Magic underwear

You deleted Magic underwear (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) as CSD G10 - I searched for this term to find out what was being referred to when this term is used by various media personalities - I did eventually find Temple garment, but I have a question - was what you deleted simply a redirect? Just because something is offensive does not mean it should not be used as a redirect - it is a term that is being notably used to refer to it. I think you're incorrect. Supposing he didn't mean to vandalize; he just wanted to express his opinion? "Inappropriate appraisal" and "inappropriate insults" are not necessarily vandalisms; unless you ask him, you can't really know what his intentions were. Boomerang Throwing Groups

Hi!

I spent ages collecting that information, and I even checked other wikipedia pages to make sure I wasn't wasting my time...

Please have a look at the list of international soccer clubs, then go to the tennis clubs list... and then let me know what was the difference with the listing of all the boomerang throwing clubs.

It listed (in order of country and state) almost every boomerang throwing group in the world. The ones that weren't listed were notified that they should add their own clubs to the list.

I apologize

Between December 14, 2005 and June 7, 2007, I vandalized Wikipedia under my previous username (YechielMan) and under various IP addresses and alternate accounts.

I recently reviewed the contribution logs of all the accounts and IP addresses that I can recall having used. My goal was to identify all of the intentionally harmful edits I caused, and to apologize to the individual users who reverted those edits, or warned me, or blocked me.

Hence, I apologize to you and to all of the following users:

Thanks for the advice on CSD tagging. I've had an incident before where I tagged a practical joke as nonesense only to have an administrator allow the article on the grounds that it wasn't nonesense. When I asked him about it, he helpfully responded that it was closer to vandalism, and so I've been tagging all hoaxes and other hard-to-categorize pages that way since. Thanks for taking the time to consider my request to semi-protect the page. I should note that I virtually "adopted" that entry, when I saw the amount of back-and-forth changes, obviously made by "fans" and "enemies" of the artist, i.e. anonymous posters whose only contributions were to this entry. Hey, old buddy!

Of course I remember you! Anyone whose screen name ties in with Porky in Wackyland is pretty hard to forget.  :) Sadly, I'm becoming extremely frustrated with the way things are going. It's gotten to the point where this site is pretty much filled with anything of major importance. All the new articles seem to be about English footballers, obscure 18th Century politicians and occasional bios about other obsucre sports figures. In short, stuff I couldn't care less about. Gone are the days when I stumbled on red links like Ridge Route and was able to start with a good stub and turn it into a feature. Heck, none of my features are features anymore. So, I've been very careful about adding new content. One article I did called Uncle Don's Toys about a historic Palm Springs toy store was run up for AfD within fifteen seconds. Last night, I wrote HobbyZone Millennium PTU about a major new indoor micro-helicopter. Boom. Gone. I had written it on another wiki and was in the process of bringing it up to snuff when it was speedied for being advertising and of no importance. I've seen band vanity articles get better treatment. I put it on deletion review where (a) they're demanding slews of third-party sources and (b) a user is claiming that I'm having "fantasies of notability" about the thing. Hell, just because it's a commercial product doesn't make it an ad. Worse, I don't recognize any of these new users and admins. The admins are so overwhelmed with the real garbage that comes in on NPP that they bite at anything that doesn't have the significance of George Washington. Thanks for the notification. I was experimenting with a final warning as such, and it was good to hear your side and feelings about that kind of a warning. What you explained about alerting the person that he was ARV'd makes sense: the vandal would speed up his vandalism attempts before being blocked. So I'll make sure to ARV a user or IP discretely. If you haven't already, I'll remove that message. Thanks a lot and I hope to keep in touch with you, as well as the other admins that hear my ARV messages. Also, on a side note, I didn't realize that another user had warned him before I did. I have a question for you, if you don't mind. In my talkpage, just above our conversation is a conversation I had with 74.142.55.239. He claims to be amerindianarts, which I know is 100% not true. The user claiming to be him does not know how to make a subject in my talkpage and doesn't sign what he wrote; amerindianarts does. amerindianarts also had contributions one day after he wrote his claim on my talkpage. Oh I wasn't worried or upset about it at all. If he wanted to make claims or be a nonsense user, he can. I wouldn't become upset or make nasty replies to someone who chooses to be an idiot. I just post my warnings, and report the users or IP's that are warned too many times. The only reason I asked you and made any replies is because I didn't know whether making claims like that are things admins look for to block or warn someone with. To answer your question in this edit summary, yes, that was why the bots were not updating the page. Alas, it is impossible to account for every bit of silliness someone will do. Perhaps a note in the "Sysops" section of the page header to indicate that admins can/should notify one of the bot owners if things don't seem to be getting removed could help get this type of thing fixed more quickly. Repetitive spam on the Cap d'Agde article

