I seek your permission to put forth a glimpse of the resplendent glory of Kashmir’s renowned Brahmogyani and Yogi Raj Swami Jewan Sahib, who lived during the middle of the eighteenth- century A.D. Born at Motiyar, Rainawari, Srinagar, Kashmir, Jewan Sahib was an apostle of Ahinsa and Truth. Commanding a Himalayan stature in the spiritual domain, his high spiritual excellence has been immortalised from time to time in fable and song by his devotees and admirers.

Time, however, writes no wrinkle on the invincible spirit and faith of his devotees even today. Swami Jewan Sahib also called Jewan Shah is considered as an incarnation of Sada Shiva, by his devotees.

I am H. K. Pir, Former Chief Scientist & Head, CSIR-CSIO, New Delhi and Former Registrar, SGT University, Gurugram, Delhi-NCR. I am also the descendent of Swami Jewan Sahib. The material for this manuscript has been sourced from the following two books which are from our family publication. One edited by my Late grandfather and the other by my Late father. Some publications have also used different spellings for the name of the Great Saint like “Jiwan/Jewan/Jeewan”. 1. “Swami Jewan Sahib- His Life and Ideals” Edited and Published by (Late) Shiv Jee Pir in August 1957 2. “Jeewan-Stuti-Homage to Bhagwan Jewan Sahib” Published by (Late) Shri S. L. Peer in January 1983

The on-line publications have also mentioned about the Saint. Some of them are given below:

• Page No: 557 under chapter “Religion and Philosophy” of “CULTURE AND POLITICAL HISTORY OF KASHMIR, Volume 2, Medieval Kashmir by P N K BAMZAI, published by M D Publications Pvt Ltd, New Delhi, India.

   	Kashmiri Pandit Network

Ancient & Modern Ascetic in Kashmir Saints & Sages of Kashmir

• Sanctora-Sanctum of Swami Jewan Sahib (Facebook)

https://searchkashmir.org/2013/06/kashmiri-pandits-by-pandit-anand-koul.html

The manuscript depicts the authentic biography of the Saint. The publications as mentioned are authentic. As I am growing old, I thought of contributing this manuscript to Wikipedia for the first time to put forth a glimpse of the resplendent glory of the Great Saint. I hope you will accept my request and approve of publishing in your esteemed Wikipedia.

Regards

H. K. Pir
