've heard it before, but can't remember where it's from... Also, is this the appropriate way to ask a question like this? I'm new to Wikipedia, and I didn't see an email address for you... Eaglizard 03:37, 5 October 2005 (UTC)
- It's a reference to "Monty Python and the Holy Grail." And yes, this is how you send a message to another Wikipedian. Smerdis of Tlön 05:10, 5 October 2005 (UTC)
Mufti..........
editI was born and raised Muslim near Al-Azhar, it is mainly a college that chooses college appllicants who have the hieghst grades in the Arabic Language and literature. Reason being is that the Qur'an is still printed in 1500 yr old Arabic. Now the attack isn't much about the Mufti himself but when someone who people call s dictator; Hosni Mubarak tells him to invent reasons why women should take their veil off. I read write and speak as my mother tongue. Now a Fatwa isn't binding, and no Al-Azhar isn't that credible anymore, since poloticians started presseuring Clreics to issue Fatwas to please the donnors of foreign aid. Al-Azhar is no longer respected and I'm glad it is so because it tells lies to please poloticians:

editI have asked a question at Talk:Affect and await your response there.--Commander Keane 23:54, 15 December 2005 (UTC)
Hmm... I read your comment and... do you think this page is for books of hadith? It is for individual hadith which number in the many thousands with many of them being used in many rulings. My issue wasn't notability in the title. The issue, when it primary source text is neutral in a sense... but the context and which hadith apply is all placed by one user picking and choosing the hadith he wants. gren グレン 05:58, 19 December 2005 (UTC)
Reynard and Ysengrimus
editGreat! Better than what I could have done, had I ever gotten around to write it. I have added Morley as an extlink to both articles. Somehow I think we should go into slightly more detail on earlier precursors (Aesop) and the Flandrian adaptation by Willem, as outlined by Morley. I'll also get Norman F. Blake's 1970 edition (plus a 1985 paper of his) from the library, just to check what he has to say on it and whether Morleys comments are still valid. Lupo 11:25, 19 December 2005 (UTC)

Lyke wake dirge
editThanks for the kind words. I wrote the sheet music using "ABC" notation and I have generated a very basic midi file from that, really just to check that it sounds similar to the original. It has the basic note information but nothing more, so would need some work in a proper midi sequencer. I'll send it to you if you let me have an email address. Bluewave 09:07, 15 January 2006 (UTC)
