Hey, I am getting in trouble for vandalising

Which I guess I am doing, but it is to do with a wiki page that one of my friends made about himself (link to the page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Matthew_Pearson) So I am just having a bit of fun with the wanker. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:8003:20FF:B300:C4B0:222C:C1D2:DA65 (talk) 21:11, 22 May 2017‎ (UTC)

Edits in astra

Hi editor,

I have come across the editwar in page 'astra' regarding the description of Sudarshan chakra. A couple of editors are pushing a false information without any credible source-that the weapon can be commandeered by Shiva. They are citing youtube sources. I don't have the policy know-how to deter this. Please address this vandalism.Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.201.109.61 (talk) 19:58, 23 May 2017 (UTC)

RE: Monopoly Talk Page

Excuse me for deleting the previous discussion, I meant only to add to it in a positive way, and if you were to read it, it explains everything I meant to say; so could you add it to the end of discussion? I hope it's not gone for good; I put a lot of thought into it. It was about house rules, about 30 lines. Thanks if you can help. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2604:6000:a340:ae00:a0cc:fe85:987c:48c (talk) 20:47, 2 June 2017‎ (UTC)

NEJ

Hi, You recently reverted my page to the starting point. I'd Love to know why. I am trying to set up a biography for this journalist and I thought I was following all the rules? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dragonslyer165 (talkcontribs) 11:56, 5 June 2017 (UTC)

Dragonslyer165 (talk · contribs), you can not create a new article by overwriting an existing article, as you have been trying to do with Nej. If you want to create an article for the journalist, I suggest creating a draft and work on it there. I can see that you have attempted to create an article for Nicole Ellan James before but it was deleted for being too much of an advertisement, I suggest you read up on wikipedia article creation, notability and spam. I hope this helps. Bakilas (talk) 12:03, 5 June 2017 (UTC)

Re:Edit War Warning

I totally understand. But Bones Jones keeps on reverting my edits which was just to simplify the page.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Gun Lover (talkcontribs)

Gun Lover (talk · contribs), the best way to handle this is to discuss it on the article's talk page, not revert back. If this does not work there are other avenues you can look into, which are explained on the message I left on your talk page. Bakilas (talk) 07:01, 7 June 2017 (UTC)

Well as you can see, Bare Bones reverted it back. Just simply compare my edits and his and see what you think.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Gun Lover (talkcontribs)

The issue is not so much the content of the edits, but the edit warring. I have also warned Bones Jones (talk · contribs) about the edit warring. I strongly suggest that instead of reverting each other's edits you both discuss it on the talk page. It seems that you both are trying in your own way to improve Wikipedia and I would hate to see either of you get blocked from editing over this.Bakilas (talk) 07:12, 7 June 2017 (UTC)

Ok, will do...— Preceding unsigned comment added by Gun Lover (talkcontribs)

Hey I appreciate you for leaving message on my talk page. But all I'm trying to do is to remove my own edit and I am not getting how somebody else's edit are removed. I would greatly appreciate you if you could help me in this. I want my comment to appear only once and they are appearing several times. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rasd000 (talkcontribs) 08:10, 14 June 2017 (UTC)

At the moment you don't appear to have any comments on the page, both times you posted you have added a new comment and overwritten existing comments. What comment (that is yours) are you trying to remove? Bakilas (talk) 08:33, 14 June 2017 (UTC)

Mario O.M.G Gully

Hello. I don't want to cause a conflict of interest. But much of the information in this page "O.M.G" my name and info is either outdated or wrong. I get people asking about it and I took,it apon myself to fix it. Example..it said I was born in "Orlando Fl" That is wrong and the other stuff I would like to fix is still there. I can prove this is me. Please let me edit my,information and bring it up to date.

Thank you.

