Help Tip

edit

Being a member of the welcoming committee on Wikipedia I encourage you to help Wikipedia in any way you can to increase human knowledge. No matter how small you may know about a topic, check it out on Wiki, if you find it, add to it or make changes backed with references. If there is no article on that topic, why not start it, with time others will add to it and it may even make the featured articles list. By doing this, I have been able to make over 1300 page edits in both new articles, article improvement etc. Furthermore, I encourage you to aim to be a member of the [confirmed users] as this will greatly improve your Wiki experience. You can do this by making at least 10 edits on Wikipedia and remaining on Wiki for four (4) days. Check out this page for tips.Crosstemplejay 13:08, 17 April 2011 (UTC)

The X Factor

edit

Hello

Please note that I have undone your edit to The X Factor (UK). We do not list guest judges, only the regular judges. Plus there is no need to create a list for "former" judges as it is indicated by the years active that they are no longer an active judge on the show, ie "Simon Cowell (2004-10)" tells us that he left in 2010.

Any questions please do not hesitate to ask me on my talk page, thanks.--5 albert square (talk) 23:18, 23 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

BB Template

edit

Regarding your changes to the logo in the template, can you provide a source for the logo being the same for the upcoming series please? Leaky Caldron 12:17, 15 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. That is for the auditions. IIRC, since 2001 the actual logo for the show is not made public until pre-broadcast publicity 3-4 weeks before the start date. Leaky Caldron 12:26, 15 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
Thnx again. I think we just need a source for the logo for the series, not the logo for the auditions for the next public series, which is what your link refers to. The public series is not until next summer and we do not know what logo will be used for the January celebrity series.Leaky Caldron 12:45, 15 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

TT

edit

Hello there and welcome to Wikipedia. I have reverted your edits on Take That as the band is officially a five piece with no official announcement that they have returned to a 4 piece, regardless of what one band member says. The official announcement from Take That's management has said they remain a five piece here and here. It also says here at the bottom of the article that once Robbie Williams completes his solo album he will return to Take That.

Thanks and enjoy editing. Yids2010 (talk) 20:13, 15 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Your RfA

edit

Hi there. I'm undoing the transclusion of your RfA because it isn't ready yet. You need to replace "YOUR DESCRIPTION OF THE USER" with a proper nomination, among other things. Once that's done you can put it back. However, I strongly recommend you don't re-transclude it yet... I can explain why if you're interested. 28bytes (talk) 21:12, 4 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Before relaunching an RfA, you may also wish to read Advice for RfA candidates and then perhaps also this page. 28bytes has made a kind offer to explain things, and I'd also be happy to offer any advice - don't hesitate to ask me any time on my talk page. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 04:26, 5 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi. When you recently edited List of The X Factor finalists (UK series 8), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Marcus Collins (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

January 2012

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed your recent edit to Britain's Got Talent does not have an edit summary. Please provide one before saving your changes to an article, as the summaries are quite helpful to people browsing an article's history. Thanks! I would also point out that you're approaching WP:3RR on the article for Britain's Got Talent. Please collaborate with other editors and build consensus instead of continually reverting others' work, especially without giving a reason for doing so. -- McDoobAU93 23:47, 16 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi Howabout90. I have removed the Sky Sports F1 logo from the Formula One article. Fair use images require a rationale for each page on which they are used; that image has no rationale for that page (and I suspect it would not qualify for fair use on that page). Regards. Thank you.

edit

I know it's a minor edit with the present, but I'm pleased someone agrees that it should not used, or forced onto a page without a discussion first. JackJackUK (talk) 22:59, 20 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Dispute

edit

Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Dispute resolution noticeboard regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. The thread is "The X Factor UK, Dancing On Ice, Strictly Come Dancing, America's Got Talent, Britain's Got Talent, The Voice (U.S.), American Idol". Thank you. --JackJackUK (talk) 16:44, 21 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Clarification of the Infobox television "Location" parameter

edit

I can see from your discussions that you would like to use the "Location" field to more accurately show the location of production.

I'm sure you will be pleased to know that I have changed the template documentation at Template:Infobox television as follows:
Production location, i.e. where the show is or was shot. Leave blank if you only know the country and it's the same as country of origin above.

Other editors might not agree and might choose to revert my change, we shall see. However I am confident that it is now correct and should really help avoiding disputes in the future. Best wishes.  ⊃°HotCrocodile…… + 23:39, 2 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

I agree this is a good change. So things turned out OK for you Howabout90, but next time I'd advise taking a more measured tone if a dispute goes to AN/I. People look at the manner in which you say things, as well as what you say... Kim Dent-Brown (Talk) 23:41, 2 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open!

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
