Hi Grossmaj, welcome to Wikipedia. I have noticed that you keep removing the templates I leave on the article Order of the Sword and Shield. I ask that you leave these templates alone since they will alert other Wikipedia editors to the problems on that page and will help the page improve.

Thanks,

Rescue?

edit

Best advice I can give is to read WP:RS and to get Googling... As it probably is notable, I'm prepared to restore it and put it in your user space if it goes. (This is despite a personal dislike for this sort of organisation... Here, I'm neutral.) If this is the case, I can put you onto two ladies who are good rescuers. My apologies for placing a speedy deletion tag on this article (the notice of which I removed from here). I think I googled the wrong thing when I ran into it and placed the tag in error, obviously. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 22:30, 3 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Order of the Sword and Shield requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a club, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Toddst1 (talk) 21:13, 4 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Grossmaj. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Order of the Sword and Shield, you may need to consider our guidance on conflicts of interest.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. Toddst1 (talk) 22:10, 4 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

To All Concerned Parties,

First off, let me say that I am very appreciative for all the time and effort that went into providing your thoughtful critique of this article. I apologize if I have violated any of your rules of procedure. I can assure you, as the contributor of this article, I have put a lot of effort into presenting this academic society in the most accurate and neutral light. It is true, I am involved with this society, and it is also true that I am proud of all the accomplishments of this organization to date. This does not mean that I cannot be accurate and fair. I have built an entire career on giving good, sound, objective advice. I would be the first to hit the delete button to this article if I have portrayed this organization in anything less then a neutral light.

The homeland security academic discipline is very new. It is logical then that this honor society is also new. Two plus years new to be accurate. However, if you check our website,https://sites.google.com/site/orderoftheswordandshield/, much has been accomplished in this short time. At the heart of this is the fact that these students came together and decided to begin the process of recognizing high academic achieving students studying disciplines vital to the protection of our country against future acts of terrorism. The mission of the society is to honor scholastic excellence. The society is not a business. It does not generate sales. There are no underhanded secret motives behind this article, some of which have been implied throughout this deletion discussion. Just because an academic program is new, does not make it anyless noteworthy or significant. The honor society in question was a product of St. John's University. St. John's was one of the first schools to offer a true 4 year undergraduate program in homeland security. Students at the school take pride in this, and wanted to be at the forefront of developing an honor society in this discipline as well. The honor society has been an "in house" secret of the university until most recently. Other schools, such as UCLA, Penn State, and others have expressed interest in bringing chapters of the soceity to their schools. This is the begnning of something extraordinary, especially if you consider that there were no "homeland security" academic programs as little as 10 years ago.

If the decision to delete this article is carried out, I am fine with it. This was merely an avenue to inform the world of a very important and noteworthy academic movement occuring in schools across the country. There are no other motives behind this article. Since I am in the academic business, I believe in educating the masses while ensuring the protection of free speech to all, including those persons objecting to this article.

Thank you again for your patience with my lack of Wikipedia etiquette.

Sincerly,

Jeffrey P. Grossmann, JD Asst. Professor and Program Director Homeland and Corporate Security St. John's University Queens, NY 11439 718-990-7436 grossmaj@stjohns.edu

Speedy deletion nomination of Order of the Sword and Shield

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Order of the Sword and Shield requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted.