@Omgtheartist: I understand that you want accurate information, in the future the best approach would be to request the edit, that way an editor has the chance to make sure that it presents a neutral point of view. If you like I can disclose that you may have a conflict of interest on the Mario Gully talk page, or you are welcome to do so yourself. Bakilas (talk) 10:42, 15 June 2017 (UTC)

Garoto

Garoto is the brand that makes Serenata de Amor chocolates ¿does that not count as main page?. In addition, I perceive that criterion as very lax though practic, you should request for sources not for main pages. @Neurorebel: I am just operating from the selection criteria as agreed on the talk page, if you want to open it up to candies which are made by a brand which has its own wikipedia page that is something best discussed on the talk page first. Bakilas (talk) 12:33, 15 June 2017 (UTC)
Can you please answer in my talk page? However Garoto is the name of the assorted chocolates, they stay.
Few days ago I drawed a definition for candy, unhopefully i forgot it.

Hello, I believe there is a mistake. The source isn't libel or "unreputable". The source was confirmed by the living person's father, whom I have spoken with personally. He has also came to edit the Wikipedia page himself. I hope you'll reconsider the source.

Akirakiraa (talk) 10:29, 21 July 2017 (UTC)Akirakiraa

@Akirakiraa: I would suggest reading more about sources for biographies of living people. As I have stated in the edit summaries Reddit and other online forums are not reliable sources in this instance. Bakilas (talk) 10:41, 21 July 2017 (UTC)

Asking for help from a wikiveteran

Hi. I noticed not long ago you fixed up some of my formating on the page for SharkLinux. (Thank you btw) It has since been marked for deletion but not being the creator Im not sure what Im able to in regards to this. While the orig creator only left a couple sentances, I spent a good deal of time gathing all info I could find and now I think im more to blame for this. I was using a wiki page for another popular distro (solaris) as a guidline so im a bit hesitant to assume I know exactly where the issue lays. Is it possible I can ask you to have a look at it and perhaps make any changes youd think to be required? Id hate to see my work go to waste. Appreciate any help you can offer.

--Marpet98 (talk) 18:40, 26 July 2017 (UTC)

@Marpet98: I can see that you have removed the speedy delete tag (which you are allowed to do since you are not the article creator) and attempted to remove anything you think could be interpreted as bias opinion, so I would say you are on the right path. I would suggest reading through this page to get a better idea of what Wikipedia is trying to avoid. I will try to take another look at the page tonight and see if there is anything I can do to improve it. Bakilas (talk) 04:54, 27 July 2017 (UTC)

Notable entries for pages about names

Hi, thanks for removing some non-notable entries from lists.

However, I think you went too far at Nate (name), removing two fictional characters where the name of the fictional work included the character's name, Nate. IMHO this makes it a sufficiently notable entry to be kept on a page about the name, even if there is no separate article or redirect about the eponymous character themselves.

Hope this helps, – Fayenatic London 21:10, 9 August 2017 (UTC)

Hi,

Sorry for trying to claim ownership on this. I spent TONS of hours writing this article in 2016? and was shocked to hear it was published and that people have changed it. I apologize for trying to claim ownership just trying to keep the truth in line as I know this band personally.

Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anonymouschild1 (talkcontribs) 07:12, 17 August 2017 (UTC)

Anonymouschild1 I understand that you have put a lot of work into the article, however leaving messages asking people to email you before making any edits is not how Wikipedia works. By creating the article you put it out there for any editor to make changes and try to improve. I have left a message on your talk page about editing pages for people/bands you know in person. I hope this helps. Bakilas (talk) 07:15, 17 August 2017 (UTC)

Amy Helm

Hi, I was wondering why you reverted the Amy Helm musician page back to the old content? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Adameats (talkcontribs) 05:46, 22 August 2017 (UTC)

Hello Adameats, I made the reverts because the change lacked any references. Wikipedia asks that information have reliable sources, especially when in relation to biographies of living people. Bakilas (talk) 05:58, 22 August 2017 (UTC)

Inappropriate links on Wikipedia

Hi, I fail to see how linking to another wikipedia page is inappropriate. To me - up until now only a user and a supporter of Wikipedia - it make sense to provide as much cross-referencing as possible. Is linking to Wikipedia DE and Wikipedia FR considered inappropriate by Wikipedia? The first time around I linked to commercial sites, apparently this was wrong. But Wikipedia pages? All the latest links you removed were links to Wikipedia pages. — Preceding unsigned comment added by OlgaApostolova (talkcontribs) 10:37, 26 August 2017 (UTC)