The article Cap d'Agde (page revision history) is receiving repetitive insertions of the same two web site links, via multiple IP addresses (so far 90.37.151.7,90.41.213.73 and 90.48.15.208 , I'm really getting feed up having to remove the spam each day and the warning I placed on the user talk page just resulted in another IP number, so I'm wondering what might be done - could the page be semi protected to allow only logged in / registered users edit access for a short period so the spammer might finally get the message? BTW reading Wikipedia:WikiProject Spam it ticks all the classic boxes, I've now removed the 'external links' section to see what happens next. I contacted you as you helped to clean the article up a week or so ago and as I'm relatively new to Wiki I'm not sure the correct procedures now. Many tanks. Further to the above, I noticed that this spammer seemingly deleted the <references /> section before adding their spam, no doubt to add weight to the spam in the absence of a couple of websites cited within the article. SouthernElectric 17:42, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

I took a closer look and it is not-so-subtle travel agency spam. Probably the owner of the agency in question. That webcam was boring, too, but that's besides the point. While there are anti-spam bots that will remove links, since the links are only being added to a single article, it is not likely that the anti-spam bots will be set to look for it as they generally only add websites that are mass spammed. I went ahead and semi-protected the page for a week. Perhaps they will give up and go away. Unfortunately, there is not a whole lot else you can do besides to leave the article in your watch list and keep reverting. -- Gogo Dodo 21:01, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for protecting the page, but I've just reverted what I thought had been deleted by the unlogged-in IP user only to realise that you had in fact deleted the section - That information really does need to be included, it's valid encyclopedic information that naturists would be looking for, although it could live without the citations - but then Wikipedia will pick the article up as being uncited, the information just isn't going to be anywhere else other than in a commercial place, surely there is a difference between citing a commercial source to back up textual content and just adding a commercial web link? I removed the reference to the travel agency because I am concerned that it ends up driving commercial traffic to the site when the agency is not really an official website of the resort nor does the site qualify as a reliable source. Sorry to bring this issue up again but the spammer is still inserting their spam daily (current edit history), is there any chance of placing a short IP# edit block on again so they might get the message that they are just wasting their time, I know this would also affect legitimate anonymous editors but the articles edit history is such that little or no editing is taking place by IP# (bar the spammer). Can I ask for some guidance as to how to handle the comments being left on the Talk:Cap d'Agde page by this user please? Their first couple of contributions (which I simply removed and linked back to) were not much more than placing the same links onto the talk page and then making accusations about the IMDB web site and complaining about the quality of the information within the article. The user is criticising the quality/accuracy of the articles content but doesn't seem to be in any hurry to contribute beyond wanting to place web links... I think you handled the situation just fine. It's fairly obvious that it is the link spammer who finally created an account. The spyware claim on IMDB is just weird. One thing of note though is that you shouldn't remove the editor's comments even though the links are spam because they are trying to have a discussion about it. Unless the comment is outright spam or blatant advertising (usually added by an automated spam bot), you should leave the links in so that other editors will understand the context. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 00:16, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

Moscow News

I saw you once made a few sensible edits to the Moscow News article. Have a look now, because there is a Ria Novosti IP that is putting up an Orwellian rewrite of the history, trying to eliminate A. Louis from the history of the paper, etc. The edits are done by the same IP all the time, and now from Kiev (probably because the vandal is a foreign employee of Ria currently on a 'visa run'.) I'm not entirely sure how to get the guy's attention to stop reverting to his purged version, since he does not make any comments in the discussion section, nor seems to care to justify his changes. Hi, yes i am a newbie, sorry if i caused grief. I didnt get around to qualifying the hit count, yes it is the number of times the word appears in my database of Far Side comics. Why would that not be acceptable?

Can I add the references to the two Lewis and Clark cartoons back into the Tension Mounts section as they are very much along the same theme. Since user has no other edits and leaped right into an ongoing discussion with a banned user who has more than a hundred sockpuppets (and who has spent the evening making slurs and threats that have resulted in him having two more socks banned), evidence points to a high probablity of him being a sockpuppet.

