Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:928518 67606.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Polly (Parrot) 22:15, 8 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:938688_85711.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:938688_85711.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Melesse (talk) 06:51, 9 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (Image:SolidSnake.jpg)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:SolidSnake.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. 100 Bullets

edit

The article 100 Bullets (video game) is about the video game that is in development, not the one that was cancelled. Please verify the press release by D3 Publisher here that announces the title. As more information about the new project becomes available, the information about the Acclaim project will shrink as a proportion of the article. With that in mind, I think that the article's infobox should contain information about the game in development, rather than the cancelled project. Image upload problems

edit

Guy, I see you've been having a number of problems with your image uploads not containing the proper information. Your most recent upload Image:141008.jpg‎ contains none of the required information and is of considerably lower quality than the image you replaced it with. When uploading images, especially those that are used only under fair-use criteria, it is imperative that you provide all of the required information and a rationale for why the image is allowable under fair-use (see Wikipedia's criteria at WP:NFCC). Please go back through the images you've uploaded and provide the proper information. If you continue to upload images without providing all the required information, your account may be blocked to prevent further copyright problems. Shell babelfish 05:40, 14 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Image source problem with Image:Crest logo.jpg

Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Crest logo.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 07:39, 14 April 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Shell babelfish 07:39, 14 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Move of User space page

edit

Just FYI, the page at User:Fluzwup/APHA is a work in progress, and is supposed to be in my user space until I'm ready to move it out. This is a fairly common practice (see Wikipedia:User page#What about user subpages?), and users often store stuff in their user space that's not ready for exposure. I've moved it back, and put up Fluzwup/APHA for speedy deletion. scot (talk) 20:07, 5 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Problems with upload of Image:CurrentIMDbLogo.gif

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:CurrentIMDbLogo.gif. You don't seem to have said where the image came from, who created it, or provided a license tag. We require this information to verify that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia, and because most image licenses require giving credit to the image's creator.

To add this information, select the appropriate license tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the information to the image's description. If you can't find a suitable license tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. If you need help, post your question on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 21:07, 9 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for Image:IMDb.PNG

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:IMDb.PNG. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 21:07, 10 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

RCA Corporation

edit

RCA Corporation no longer exists. The RCA trademark is owned by Thomson and is being used on products made by Thomson, Audiovox and Sony BMG. Steelbeard1 (talk) 22:58, 10 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Look at the products bearing the RCA name today. They do not say RCA Corporation. As I already stated, that say Thomson, Audiovox or Sony BMG. RCA Corporation, if you recall the article, was taken over by General Electric which split the company up. The only unit of RCA which GE kept was the National Broadcasting Company. And please sign your messages with four tildes. Steelbeard1 (talk) 23:03, 10 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yes, the RCA trademark is still being used by Thomson which, as I said before, owns the RCA trademark today and has licensed it to other companies to market products under the RCA name. And AGAIN, will you sign your messages by typing four tildes "~" after your message? Steelbeard1 (talk) 23:15, 10 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Please stop putting current info about a long defunct company in the RCA Corporation infobox. If you want to so something about the present use of the RCA name, start a new article such as "RCA (trademark)". Steelbeard1 (talk) 23:19, 10 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

I have registered a complaint concering your RCA Corporation revisions in Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard. Steelbeard1 (talk) 23:23, 10 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:21, 11 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

File source problem with File:SolidSnake.jpg

edit

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:SolidSnake.jpg.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 11:09, 3 May 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MER-C 11:09, 3 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Unreferenced BLPs

edit

Hello Guy1423! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 3 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

  1. John O'Bryan - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