I know the details is available in another website and that is why i presented it in a more considerable/readable way (tabled). IS that a problem? now i am been blocked from editing the contents? What should i do now?

should i not contribute to wikipedia.. I want to truely contribute here,, if any wrong in my way. i am ready to correct it. pls advise. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thennarasugr (talkcontribs) 00:15, 28 August 2017 (UTC)

The issue Thennarasugr is that the information provided was copied from another website, the fact that you then changed how it was presented doesn't change the issue that you copied it from another website. Bakilas (talk) 04:42, 28 August 2017 (UTC)

What are you doing?

Hello, I noticed that recently you'd placed a template of living people on the top of an article about a dead person. Why don't you read contents before you add templates? Can you let me know your purpose of doing it? Dinuraeditions (talk) 06:47, 31 August 2017 (UTC)

Dinuraeditions, as I explained in reply to the message you left on the talk page, I only added the "multipleissues" tag which combined existing tags into a cleaner looking tag. You probably want to speak to Dan arndt, as he is the one who added the initial tags. Bakilas (talk) 06:48, 31 August 2017 (UTC)

United Firefighters Union Australia article

Hi Bakilas,

There is not an edit war, but dealing with persistent vandalism and possible sockpuppetry by users NSWFire and static IP user 203.174.137.222, with continual addtion of verbatim reproductions of newspapaper articles to the wiki which do not add the article and more read as press releases.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Firefighter83 (talkcontribs)

Firefighter83 - I would advise reading WP:NOT3RR as it explains what is not 3RR, as this does not appear to fall under either "Reverting obvious vandalism—edits that any well-intentioned user would agree constitute vandalism, such as page blanking and adding offensive language". If it is "verbatim reproductions of newspapaper articles" it can be removed as a copyright violation as long as you can link to the article it is copied from. Bakilas (talk) 06:40, 6 September 2017 (UTC)

Bakilas thank you for the heads up, i'll certainly read the suggested article and act accordingly

user pages

Has ASSadist defector got a suitable user page? i thought they weren't for users to push propaganda. His user page is just a photo of a dictator and some declaration of abject loyalty to this dictator. It is a sign to anyone that this is a pov pusher, it is not a proper use of a user page. I know personal abus is an absolute no-no on wikipedia, I thought pov pushing also was a no -no and user pages were not for propaganda. You know wikipedia is awash with fringe material? You know those who appease and tolerate obvious pov pushers are making wikipedia useless, right? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.147.38.134 (talk) 16:04, 8 September 2017 (UTC)

Rare Carat

Hi there Bakilas, I am not an expert but it appears you removed an edit that I put adding Rare Carat competitors. Given the page appears to be a company PR entry, I felt it relevant to add some information about competitors. You seem way more Wiki experienced than me - but I thought it entirely appropriate. The info was all factual and easily verifiable. Sincerely Garry Holloway AKA CutNut — Preceding unsigned comment added by GarryH CutNut (talkcontribs) 03:36, 3 October 2017 (UTC)

GarryH CutNut, the reason I removed the edit is due to it not having any sources. Wikipedia requires reliable sources and edits that lack them are likely to be removed. For now I will tag it as unsourced, but if it remains unsourced I will have to remove it again. Bakilas (talk) 05:15, 3 October 2017 (UTC)

Dear Bakilas, The information I added is factual. Should I place links or references? For example pricescope.com goes back to 1999 on the WayBackMachine. Is it appropriate for a company to use Wikipedia as a self promotion platform? This seems to be the case? Kind regards Garry HollowayGarryH CutNut (talk) 06:16, 4 October 2017 (UTC)

As I explained above GarryH CutNut, the issue with your addition is the lack of references, if you can add reliable references that is a good start. If you believe that the article is in fact purely being used as self-promotion I suggest reading Wikipedia:ARTSPAM and addressing the issues with the article instead of adding advertising for another company. Bakilas (talk) 06:22, 4 October 2017 (UTC)