This banned user, User:Starwars1955, has been extremely disruptive for quite some time. Check his list of socks and you can see that. Tonight, in overlapping conversations, he's used the identities of Lisa Kirkpatrick and Lock Box, if you'll check his contributions here and here, you can see what we're up against. He's used slurs, threats, and profanity, and that's just tonight.

If this user is not the 100+th sock, I apologize, but I feel that based on the prior MO of this banned user, he was just overlapping socks again, thus the sockpuppet tag. I've tagged probably twenty of his socks before, and I've never been wrong.

I do appreciate your stepping in to handle this, though. You and the other editors have done a great job moving quickly against this banned user to prevent more damage to Wikipedia, and I hope my explanation helps. Snowfire51 07:58, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

I appreciate the quick answer. Unfortunately, SW1955 has used several socks before that made a few test edits (or small incorrect edits to several other articles to give the illusion of productivity, and then used his socks to claim he's a long-time editor that is just now adopting an identity. I'd say more, but WP:BEANS. After months of this, we're all a bit jumpy, and when this happens we all just assume it's happening again. I appreciate your time, though. I have to agree with Snowfire here, this edit makes me worry, as his second edit is on the page of a confirmed sock and somehow he understands this situation which took me a couple of solid days of work to figure out. I guess Snowfire is right that we all are a little jumpy but edits and edit summaries like this make us all a little justifiably tense when it comes to this editor. One farther point that I forgot to mention was that on that second edit he states "I had the biggest feeling it was Starwars1955! The user page made it obvious." Yeah one of the things that makes it all worth while is what this guy says and the lengths he goes to do things, it makes me laugh. His big thing is to tell us to get a life or that we need girlfriends and that we have too much time on our hands, if it werent for WP:TROLL I would love to point out to this guy that we are spending our time actually doing good for this site, while he is spending his time doing stupid things that get reverted right away. Robin Hood edits

It was reverted back to the pre-Yorkshirian edits because the editor has been asked more than a few times to discuss his edits prior to making them, as they tend to be sweeping in nature, removing other citations and statements without discussion. There is even a discussion about this (here), and unfortunately, the only defense he uses is that there was no proof to suggest Robin hood wasn't a real person, except that he most certainly wasn't Fulk Fitzwarin. I've suggested that he instead add his material bit by bit, to allow reasoned discussion as to the veracity of those edits, and not add them is so large a chunk that addressing them requires a long post. - Arcayne (^{cast a spell}) 19:18, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

Severed Savior Page

Why did you delete the Severed Savior page? I'm asking because Severed Savior is fairly popular in the San Fransico-Oakland area- and I know this all the way from Connecticut. As far as I know, they satisfy the requirements necessary. For what it's worth, they re probably more popular than some of the other bands that have pages (for example, Tsjuder). infrared sauna

Hi, it was me who added all the sauna links. I make informational sites as a hobby and have some of the most authorative and highest google ranked sites on the net (on some topics). I have just started the sauna site, and I now realise I went over the top with the sauna posts, having now read the "linking" regulations on Wiki (although I didn't think I was spamming at the time). And I realise wiki won't give me a higher google ranking etc.

I do however feel that this article is a valid link to add to the infrared saunas page, and want to show it to you first so that you don't hit me for spamming. Re:Username

Hi. Thanks for your welcome message in my talk page. Regarding my username, I agree that the username is a bit long. But please don't tell me to change it. It consisits of 38 letters. But in wikipedia, usernames more than 30 letters are allowed. I have worked hard to make a good username. This username is very favourite to me. My username Stercorariuscyaneusparvulacataphractus actually consists of four Latin words. See this:

• Stercorarius (pronounce sterco-rarius)
• cyaneus (pronounce cya-neus)
• parvula (pronounce parvula)
• cataphractus (pronounce cata-phractus)

My references? Drink the stuff. You'll see EXACTLY how accurate it is. Should I have used "Kicks like a Parapgegic" instead? That would have been offensive to people with spinal injuries... Plug-in hybrid

Hi. I am trying to avoid a major edit war at Plug-in hybrid. I believe that User:Xchange is inserting edits which are biased, unverifiable and inaccurate, and that he/she is deleting previous edits which are pertinent and on-topic. Disneyland Forecast Center

I put a link down in the Disneyland wiki section and it is to a Disneyland Weather Forecast Center. It has helped many people plan going or not going to the park to see the fireworks. Has all kinds of forecasts and discussions. It was undid and doesn't make sense why. This person Gogo Dodo did it. The forecast center is WIDELY recognized by Disneyland.