Another request

Hello again. I asked for your assistance back when SharkLinux page was tagged for speedy removall, which it did avoid. Now it has been revisited again and is considered for deletion. The reason is non-notable. I certainly disagree with that label and have compiled many sources in several languages, mediums (magazines, websites, radio shows, rankings etc)that would indicate notability. I am however over my head by a mile how to present this. The whole thing seems very formal and Im lucky to even add a paragraph to an artice without messing something up. May I request your assistance in how to go about this? Marpet98 (talk) 10:25, 6 October 2017 (UTC)marpet98

Mandeville

The article I cited was a breaking news article that notified the public of the individual's death. The article was published the day after his death. Following the funeral, there was an article printed on the individual, however, the newspapers' online database does not go back as far as 2009 so I was unable to cite that and settled for the news briefing. Please also take into consideration the fact that newspapers do not send out breaking news stories for EVERY civilian who dies, so the fact that there was a breaking news story on the individual shows he was renowned. Ps: I am A Jamaican and this individual's life/legacy has been taught to us in class. This doesn't happen for every unknown person.Joe V 06:07, 20 October 2017 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Joe V (talkcontribs)

How do I stop unbased defamation on Wikipedia?

I have been in an Editing-War with a person who clearly wants to damage the reputation of the current Sōke of the Hokushin Ittō-Ryū Hyōhō. Over the past months he put out statements which claims, that said individual has bought his ranks and recreated his school. Such rumours are used quite often in the Koryū society to trash someones name and to defame them. The account cannot even proof the rumours he spreads. If I would go and write on some politicians page that he cheated during his exams and got his titles because of that, without prooving my claims it would be deleted. But in this case the person continues and continues to trash the name of Mr. Ōtsuka. Since years. Sometimes harder sometimes not so much. The IP adress under which he works is 14.132.3.250 and the account name 日本古武道. The IP address was blocked for this in the past years by Wikipedia for trolling and destroying this article. However it was recently unblocked. I kindly request to block this person again, as talking with him on the talk page doesn't lead to anything, as he never prooves anything he writes and then doesn't answer anymore when you ask him. This is clearly trolling in my opinion. Closing the Wiki article would also be an option so only authorised people can apply for changes like it is done with some politicians or government pages. I hope you can help. Jellyfish82 (talk) 09:11, 22 October 2017 (UTC)

Altnews

Calling Altnews.in a fact-checking website is not neutral point of view. It is a left-wing opinions website and that definition should not be seen as partisan. All the founders of the website are left-leaning and the content of the website is anti-right-wing. In that case, how is it violation of neutrality to call it a left-wing website? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kohlikarnika (talkcontribs) 12:07, 22 November 2017 (UTC)

Kohlikarnika, the NPOV I refer to is more related to phrases such as "In an attempt to discredit the right-wing". The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

Hi,

Thank you for looking out for copyright violations on Wikipedia. I just noticed your CSD request on Plaid syndrome. While the text may have been taken from the website you posted, that website is a US government website, which (cf [1] has put the text in the public domain. That said - the text may incorporate other texts from third party source, which them would be subject to copyright. However finding out whether this is the case is a matter for a AfD not for a CSD. Travelbird, I merely moved an existing CSD to the top of the article as seen here. Greyjoy talk 11:06, 17 December 2017 (UTC)

New Wiki.

Thank you for your advice, Greyjoy. I am new to Wikipedia and hope to be a local contributor.

In regards to Fresh Slice, I am merely trying to add updated information, with citations. I thought I had added comments on what changes were made. If these did not show up, I apologize. If there are online lessons on how to update, feel free to point me in the right direction. I will try again once I gain the experience.

Pique.Management I appreciate that you are trying to add referenced material to the article. My message on your talk page was in relation to your user name which breaks Wikipedia's username policy, as it is the name of a company. You may ask for a change of username by completing this form, or you may simply create a new account for editing. Greyjoy talk 06:52, 22 December 2017 (UTC)
